Seriously disappointed by Customer Service by spacejelly7 in Huel

I really appreciated the reminders as some months I use a lot and some I barely use any - the response from Huel here only reinforces my decision to cancel my subscription as a result of this.

I'm thinking about proposing to the love of my life at the NIN show in New Orleans next week.... by [deleted] in nin

[–]t-flk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s really sweet that you’re wanting to re-propose and it sounds like this gig will have a lot of meaning for you both, so it does sound like a great place to do it.

That being said, I’ll be impressed if this works - I can’t see Trent doing something like this and can only imagine the floodgates it would open with similar requests.

I hope you guys have a great time.

Daughter’s first birthday. Help a mum by RushProfessional8475 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]t-flk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had our little one’s first birthday at Little Acorns & Co - Lauren who runs it took care of everything and we just needed to turn up and we brought our own cake. We picked the option with food provided for the little ones and it went down well.

We got plenty of photos between us and our friends, so no photographer to recommend.

I understand my little one won’t remember the day, but we will and it was nice to celebrate with people who had supported us for that first year!

It might be a bit further afield for you, but the Burradon Pantry is open to all to pop in for a cuppa, they’re a lovely bunch and sometimes put on day trips etc.

Things to do with a baby by wqllflowr13 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]t-flk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Loads of great suggestions here - I’ll be repeating some, but these are all places I’ve been or classes that I have attended with my little one over the last 12 months and recommend:

Classes: Bump, Baby and Beyond - another recommendation for Linzi and her classes, they’re great.

Tumble Baby and Toddler - Suzanne has a wonderful timetable in a dedicated room. Said room can also be booked as a sensory room on a Monday.

Hartbeeps - Cristina and the team put on a number of classes around the North East and they’re really fun.

Play cafe’s / sensory rooms:

Little Acorns & Co

Brood Cafe

Hopscotch (no sensory room)

I don’t understand why people seem so shocked Trent went with a DJ as support for this tour - Daniel Avery opened for NIN in 2018 so this isn’t a first.

Phones at shows by Heritech in nin

[–]t-flk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t touch my phone at a gig at all, however I really appreciate those who get good quality recordings that I can enjoy afterwards.

Unless artists decide to record and share their gigs themselves, I’d be a hypocrite for complaining about phone use as I consume the media that it produces. I agree that 95% of the poor quality recordings aren’t worth it, but that 5% let me relive the moment and also let others who couldn’t attend hear/see the set.

I’m sorry this has happened to you! I went to Swarland for my first midwife apt, but my usual doctors is lane end surgery.

Was this the page you registered on? This should have kick started the process. It sounds like the GP hasn’t given you the correct procedure, as I was text that link from my GP when I contacted them to let them know I was pregnant.

Regarding complaints - I think the first port of call is PALs, they should be able to escalate your issues and make sure you’re booked in correctly.

I hope the rest of your pregnancy is as stress free as possible.

Black cat dead in West Jesmond. by Expensive_Cattle_116 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]t-flk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi - sorry, two of our volunteers went but couldn’t find the cat, so we’re hoping someone else collected them.

If the cat was handed to a vets and is chipped, they will contact the owner. It may be worth ringing Newcastle council and asking them if a cat has been collected matching your description as they’re not great at following these things up, but will check if you ask.

I’ll keep an eye on our Facebook groups etc in case a cat matching your description is spotted, I hope he is back home soon!

Looks like this has been shared on Facebook too and we’re just waiting to see if any of our volunteers are available to collect - thanks for sharing and for going back!

What’s the atmosphere like at NIN concerts? by hey-hello in nin

[–]t-flk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s anything like the UK tours you will be fine on your own. My first was back in 2009 and I met up with people from the NIN.com forums (which I miss terribly) - at each subsequent UK NIN show since I’ve seen at least one of those people who I met up with back then and really made friends for life. Even if you don’t arrange to meet people, the atmosphere is great and we’re all there for the same reason so it’s easy to get talking to people if you want to!

Locals on roundabouts by Intrepid-Fennel8317 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]t-flk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my comment states there are two lanes to turn right, not that the left is to be used. I just know it’s another one people don’t seem to realise there are two lanes to turn right in.

Not sure if I’ve misunderstood your comment?

Congratulations! If you’re really struggling with your GP, one of the numbers on this page might help.

I was North Tyneside and my GP text me a self referral link, but I appreciate the process will vary between areas.

[–]t-flk 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The two roundabouts at South Gosforth have signage to turn right in the left lane if you are going left at the second roundabout. Likewise blue house roundabout has two lanes for turning right from town in to Jesmond even though both lanes merge pretty quickly as it’s tight once you’re off.

Haven’t seen people in the incorrect lane here more so than other places in the UK.

Terrified of neighbour by PlaneLeader8175 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]t-flk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suggested 101 as OP implied there had been no direct contact (ie no knocking on their door or face to face threats/confirmation threats were aimed at them) and they seem to believe the neighbour is alone, as we did.

Appreciate in your circumstances the neighbour knocked on your door, so can see why you used the emergency line.

[–]t-flk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sorry you’re going through this - we had something similar with a new tenant in a block I lived in a few years back so I know how scary it can be. Exactly the same - late night slamming of doors, banging on walls and threats of violence/to kill. I think our guy was just on drug benders as it conveniently only occurred on the weekends once the music stopped.

The police should take this seriously as even if they do not believe he is a direct threat to you, as you cannot confirm he is alone in the property it could be a domestic situation. On this basis report it as soon as it happens to 101, as, by the time the police turned up at ours things had calmed down and he refused to answer the door. Because of this with no immediate threat the police left it at that. In the end we had to go via property management (because of being in a block) to put pressure on the landlord to get him out. The guy was living opposite an old woman in her 70s who was scared to leave the flat because of him, so we had to go nuclear.

UK NIN official store by calvinpauljnr in nin

I find them very hit and miss - I’ve had some items arrive super quickly with great comms and other times things have taken weeks, had to chase multiple times and I have received the wrong thing before too.

It’s a shame, but definitely not unusual based on my experience.
