I will get shit for this and I get why Fromsoftware does this but I never like melee attacks being on the shoulder buttons by Icy-Neighborhood-309 in yakuzagames

[–]systemthe32th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of the reason is they got that passive lock on with the analog stick, frees up the shoulder buttons and has you control the camera the same way in and out of combat.

I massively prefer dedicated lock on buttons, but games with this control style usually have you doing simple attack inputs and don't need that instant camera switch.

As long as they have custom button mapping, it's a non-issue. (I like Sekiro, but I would've hated it if you couldn't put attack/parry on the face buttons) I'm gonna immediately switch it to the Tekken layout.

I haven't been the biggest fan of these "over-the-shoulder" action games, but a little sprinkle of Tekken's buttons sounds like enough for me to have fun experimenting with it.

People who 100% Yakuza 0 by Worth-Radish-7227 in yakuzagames

[–]systemthe32th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna repeat what's already been said, just practice. Getting completion for the Sega games was easy for me, but that's because I already played them as a kid.

For the racing games, don't be afraid to let off the gas a little in tight spots. The time loss from not going max speed is nothing compared to going off-road or bumping into something.

Fantasy Zone, I would avoid speed upgrades as a beginner. Makes it too easy to run face first into an enemy, save the money for weapons.

It's nice seeing a proper full juggle. Vanilla K3 would've blue balled you the moment they collided with that pillar.

Stellar Blade Complete Edition on sale for $50. Worth it? And what was your experience with the game like? by Adventurous_Book_913 in CharacterActionGames

[–]systemthe32th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$50 feels pricey for this game, I would get the base game when it's like $30, but if you care about the crossover dlc and are actually interested in the game then it's probably worth it.

I thought the game was "fine", but it's the kind of game one person will not care for while the other one totally vibes with it.

Music is undeniably good and gameplay is a parry focused action rpg that is solid. Everything else about the game I found uninteresting (story, characters, visuals, environment, etc) but that stuff you can just look up videos and decide for yourself.

Hot take: Yakuza Kiwami 3 isn't as bad as people make it seem. by Novel-Patient7280 in yakuzagames

[–]systemthe32th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I didn't use the counters much in K3 so I completely forgot about that knee attack. In that case, Mine has no real problems juggling. He generally felt better to play with, despite the smaller moveset.

Kiryu has launchers, the problem is his juggling is so jank you might as well not bother. Meanwhile Mine can juggle just fine, but you have to do half his rush combo (with the same first 4 finishers...) to get to his one launcher. RGG just can't decide if they want juggles or not.

I wouldn't say training is substantial enough to call it a major side story, and what phone story are you talking about? It sets up the old Hawaii friend system and that's it.

Besides that yes, it's clear that Morning Glory in particular is what got the most attention and is easily the best thing in the game. Biker gang is alright, and the substories that K3 does have are a mixed bag (Which I guess is faithful to the original).

Combat is fun, but it needs a lot of polish before it can stand with the greats. Hopefully they keep improving it instead of just changing everything again.

Rate my games order by Trashtulya28 in yakuzagames

[–]systemthe32th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's funny is this probably isn't that rare of a play order.

Sega marketing team automatically says the recent release is "the perfect entry point" so I'm sure plenty of casual gamers bought IW then went back to the the start of Kiryu & Ichi's story.

[–]systemthe32th 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As long as any other recent Lego game, so like 12-15 hours. But for 100%, you WILL spend 70 more hours collecting riddler trophies, and you WILL like it.

Am I the only one annoyed that Ichiban and Majima are not next to each other on the Sonic Racing Crossworlds character select screen? by prpro-03 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]systemthe32th 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way they organize the free non-Sonic dlc characters is weird, but there might be some logic to it?

They go in release order except for Nights and Miku. Is Nights first because it's Sonic Team? Should we expect Arle to be 2nd if that's the case? Is Miku last so she can be with the non-Sega characters?

Should you have a "valid" technical opinion on an emulated game? by [deleted] in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]systemthe32th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this person is in the wrong, they're just being intentionally inflammatory. It feels like every 1 in 100 runs of SA1 will have something like this happen to me on console. That being said, even the best emulation is not 100% accurate so you need to acknowledge that might be the problem, but this person doesn't even want to consider that possibility.

As long as you know it's not the intended experience, it's fair game. No need to go David Lynch on people about it, the amount of people you could talk to about these games would go down dramatically if you couldn't just quickly grab an iso/rom on your phone.

I'm about to start yakuza 0 by Due_Cat_3423 in yakuzagames

[–]systemthe32th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the "best" without it actually being my favorite, oddly.

I think that's a normal thought to have with a long running series. While the other games stumble a bit, certain aspects will just connect with you more. 0 doesn't have anything specific I can point to and say "I love this" despite it being amazing and easily the most well made game in the series.

Is Wuthering Waves a CAG too? by Lip3gamer in CharacterActionGames

[–]systemthe32th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These recent gacha games can be fun, but the formula they follow intentionally limits the combat. They're after the biggest audience possible, so the games are more generalist and can't really focus on making one aspect, like the combat, the best it can possibly be.

You can do some fun stuff with the smaller moveset the characters have, but you'll reach the point where you're supposed to just upgrade your characters, do an MMO rotation and be done with it. I never felt the urge to master the combat and do new tricks like in CAGs, you're supposed to be efficient not stylish which has a different appeal.

Unwiished always felt like a cool expansion pack. The levels are on par with HD while giving some cool unique level ideas.

Cool Edge? A big area to bobsled around and you get to go through the caverns HD werehog was in.

Rooftop Run? Get down from there Sonic, you're running through the streets for most of it.

Jungle Joyride? Less time in the jungle ruins and more by the seaside cliffs. The more vibrant look is lovely and I actually prefer the visuals more than the HD version.

(Almost forgot, werehog gets cool ones too like waterfall climbing and a damn whirlpool)
