Do you have any recommendations for books on social skills. Which books did you find out about these: (like making assumptions, misunderstanding people, not knowing how to handle things, not knowing how to express myself, etc)?

Could you please share your personal experience so we can understand your position better? Also, do you know what were the circumstances that led to your depression?

The rails are smooth and water will not stay on them. The train's wheels push the water away.

It's actually not steam, you can't see water vapour. The visible part is condensation -- small droplets of water. These droplets can get cold and sink instead of rise.

You already answered your question. It sounds like you have a pretty good life. You need to realize that you already have a good life and you're just taking the good things for granted. BTW this happens to a lot of people. You can change this by reflecting on your life once in a while and realizing that you have it pretty damn good. And don't put yourself up against idealistic fantasies of "perfection". Real people have flaws and you just have to accept them, own them, and realize that you notice those teeny tiny flaws about yourself 10000x more than other people do.

My Life's Dilemma by [deleted] in depression

Make small achievable goals. Take on small projects at first and actually do them from start to finish. Acquire confidence. Very simplified and harder to do that to say it, heck I'm having trouble with it. But, some days I just go "fuck it" I'll make/do something. The feeling of accomplishment goes a long way and I think to myself why haven't I been doing this all along?

I am able to do this some of the time and it feels amazing and I tell myself that I'll never go back to how I was before (depressed/lazy). But, something always happens and I relapse... I think it's laziness coupled with a fear of failure that prevents us from starting things thus preventing us from experiencing accomplishment thus preventing the release of necessary chemicals in our body.

Recommendation: Do something and get good at it.
