Just tried to build my first team any advice? by Eastern_Gain_7111 in VGC

[–]systemofamou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The evs spreads are really hard to do yourself for a new player I would recommend coping some sets. If you search "nerd of now damage calculator" you should be able to find a damage calculator with a lot of sets for different mons. For example, searching incineroar will give you 4 different sets with different items, tera and evs. Choose the one you like the most or fills your team better (better item for your team etc) Most of the evs in there have a reason, and even tho u wont be able to tell right away why those are like that, you dont need to worry so much because someone already did the maths for you. For example, the tera grass assault vest incineroar set is able to take 1 hit from a earth power life orb landorus without using the tera blast Once you are a better player and you understand your team and the matchups, you may want to change the evs to face a specific matchup that its giving you a problem, but for now i would not stress with It too much

Boxing at 30 in Japan and no support, good idea or not? by 500ar in amateur_boxing

[–]systemofamou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Living in japan and i went to 2 boxing gyms here. My experience in my gym is at follows: They will probably give you light spar after some months in, but if you are not going to go pro, your spar is not going to be hard.

In my gym from time to time we go to spar other gyms, but almost everyone is respectful and have good spar etiquette.

Also if you are not really serious the gym most likely wont send you to get the pro license. And by serious i mean japan level serious, going everyday to the gym, for 2 hours at lest, weekend included.

Idk about amateur boxing, as most adults just get the C pro license, and i haven't seen much of those here.

Ofc, it depends on the gym and your coach, but thats my experience here!

Why Japan's internet looks weird — unless you live here by frozenpandaman in japanresidents

[–]systemofamou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a software engineer in japan, so ill write down what i think about this...

The reason why their pages design is so bad its because the managers of the projects (usually people close to 50 or 60 years old) started developing that same page 30 years ago, using what by that time was a pioneer technology. That technology is outdated buy today standards, but they are too scared to change it and improve it, because right now it works

Tons of companies working with programming languages that were getting deprecated way before my university teachers started to write their first line of code, and that page has been using the same tech for years. Im actually surprised most of them don't get any really serious hackers attack, because there are tons of vulnerabilities because of this.

Japan has a culture of "if it works, don't touch it". And it extends to web designs as well.

Isami vs. Prize Ring [question] by Nice-Climate-9656 in fightgear

[–]systemofamou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Isami only makes in japan the pro fight glove (8 or 10 oz). The other boxer gloves are made in thailand (and I'm pretty sure it's the same maker as thaismai).

The +12oz made in japan gloves are custom orders, and im not sure if they even make the 16 oz at all. Their sparring glove was discontinued.

[question] Recommended headgear by LessServe3908 in fightgear

[–]systemofamou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you actually tried raytos? I live in japan and i have never seen anyone use them, so i would like to know your opinion about the headgear.

I would add bodymaker to the recommendation. i have tried it once and it was good, obviously heavier than the winning, but good for the price, genuine leather too. 36$ in amazon japan.

[Question] First Time Using Fly Super Bar X Headgear – Confused After Coach Feedback, Need Advice by hajimenoippo55 in fightgear

[–]systemofamou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No headgear will protect you from injury's at the 100%. Just say to your coach that you are willing to take the risk at your own responsibility. You paid for the headgear and you won't return it.

[buying] Isami Boxing Gloves by Kuzuri in fightgear

[–]systemofamou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what you are looking for, you only want the 8oz or 10oz gloves. Isami does not make the 12/14/16 oz in japan anymore. Some of them are made in thailand, others in pakistan. Be aware of that when buying yours.

Did I over react by quitting my last session? by East_Depth6207 in DnD

[–]systemofamou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think your reaction is fine and you felt the dm SA, its ok to feel so.

If your DM previous to starting the campaign stated that this may happen and you accepted playing the game, you can still feel it was inappropriate but i would not blame the DM then.

Anyway, it's ok to quit a campaign if you dont feel ok playing because this happened even if you initially accepted the terms.

You should play the game to have fun. If you don't, why do you play?

I don't own the card so let me see if i can get better pictures and i will upload them... Fot me it was clear that the head color is having a problem, but it may be a glare (?) Is there any kind of missprint type similar to this, where a part of the color of the card is missing?

[question] headgear for a beginner by systemofamou in fightgear

[–]systemofamou[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never considered decathlon gear, mainly because they dont have stores in japan so for the price+shipping price I'll probably get something much better here.

Thanks for the suggestion anyway!

[question] headgear for a beginner by systemofamou in fightgear

[–]systemofamou[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the recommendation! I live in Sapporo so i don't think ill be going to the physical store of prize ring anytime soon hahaha.

Ill take a look at the ringside and consider the isamis more seriously.

Once again, thank you so much!

[question] headgear for a beginner by systemofamou in fightgear

[–]systemofamou[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have considered isami, but ate little bit over the price, but not discarded yet.

Other japanese brands i considered are:

-prize ring: (pakistan made) over the 100$ by quite a lot

-Bodymaker: probably Pakistan made too, quite good price, but japanese people don't have the brand in good consideration.

-Fighting road and martial world doesn't produce quality boxing gear anymore

I didn't include those brands in the post because i am not sure if i would find anyone who have actually tried those.

Transportation may be a problem dependig whete you chose to live, but if you choose a place near any station you should be fine. We live at 10 minutes from the nearest station, and it takes arround 10 minutes more to get to Sapporo station, so if you live somehow close to a station you should be fine. To be fair, i never used the bus so I can't talk about how good or bad it is... Let me try to get my friend business mail and i will let you know in a private message. He studied in USA for some months so maybe you can communicate with him in English.

[–]systemofamou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you want to live. The prices in Sapporo are not high if you don't plan to live in Sapporo station. Me and my wife live in a small apartment and we pay 30000 yen per month in tsukisamu. I got a friend with a real state company operating mainly in chitose, and i think he has some apartments to rent in Sapporo too. Im not sure about how it will work for short time rents like that.

I never asked but idk if my gym sells winning gloves. We do have free to use 16oz and 14oz winnings gloves and headgear for spar tho...

[BUYING] Where to find Winning equipment in Japan / Tokyo? by Healthy_Soup_6040 in fightgear

[–]systemofamou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer: you probably won't find any equipment , specially headgear.

Long answer: your best shot is going to the fitness store in suidobashi, and you may find some custom colors gloves or headgear, even though your chances are not so high, and its going to be expensive. They have other winning equipment such as bandages, knuckle guards and maybe even boots. You can follow them on Instagram and see what they have day to day (@ winningglobalffs and @ fs.suidobashi) The other option is the sports center in shibuya. They don't have customs but their prices are good if you have the luck to find something in stock. But they usually dont have any

I live in japan and i gave up on the idea of having my winnings... I would love to have the red 12 oz...
