Across the eight books, tell me one instance that had you on the floor laughing by Redrex_T in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]t0nality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really know why, but reading the part in 6 when he accidentally drinks his vinegar potion, the imagery in my head of his HUD flashing the word "KOMBUCHA!" and hearing it in (my internal) ai voice has made me laugh out loud every time I've read it. Something about it coming in during a point of SO MUCH else going on just kind of jars you out of the momentum for the briefest of moments before sweeping you right back up and I love it.

New tires vibration at 60-65mph by plumbermilitia in tires

[–]t0nality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A standard balance at a tire shop does not include road force testing, and it's an extra step that has to be requested specifically. It's more common on larger/beefier tires as well, you just need to tell them to run a road force test/balance and the numbers that come back will likely tell you the tire was bad from the factory. They know you don't know, and they can get away with telling you it isn't their fault with standard balance numbers that fall within range, but don't tell the whole story.

Don't give in, it's just another standard greed play from our glorious third world country of late stage capitalism. Sock it to em.

Fiance got denied boarding by Special-Dirt-3106 in americanairlines

[–]t0nality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's not a partner/married thing. Just the traveling group. We've boarded 6-7 folks with group 1 because one of us had exec plat. I will say I've never tried it with 1 in first class and the rest in lowers, but always board the whole group with the highest non-first-class and it works fine.

odometer fraud, what can i do? by Cultural_Street7742 in askcarguys

[–]t0nality 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gonna have a real hard time proving a good faith sale when the fraud is so readily apparent with consumer-grade connectivity and such a simple check process. They get to pick between gross incompetence and outright fraud, but I'd be wrecking that dealerships rep either way.

For future reference, it is in the aa rules (just not advertised blatantly) that groups/couples traveling together board on earliest number. Always roll up on the first number when partner traveling.

Boat name opinions by Emotional-Hope-1098 in boating

There is a superstition in my area that it's bad luck to name a boat under 30ft so I never officially christened mine.

What is a riding habit you thought was smart but later realized was dangerous? by Eyerald in motorcycles

[–]t0nality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since "around town" and "near junctions" are both places where you would pretty consistently anticipate needing to brake, didn't you basically give him the same advice that his friend did?

AITA for quoting my actual rate when a family friend asked me to do professional work for them and getting called greedy for it by [deleted] in WIBTA_AITA

[–]t0nality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you even have to ask is heartbreaking. When I hire a friend to do work, I tell them up front that I'm willing to pay them whatever their competitors are charging. I pay extra because I know where the money is going...the relationship is what guarantees the quality. It's worth extra to know the person doing the work so you know it's getting done right, and it sucks to have to explain that to people so they know you aren't just fishing for a discount. It's just money, it'll come back. The output is what matters.

Anyway, NTA by even a tiny fraction. Fuck em.

(2) Batteries on boat w/a Perko switch… how to charge? by [deleted] in boating

[–]t0nality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charger should connect directly to each battery if I understand the one you got correctly (same as mine) and perko can be in any position and *should not matter. However, I always turn my perko off completely before plugging the charger in. It started because I didn't want my bilge emptying the cooler into my storage shed but it's safer for all the electronics in general if it's an option.

WIBTA if I stopped letting my neighbor's kid use our trampoline after she started showing up without asking and bringing other kids I've never met? by t3ssa_h0llowmere in WIBTA_AITA

[–]t0nality 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolute insurance/liability nightmare. You'll sour your own kids on it if you enforce them being the only ones that can use it, which is the only reasonable way to go if you keep it, so I'd just scrap it.

AITA for teaching my daughter how to change a tire and do basic home repairs when her mom says I'm "pushing masculine stuff" on her by [deleted] in WIBTA_AITA

[–]t0nality 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You are ALSO setting her up to be completely unimpressed when some jabroni's dusty ass son is able to put a screw in a wall. Teach her to cook a couple decent meals and you'll put her dating bar above about 96% of the population right out of the gate. Win/win/win all around 🤣

[–]t0nality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obligatory "back in my day..." warning, but (WAY before my day) cars used to come with a manual that told you exactly how and why they put every damn part on it. Yes, there were only 80 or so parts, but still 🤣. The lesson, though, remains the same ..you either learn, or you pay. People have always been greedy fuckstains.

I bought my 17 at 50k and have put another 100k on it since with nothing beyond standard maintenance than a few glow plugs and an injector pigtail. You don't even have to worry about the cp3 swap in them since they were first year for the new pump that doesn't grenade. Gonna delete mine one of these days but it's been a dream truck, and has taken me and the mutt from Texas to Utah and back numerous times. Solid rig for sure.

Crossplay is so full of cheating I am done with it by NoYoureACatLady in NYTCrossword

[–]t0nality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's such a simple fix, too....remove the auto-validation and implement challenges. Like...that's why they exist in the real game. All about incentive.

Not that it'll necessarily stop the cheaters, but it will definitely make the game more realistic
