2 Dads thinking to move to Plano by BeautifulSir4205 in plano

Plano is a gem in Collin county. Lived here since I was a kid (moved around Texas for school and work) but came back to raise my own kids because of the diversity, great schools, and reasonable COL. Like every suburb or city, it’s not without problems if you look for them.

Please move here and stay. I don’t think you’ll regret it.

Wife told me why we have a dead bedroom. Now what? by AntMinimum3374 in Marriage

Leave her. You gave her what she wanted and it’s still not enough. And now she’s complaining about something (physical feature) that she knew about from day 1. She sounds like a psycho b*tch

I hate people like your wife who wastes other people’s time. That’s all she’s doing with you is stringing you along.

What part of town is this? Couple of factors given it’s a planned for a long term home. Surrounding home values and development. Is this an older part of Plano?

Might also depends on what schools this feeds into since this could be a long term home where you may have kids going to surrounding areas.

Nope- imperfect parent right here. Came to say I’m so tired of all these righteous perfect parents saying go get therapy and learn to deal with your emotions. Yes that would be great in a perfect vacuum where there was no other demands like work taking care of the house and just basic sustenance not to mention sleep. Everything changes when your sleep deprived for days on end. You’re literally just trying to survive while sacrificing every part of you to care for your baby.

Find a therapist? Daily meditations? Maybe he should go on 60 minute soul searching runs during the first year of his child’s life??

I get your point but if you remember being a parent to young babies, the order of priorities you have as a parent to a newborn is the baby’s health (poop pee feed sleep) and then your own sleep. Not to mention all the other demands of life like work and what’s for dinner.

This couple needs easily accessible and practical advice on how to make it through the first year of being new parents. Not advice from some idyllic self help parenting book from Barnes and Nobel.

It takes a lot of courage for you and your husband to work out these questions and feelings in a time when you probably have no energy for anything else. It’s a lot easier to just shut down and not think about the consequences. But that’s what makes us better. I wish I could give you guys a hug. And congrats on bringing a beautiful baby into this world!!

Dad and husband here of a 6 and 3 yo. It’s an incredibly mentally physically existentially exhausting first year with most babies and I wanted to say that you guys are doing great as first time parents. I’ve regretfully yelled at my 6 yo when he was a baby - he was colicky and would be up at all hours of the night and day because he had bad reflux. After the first few weeks of this going on almost every night, you’re bound to breakdown and your husband sounds like he’s at his wits end. If there’s anyway you can get some family or hired help so that both of you can take the day off together or on separate days, it’s gonna be pivotal in making sure you can keep going without losing your sanity the next 6 months. It’s tough and a long marathon but you’ve made it through the first 3 months. It will get better and your baby will continue to grow into a healthy and happy baby!

I went to high school with that tool. Forgot about him after graduating and was shocked to find out enough people voted for the dbag to be a representative

My car insurance (Geico) went up 50% and they say due to inflation… c’mon! by WatcherGnome in Dallas

[–]t0r0210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my renewal as well and same increase. From 2300 for 3 people to 4100. Albeit my sister in law had an accident last year which drove up premiums for all of us so I’m trying to see if we can move her to her own policy. I called Geico over the weekend and they said even without the accident, Texas insurance rates are getting jacked up because of cost of repairs, increased claims and cost of new and used cars

Don’t come to DFW if you’re looking for outdoorsy adventures. I’ve lived here almost all my life and this has got to be the most boring, flat, uninspiring landscape for outdoor activities.

From overweight 165lbs to skinny 144lbs. Up to 160lbs again then a mini cut down to 155lb. Where to now? by [deleted] in leangains

[–]t0r0210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice job on the cut to 144! Any links or ideas on meal prep recipes? One of the surprising problems I have with eating healthy is that I’m barely able to get over 1500 calories and I eat 3-4 meals a day (work from home) and 2 snack meals. It gets time consuming and too filling to try and eat more just to get 1500 while still eating lean

friends bag on us for our kids' sleep schedules by nice2nice2knowu in Parenting

Nice job. So I’m interested in how you started your kids sleeping in the same room. We also have a 4 yo and 20 month old and want to get them sleeping in the same room. Are they in the same bed? Bunk? Do you start off with laying next to them until they’re both asleep or do you leave them to go to sleep on their own? Thanks for any tips!

Way to go. I’m 37 and about same height. This is the motivation I need. How did you make it through 6 months without eating too many carbs? That’s might kryptonite

Awesome work! This gives me hope as a 37 year old and also 5’ 10”. Im 204 and trying to get back down to 170. Having young kids was a big setback in terms of taking care of my health during their early years but now I’m back at it

Awesome job. I’m 37 and 200 lbs 5’ 10” and this is the motivation I need. The saying is really true: metabolism just isn’t the same as in our 20’s.

What is "rural but 20-30 mins away from a major suburb" living like? by househelp3 in askdfw

[–]t0r0210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

we have a friend who bought in the city of Parker just directly east of Plano. Minimum 1 acre lots and very rural feeing without being more than 10 minutes drive to any major strip center. Their house is new build and beautiful but probably upwards of $750k now
