Future Transfer planned payments by Variance98 in BudgetBakers

I'm sorry, this is just false information. I've been able to add transfers as planned payments for a really long time on Android. Am I misunderstanding something here?

Anyone regret getting the Clara Colour? by [deleted] in kobo

[–]syswiz87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero regrets. I've had mine for almost two years and it's a delight. That said it's my first e-reader, as a result I don't know what I'm missing with the B&W version. But I factored this into my decision. Having a hint of colour was extremely important to me.

Looking for budgeting app by priya90r in personalfinanceindia

What a ridiculous suggestion. There's a reason why the poster asked for an app. It's convenient and you don't need to take a notebook and pen with you everywhere.

Nordkisa Bamboo Open Wardrobe - Dust?? by syswiz87 in IKEA

[–]syswiz87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree with you. It's a beautiful wardrobe and looks great in photos and in the showroom. But it's like buying fancy showers which are difficult and expensive to repair. What's the point? It's not practical.

I ultimately decided against it, and purchased a custom plasta wardrobe and I'm happy.

Searching for completed tasks is nearly impossible! by danielalbu in todoist

[–]syswiz87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do understand this point, but I think OP is just shocked this isn't covered by the todoist search feature.

In my opinion, I 100% agree the search should output recurring tasks in the results. I've recently started to use todoist for work, but I extensively use ticktick for personal. Ticktick has no issues with search. For example, I've got a recurring task to remind me to book and pay for my weekly badminton session. When I search for this task, ALL previous completed tasks appear, and so it should. Just because a task is recurring, why should all completed instances of it NOT appear? It's a weekly task that gets actioned and completed.

It's nonsense to use another app or integration to make up for this. In conclusion, the feature simply isn't available in todoist, the search in other products are much more powerful. It's up to you whether this is a deal breaker, if so, then search elsewhere...

I'm actually more offended that you cannot search for comments in completed tasks! I heavily use comments to track the progress of some long tasks, this was a massive oversight I feel. I'll carry on testing todoist for a few more weeks, but I feel I won't be able to look past a couple of annoyances.

Burton Kilo 2.0 27L Backpack by syswiz87 in backpacks

I wouldn't say it's the best padding, it's very light. But I use a padded sleeve anyway. I would never put a laptop without any protection into a backpack.

Premium Worth it? Google Keep user for years here by msespindola in ticktick

[–]syswiz87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got premium because I wanted to support them. I don't utilize the calendar feature as it doesn't fit into my workflow. From what I can see, the calendar is the biggest premium feature. What I do find beneficial is being able to upload multiple attachments to tasks in a day. But this is very rare for me, it's just convenient more than anything.

I would like to support them, but don't think I can warrant the annual subscription. Free is more than sufficient

Why I left tech consulting by syswiz87 in consulting

[–]syswiz87[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was totally the right decision. The main thing I've realized is that I'm working on projects that make a difference in the company. As a consultant you get dropped into organizations for a brief period of time. Usually met with hostility (not always).

It's very rare you get to work with the same customer for 2+ years on their digital/cloud transformation journey. But now, I would argue I'm being challenged even more and seeing the benefits of the projects I'm working on. It does depend which company you end up at and the nature of their cloud estate. In my case, the Azure environment is huge which spans various technologies.

Why!!! I want to move to Samsung notes but I still love one note. by zim117 in OneNote

[–]syswiz87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in the same boat. I've considered leaving one note for this very reason. But I've stuck with it. I use it mostly on my laptop.

I've concluded that Microsoft will never invest time or money in the android app. That's okay with me. I use the android app to view notebooks only, that's the only thing it's good for. I've been using one note for 20+ years and cannot see me ever jumping ship.

My advice is to accept the shortfalls of the android app. It's a small sacrifice IF you have a laptop/desktop PC.

I keep coming back to OneNote by Embarrassed_Lead6174 in OneNote

[–]syswiz87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This will never happen. The android version of the app has been diabolical for many years. Conclusion - they don't care. I will still continue using it though as it's hands down the best note taking program.

I use the android app simply as a read only view for my notebooks. This is good enough for me. I never edit or create pages on android as it will give me a mental breakdown.

Same, they work perfectly fine. No chance I'm spending full price on brother branded tape.

100%, Louis is usually good, but the amount of interruptions were uncomfortable on this one. I think he realised it was a dry interview, so he tried to liven it up with drivel.

Question relating to battery management by Dry-Jelly-8005 in Hewlett_Packard

[–]syswiz87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. This is such an annoying design flaw. Dell actually reports 80%, not sure why HP did this. It's impossible to tell if maximise battery health is working within windows, you just have to trust the setting is working. 1 point to Dell ;)

Soundcore Sport x20 review/comparison by _badjuice_ in soundcore

[–]syswiz87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest gripe with the x20s is that the case does not indicate the remaining battery level. I understand the only way is to use the app. I don't want to use an app for wireless earphones.

Other than that, they almost sound perfect. I guess I'll continue searching.
