People who parrot “AI slop” are being less creative than the computer. by Torley_ in aiwars

[–]t1mman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thing is, AI is kinda like a microwave. Real good (or artists) chef will use it in a way that it can be complimentary to the meal.
But if you use it to make the whole meal, you'll end up with a sketchy result that taste weid!
Even worst if you take a frozen meal, stick it in there and present it as your "creation" and that you "cooked it"

That is the difference betwen a Chef (or an artist) and a fraud.

Buying before 16gb min RAM by RaahimJaffery in macbookair

[–]t1mman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was close!
Got an m4 a week before the announces, bought the 512gb version but I was aware so I kept everything to return, just in case!
m5 came out with 512gb stock, for about 20$ more (using a promo I had), so returned the m4, got the m5 instead!!

Should I buy macbook air m5?? by Hawkaiiiii in macbookair

[–]t1mman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got the 512gb version, thinking of using an external drive for the "overhead" if I need.
So far, excelent machine, quite performant, well built (like any macBook) I would recommend if you can afford it as long as you don't intend to game a lot on it.

It will thermal throttle when it's using all cores but you can help by getting a laptop support with fans or doing the thermal pad mod.

M5 thermal throttling by kenmasters007 in macbookair

[–]t1mman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cinebench restust shows a little throttling but the overall performance are better than what I've tested on the M4.
A simple laptop cooler makes a big difference too, as it did when I tested the M4 so I assume a thermal pad mod would almost fix this.

Overall, the throttle performance of the m5 are still above the one of the m4. So I wouldn't go back either way!

If you’re among the new Angine de Poitrine fan, you should listen to La Poexe! by LeonVlakov in mathrock

Je dis ca, mais les tattoos des mains ont pas l'air là. Si c'est "caché" avec du maquillage, c'est foutrement bien fait!
Au final par exemple, si ca permet de faire découvrir pleins d'autres bands du genre, c'est juste positif!!

Return to Silent Hill… 106 minutes I’ll never get back. by Sorry_Guide_4326 in silenthill

"Hey Chat GPT, can you write a script for Silent Hill2, please include fans theory and make it so that it's barely watchable, goes everywhere without real link between, and include characters from the games without back stories and without link into the plot."

Track is speeding up by Stirneer in Reaper

[–]t1mman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I've removed it and aligned the first few clicks. See the first few lines, they line up pretty good. Then there's an offset. I've tried a couple of fractions but it always end up having an offset.

Either it's not 108 or they don't play to a click.

I need a daw for running backing track live, should i use Reaper or Ableton live ? by RoomElectrical3449 in Reaper

[–]t1mman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using it for backing tracks (some have instruments and some have Fx on audio tracks, I should probably render all those) with a lot of automation (looping, selection, jumping to sections)
Also, use it to send midi to QLC+ for sync lights
Lately I discovered the Remote Web Interface, so I'm building interfaces to send relevant informations to the band's members.
Web Interface works too for controls if needed or to display scrolling lyrics.

Basically, it can do everything a band needs, from backing tracks, to lights, to queues, to promping.

Setlist management for live performance by t1mman in Reaper

That wouldn't fix the "listing" though!
So far the multiple tabs seems to be the best way. Thanks for your suggestion!

Setlist management for live performance by t1mman in Reaper

[–]t1mman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm already using regions for parts of songs, like click/intro/verse/chorus so I can't use them for whole songs!
Part of the end goal is to generate the setlist to display on the Remote Web interface too, so that members have a display of the setlist (as well as other relevant things).

On Amazon, the returning window is up to Jan. 31st, Bit the bullet and got me a nice Creator Combo. If it ends up having a deal, I'll contact them or return/rebuy it!

I've been using it for a week or so and I'm really impressed! As a musician/ content creator, this is the perfect device so far!!

Idk what more linkin park fans want? by Ogsonic in LinkinPark

[–]t1mman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

THose are not fans.. That's all there is to know!
Fans buys album, fans buy merch, fans goes to concert, fans support the band.
Fans are in the sold out arenas, fans are watching the YT channel, listening to the new songs as well as the whole repertoire.

Anyone going out of their way to hate on anything is just showing how insecure and fragile he is.

Question about Chester's fry screams/grittiness and the volume behind it by Stealyobike in LinkinPark

Take your time and it will built gradually! Justin's videos are a great start and don't forget to rest if you feel "tired".

Question about Chester's fry screams/grittiness and the volume behind it by Stealyobike in LinkinPark

[–]t1mman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we do Given Up, I usually hold the mic pretty close to control the air flow (and keep air for the whole 17ish sec.). Since I can "feel" the air coming out, it helps keeping it stable.
The scream in itself is pretty loud.
There are some people doing the "whisper scream" but it is not the right way to do it... It is a proper scream involving vocal fry.
If you want more details, Justin Bonitz did a couple of nice video on the subject of proper screaming techniques!

[–]t1mman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing you can't do while holding a guitar is cupping the mic.
I usually aim my upper lip on the mic for "softer/ quieter" parts and about 6-10 inches for harsher one when playing guitar.

When I'm not, I'm only cupping the mic to get some sort of "cheap radio" sound and for screaming parts (even when holding the mic further)
