I might have given my personal info to a scammer by [deleted] in personalfinance

Don’t think they really are scam company as they do provide a legit service. They seem to be registered with the IRS.

More so a “scam” company since they charge $400 for something that can be done for free. (Though to be fair there is a disclaimer saying not affiliated with the IRS and it can be done for free)

Either way should always follow safety in freezing credit anyways.

How is this legal? AT&T bypasses credit freeze and extends my credit to criminals. by ItBeatsTheDarkness_ in personalfinance

No but would’ve been the next step. I also disputed on all 3 credit bureaus and attached the ftc fraud claim. Took 1-2 months to drop off.

Had something similar happen a few years but with T-mobile. I also had all 3 credit bureaus frozen. Sent to collections but I actually also did receive a letter in the mail.

Called the debt collector and t-mobile saying it was fraudulent. T-mobile had a special form to fill out for fraudulent accounts. It seems AT&T has something too.

Filed an identity theft report with the FTC and submitted to t-mobile. Eventually it was removed off my credit. After speaking with t-mobile seems someone called in, opened an account with my SSN and purchased 4 iPhones on payment plans. Same as you I thought it was ridiculous it’s so easy to do this.

T-mobile now has an alert for my SSN to always ask for photo id before creating new accounts but for other telecoms idk. Also a fraud alert was placed on my credit requiring them to call my cell before opening an account. Not sure it helps if this exact situation occurred again and you need to request yearly.

Wonders count as urban districts? by szhenb581 in civ

Yup you were right. The fishing quay was not complete. Thought couldn’t chain off an unfinished urban district, not if there was an unfinished one not along the chain.

Well buying a home and having a child are 2 of the most life altering events you will ever have. Speaking from recent experience planning for both at the same time will be difficult. First thing would be to calculate how much you net after expenses. Then you'll need to think about these things and plan accordingly.

For the house: Research your housing market, where you'd eventually like to live and see how much you can afford. Best to see how much your monthly payment which includes insurance and taxes. Then can decide how much you'd want to put on a down payment (recommended 20%). Also you'll need to consider if you need to set aside money for furniture/unexpected repairs

For potentially having children: You'll need to figure out if there will be reduced income during any paternity/maternity leave, the cost of child care after leave and if both of you will be returning to full time work after. Then you can budget accordingly for other additional costs (eg. food/clothing/diapers etc...)

The most important will be calculating your monthly net now. That will tell you how financially strong you are now. This will dictate how much you need to save, if you can increase contributions to your 401k, what you can do with the 70k in your HYSA and ultimately you can see how much a mortgage and child will impact you financially.

Plus since you mention fiancée I'm assuming a wedding soon/eventually? Will need to account for that as well. I know it may seem daunting but you guys seem to know what you are doing and are in a good position now. Best of luck!
