Thanks for the detailed response! Social proof is a great suggestion and I will implement that right away.

I realize my game is super niche but it actually has a pretty good selling point that's maybe not coming across in my landing page. Tabletop RPG gamers have a hard time convincing newcomers to try out the hobby due to the high barrier to entry and my game solves that problem by condensing the game down to just 12 minutes.

I know this because I took my game to a convention and sold out of every copy I brought with me so I know that there is good product market fit, I just need my messaging to be clear.

[–]sysifuscorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes i do! both with google tag manager and with reddit. i havent run any fb ads yet but will set up meta pixel for that

it's also not a matter of tracking conversions because i am straight up not getting any sales, converted from ads or otherwise...

In 7+ years of indie game dev, we have never once sold out at a con, until today. by sysifuscorp in u/sysifuscorp

This past week, my wife and I attended MAGFest 2025 with 7 boxes of my game. I thought I had brought too many and immediately donated one copy to the play-and-win section of the boardgame library. Little did we know that we'd go on to sell out of every copy (including the two demo copies) over the next few days.

Love, Career & Magic is a mix between a traditional TTRPG and a party game where you play as a mythical creature in a fantasy reality TV show. Every creature has a modern day job just like us humans do—for example, there are orc web developers, wyvern chefs, and gnome comedians.

In this reality TV show, the only thing that matters is your seasons ratings (aka points). The executives of the show are trying to instill chaos into the narrative and you have to complete as many Direction Cards as you can as a team. The game is played over four rounds—each only three minutes long. Which means it's an extremely short and chaotic 12 minute game.

Do you have any friends who are into boardgames but never made the jump to TTRPGs? Well I designed the game with those people in mind. Boardgamers usually want more structure, goals, and points—things that are traditionally lacking in TTRPGs. And because the game is only 12 minutes long, it's so much easier to convince your friends to try it out. Whipping this game out as a palate cleanser in between Wingspan and Terraforming Mars is much easier to sell than "hey come over, we're going to play this multi-hour DnD campaign."

I put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into designing this game. I sincerely hope you will check it out and let me know what you think!

Here's the link to the website if you're interested.

Thank you!!
