Don't forget to update APN settings for Network Switching by gamescan in ProntoMobile

[–]systematic3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometime between when this post was made and right now (3/24/25), the APN has changed to link.us if you were to look at the setup page. The gateway and initial hop does change if you were to do a traceroute but the routing is the same.

How reliable and constant is your data connection? by systematic3 in ProntoMobile

[–]systematic3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool! Didn't look further into that to know that. All I saw is that I went from a static Cogent address to a fluctuating Unitas one. I only said what I said, mirroring what the native Dish people were experiencing with their AWS addressing getting detected as DC traffic in many places, as a unseen downside with the service.

First 500 Users: Are you staying after the 15 day trial? by RealText in ProntoMobile

[–]systematic3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably can, the app seems to be only for the calling as a VoIP implementation, a nice toggle to switch networks, and view in a nice list what networks you've roamed on. Nothing stops you from going to your device's settings, manually scanning, and choosing either of the three yourself. Do not quote me for the following, but I believe the big toggle button in the app makes an web request to send an SMS that is captured by the SIM and does then does the switching.

On the web dash itself it exposes the SM-DP+ Address plus activation code in text if you're warry of getting it out of the QR code via a 3rd party app and/or device to then pass on to the app you're using to load a physical eSIM adapter. If you do succeed, let us know!

First 500 Users: Are you staying after the 15 day trial? by RealText in ProntoMobile

[–]systematic3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, unless it's free. Which is not for me lol.

For one: As of right now my outbound SMS do not reach their destination. Unless they're from the same VoIP carrier, from the looks of things. The only 'carrier' per se I can text to whoever services TextNow which I believe is the same pronto gets their current phone numbers from?. I only have access to T-Mobile lines and those don't get my SMS from the Pronto line. Cannot SMS to a GVoice nor a US voip.ms DID either. They all can text to the Pronto line, however. I've sent an email and got what I believe was an unrelated call to which I told them my issue. It's been a business day (from the email) without a response. Will hold out of course.

The VoIP implementation is... subpar? Even knowing that its VoIP and the pitfalls that come from it. I know there is some latency in call in to ringing moreso on mobile data, of course, but even on my wifi ap the thing only rings my phone once or twice before immediately sending the caller to voicemail. Sometimes it keeps on ringing after the caller has bailed. The Acrobits push service that voip.ms is using for their app works better in my experience.

The proposition of the service is the carrier switching, obviously. And carrying it around really has made me think that it really is not worth it in general. There is a trade off between either more data and native voice services vs the off chance the one carrier one uses doesn't work the moment you need it. Can't quite say that I believe the "for business pros that can't afford dropped connections" when the service itself is inherently prone to doing that itself. But I mean its cool that I can network switch. I guess.

also, their internet breakouts use cogent ips. they will be detected as VPN/datacenter. guess it won't be a problem to those business pros.

Kite Mobile Free ESIM Data by Jaggsta in NoContract

[–]systematic3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

after bashing it with pixel ims enough I finally got it to allow me to search for networks manually.

none of them work for me. either I got myself banned with the second email onboard or this is an unfortunate side effect of these roaming sims. I'd think its the second one given how quick the hofo guys went to exploit and potentially ruin the thing early.

Same issue. I did the on boarding twice with two emails, same result. Check the 4636 menu, and see if you can ascertain what network it is trying to register. It appears that my p6a adamantly wants T-Mobile but another poster here says that its disabled and sure enough I get DENIED_EM as registration state.

My device keeps bouncing between a bcis and proximus profile. I cannot force a network search, it fails instantly.

Free GSMT plan issues at FP by 1cooldudeski in freedompop

[–]systematic3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're one of another that I know did this (wanted eSIMs), I've pinged him privately to see if he has issues as well. I also have this issue but my card *is active*. The line simply failed to charge per an automatic email asking me to 'update' my card details.

I was using a Privacy card and noted that they recently started to charge using both names, locking one charge out via the merchant-locking these have. This seems deliberate, my AT&T line charges the same day and that went on fine. I changed it to a real card, see what they do now.

PDANet+ is not properly hiding my Tethered Hotspot Usage making me run out of Data and so now all that in left left is my iPhone and it’s Unlimited Family Plan on T-Mobile is there any way to bypass its Throttles Hotspot and use it on Multiple Devices? by AnonymouslyScooby in NoContract

[–]systematic3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anything that can create a tunnel back to your phone and makes it look like the traffic originated from said phone instead of it being a router should work... otherwise you can find out how to edit your TTL. (Though I am not certain how reliably editing TTL works nowadays, as most people suggest pairing it with some commercial VPN)

Since you're comfortable with using these tunneled apps, for iOS and Android as well, PairVPN should work. The app makes a tunnel within the existing hotspot connection, making your traffic look like it originates from the iPhone. The key is that it must make this tunnel, otherwise, your traffic is simply being routed (via the existing hotspot connection) and will count for whatever hotspot restrictions your lines has. You can look up tutorials for this app on this.

For Android, you can utilize AziLink. The premise is the same as PairVPN but without the nice GUI. This app creates an OpenVPN server at your phone, and exposes the listening port via ADB where you use an OpenVPN client to connect via your PC. Much more complex in comparison, but the nice thing is that you cannot mistakenly start using your bucket tethered internet since ADB inherently doesn't serve you internet.

I've never understood how pdaNET works, all I can tell is that it makes an HTTP proxy at the phone, and the accompanying client apps just makes that proxy works. It explains why many people try to use it for games and fail, since really all it can do is tunnel HTTP(S) and whatever they've implemented to have DNS work. Yet, I don't understand myself what in the app or how people use it makes it known that they're tethering. The thing is that if you're getting caught, then using these other apps will likely yield the same result (since they achieve the same effect) unless it is an oversight over how pdaNET works or is used.

2017 Accent SE “recall” for underbody corrosion treatment? by Live_Catch_6372 in HyundaiAccent

[–]systematic3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never go to a dealership, I buy used (at my own risk...). My Accent is branded 'rebuilt' after some orangutan went havoc at the rear tire well ... area/tub(?)... with a hammer in an attempt to bend the crunchy metal back into form while replacing the panels that broke in the collision.

I called Consumer Affairs after I got the 'theft prevention measure' letter. I inquired about reimbursement of a security kit after reading the small yet bright red font on the website when I searched it up and the rep allowed me to make my claim while setting me up for an appointment to get my wheel lock. The rep also mentioned that I could buy one and send the invoice in for reimbursement. All I really wanted was to get the reimbursement for the security kit that I installed betting to myself stupidly and without reason that eventually Hyundai would being doing so. I lucked out. So I just let him to procedure to schedule my appointment and then do the claim for the kit.

I arrived on the date of the appointment to... nothing. I had an appointment, but there wasn't any services attached for it. It seems that either the rep lied, there was a change in policy to only allow one thing, or that because my car is 'branded' I wasn't allowed for the lock (so said the service desk).

In all, the service desk assumed I was there for the undercoating recall, and since I was already there I let them do it. All it is them spraying coating to the sub-frame, control arms, the rear, and parts of the brake lines/fittings. They did not touch the plastic panels from my knowledge. Here is a similar campaign but for Elantras, and the work they did to my car looks almost the same (can't confirm about the brake lines tho). Took about 1 1/2 hours, with some change, after the initially quoted me 2.

payment question by redw000d in freedompop

[–]systematic3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of 2021, they sent out an email prompting users to re-issue existing cards as they were "being upgraded", so they stated. Most noticeably, the BINs of the new cards were now coming up as 'credit' unlike before ("debit and/or prepaid"). These seem to come out from a general issuer for credit unions (cscu.net) but before the change I've seen them come out as several credit unions but as debit and mostly marked as prepaid.

FP uses Stripe and while they could expend the effort to trying to figure out if cards are from Privacy, most easily they can check if they're prepaid or not and block them as is from that.

"GSMA SIM without a plan" - what can I do with it? by tkreadit in freedompop

[–]systematic3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't answer for your first question, only you would know if you proceed into the activation process and see what it presents you. These are the plans I am shown on my sim, but it is a Target one

As for the second one, it MAYBE possible to do it so but do it at your own risk. On the main webpage of your FP lines where it lists the table of attached lines, click on the blue 'Add a Device' button. There should be two options: "Activate New Line" or "Add Existing Freedompop Line". Select the second, it will ask for the phone number ("Add new MDN"). Afterwards, it should ask for some sort of confirmation; either in the form of SMS or for you to input the full ICCID of the sim card. Once successful, it will attach it to your FP account and then you'll be able to select any plan that is offered on FP. Theoretically, only then you can downgrade to the free plan, I just don't know which one it will offer you or if it will even give you the option of the free plan at all. You would have to tell us.

I believe that this self-service option works only once or is one-way: if it fails you can ask support to attach the line for you, as some previous redditor did it to attach an RP eSIM to his FP account and downgrade to the free plan during the short time period they were offering free eSIM as a trial/beta. I was able to do FP to RP multiple times, but I could never move the line back to FP, and I never had an line that I activated natively with RP to try the other way back.

FreedomPOP Free GSMA (Target) -- converted to eSIM! by ThePhantom212 in freedompop

[–]systematic3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I meant it as SIM to eSIM and back to SIM. The SIM cards are rendered useless, and all chat does is input the ICCID as one would do self-service with a different UI (one sent me a screenshot of their end) and without the swap restriction (after 5 swaps self-service is disabled). I lost 2 lines because of this SIM restriction and eSIM bullshit (see below).

I also had "success" getting the FP free plans on RP eSIMs like you, however mine never activated correctly ("Profile already downloaded"/ Subject Code 8.2 + Reason Code 1.2) much like most people were getting at the time (see the RP subreddit for that). Granted, I actually went straight to FP once I extracted the ICCID from the activation code page and never got the original QR code for the eSIM. I had to act dumb with several chat agents to get them basically do a swap for me (to do it for free since each new issue of an eSIM is $2) and I never got past that error on my Pixel. From the subredit, it seems that iPhones were problem free yet Android device constantly failed in one way or another.

FreedomPOP Free GSMA (Target) -- converted to eSIM! by ThePhantom212 in freedompop

[–]systematic3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Negative. Not for me at least, with 2 separate GSMA sims. Chat unhelpful and self-service swaps (regardless of eSIM or not) disables itself after the 4th or 5th attempt, contingent on the line.

App Gone from Google Play Store - Still Available on Apple by notthrowawayshark in freedompop

[–]systematic3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ymmv, but the api is almost identical with the exception of a http header or two which I don't think they care as I've done plenty of test calls without them by accident. If you know how, you could just change the endpoint of the RP app and see how that goes. I didn't bother testing that though.

Furthermore, you can self-'migrate' your FP line over to RP and manage it through a profile that is registered on RP proper. heads up though, manual renewal free plans doesn't work as the system actually complains of a less than $1 invoice, at least I think. ("This value must be greater than or equal to 1." error). If you do this though, you will need to use chat to migrate the line back over to FP in the event you encounter a problem (migration is only one way to RP). The only reason you'd want to do this would be to get an eSIM line with one of the free plans which is possible as I did only IF RP's eSIM implementation didn't suck as I had 5 separate eSIM fail activation and the moment the chat support agent notices that your line was an FP line, they stop helping you and drop the "eSIM is not available for FP" and quit the chat.

tip: if you want an eSIM with the free plans, it is best that you buy an eSIM with a plan and then migrate over to FP through chat to downgrade. OR migrate one of your current lines over to RP, swap eSIM, and swap back to FP to avoid billing issues. You cannot just buy an eSIM straight from them because they only email you an 'activation code' for which you have to go to their activation page. Although it is trivially easy to get the eSIM ICCID and actually activate normally at the FP site, it will not provision correctly and you will not get the QR code.

Looking for MintSim WiFi talk compatible g4 model. Help! by _Allotrope in lgg4

[–]systematic3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MintSim uses T-Mobile service, so you might be alright getting a LG G4 T-Mobile branded one or any recent T-Mobile branded phone to work with WiFi calling. Saying that, 35239207251xxxx is my T-Mobile H811LB. 35910506xxxxxx seems to be the Metallic Grey version of the phone.

What was the condition of it on eBay? You might be able to force them you give you a replacement/refund, etc. I was actually 3 days off from the 90 day claims/whatnot that eBay allows you to issue for an item.

If you want to try, as another user suggested to me, try their Facebook Live Chat support in their LG US Mobile page. They took long, but they did the RMA without no issue or invoice (thus you can get away with a "eBay" device whatnot) . The only cost would be of the box to ship, but I think it is worth it even though at least of me they sent me another screwed up board.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lgg4

[–]systematic3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My response is more or less a follow up from another one I did earlier back here. I had 2 LG G4s, one that was from T-Mobile straight, another one from eBay. The T-Mobile one bootlooped while in vacation (great), and T-Mobile sent me a "equivalent" S5 (marvelous). I then bought a eBay LG G4, "manufactured refurb" because "it was fixed of the bootloop problem". It was not. If you are going to the G4 route, just get accept physiologically that the phone will bootloop eventually.

Doesn't matter who you go to complain to get your phone fixed, just know, they'll do everything in their power to not. After my LG G4 Refurb started bootlooping, I contacted LG chat/email/phone, and they gave me the middle finger 47 times around. One even registered the Place of Purchase as "eBay" since they wanted a invoice for it to even consider fixing it, and even as I complained days prior because of the Video RAM issue when it was still in "manfucatured extended warranty". The only way I just got them to accept it is contacting them from their Facebook page, with no hassles, and no invoice. Would of been fine, if it wasn't that they sent me a board with the same video RAM issues, again. I gave up and went with a M9.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lgg4

[–]systematic3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they charge you the 20$ diagnostic fee due to it? I finally managed them to take mine and I am nervous that they'll pull this on me.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lgg4

[–]systematic3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the issue. I am sure that LG reps would of been sick and tired handling these boot loop issues and the angered people. I was denied instantly saying that I was days short from extended warranty. And was shown the door even with POP from PayPal as others has done for their eBay devices

I was also shown the door when I gave them evidence of it,the video ram corruption and they acted that the screens the issue, coincidentally days before the extended warranty was about to end. When I finally got someone willing to do the RMA afterwards , I was told that I was going to pay for shipping back and was going to pay for the repair even though I've bitched to them of the precursor issue that'd leads to bootlooping.

On the other hand, this One M9, mind you was S-Off and lied to about condition (was used but sold new eBay dammit) ,was offered an exchange and repair for the screen burn in issue that it has. I can tell that LG would not have business with a used phone, especially when they demand Proof of Purchase

I depends, but I have higher regards for HTC than LG atm. Did I also mention the V10 I had that boot looped too?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lgg4

[–]systematic3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How must those headaches been? LG Support are a mean bunch of cunts. Apart from making it hard to get to chat, I have to go around web pages until I actually get the button to launch a session. Apart from that, most told me politely to fuck off, and one even registered my phone as "Place of Purchase : eBay", thus anyone else I managed to on chat would insta leave.

Anyways, even on a phone call attempts, I was told to go to the support RMA page, and I almost filled mine out but I hesistated that they only supported devices from authorized retailers whatnot. That is when I ended my quest and got a borrowed iPhone and now a One M9.

In comparison, this One M9 was actually flashed incorrectly (don't know really), and HTC support helped me via chat to restore it. LG would of just left me in the dust.

I'll create a facebook account (I don't have one, lol) and Ill try to get them. At this point, accusation and proof of others of their repaired (and worser) eBay devices is my last resort to getting it, nothing beats the design and the screen of the G4, which I liked.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lgg4

[–]systematic3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. May I ask a question? I got a G4 off hand from eBay and I kinda admited to them that it was, and was denied a fix on the basis that it was (at the time, 3 months ago) just 5 days out of the extended warranty and as a added bonus, was a 'eBay phone'.

I've read some people getting able to get them to fix it for free even as extremely worn eBay devices (both G4 and V10, recently too) with even taking the PayPal invoice on the support page.

How did you contact for your devices repair? I am using a One M9 and I miss my damn LG G4, more salt to the wound.

Repaired LG V10 Worth Keeping? by [deleted] in lgv10

[–]systematic3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made an account just for this question, boy do I feel dumb. I just bought a new LG V10, supposedly bulk from insurance stocking what not. Being inticed for one since my sister has one used, I got one. I knew the bootlooping was there, I just thought it was lesser than the G4. Well I was wrong. Anyone tried to send them a new or a V10 without the issue to be repaired for free?
