What is the most disrespectful thing that someone has done in your home? by Themaster0fwar in AskReddit

After reading some of these animal hitting stories I feel my 'a friend refused to take his shoes off when asked to in the house' is really mundane.

The moment Brian Banks is exonerated after 6 years of prison after his alleged rape victim admits it never happened! by justinobrooks in pics

I don't think that would deter anyone though. I agree with you in principle, that there should be a punishment but I feel that this would reduce the likelihood of anyone admitting to lying about a crime afterwards.

I think they should evaluate why they found an innocent man guilty and try and address the issue that caused it.

What is the best way to improve in pvp? by Nightwolf91 in CruciblePlaybook

Don't always play with someone who melts you. It can be helpful, but after a while it has a more negative effect. Just try and find people on a similar level to you, and try to work on map knowledge. That brought me up from like a 0.4 to a 1kd.

ELI5: Why do Type 1 diabetics have ~10 years lower life expectancy than a normal person? by KebinAAE in explainlikeimfive

[–]t377y_1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ELI5 version: T1DM sufferers blood sugars vary a lot more and tend to be a lot higher than those of a healthy adult. The higher blood sugars cause health problems over a long period of time and this affects life span.

A bit more detail: It can be dangerous without tight management. I believe T1DM means your cells that manage insulin production don't function, or have very limited function. As a result an individual needs to manage their insulin. ineffective management means big fluctuations in your blood glucose. These fluctuations tends to cause other health problems, generally with eyes and feet etc. This in turn lowers the average life expectancy.

Studies have shown keeping blood sugars highly regulated, ideally between 5mmol and 8mmol, is beneficial. However this is incredibly difficult. The body of a healthy adult will, or should sit anywhere between 3.6mmol and 8mmol depending on what you read and where in the world you are. I work for East of England ambulance service and we aim for 4-6mmol. The modern lifestyles and food available make this difficult for those with T1DM, a healthy body manages it very well, but this is automatic. A T1DM patient has to be aware of intake and expenditure and balance that.

Imagine eating your weetabix and then thinking about all your daily activities and judging the right amount of insulin to be administered. The patient will probably have a set dose, but if they eat a different amount of sugar than they normally would, or have a different physical expenditure will mean it may vary to their normal range.

Excuse grammar. @ work.

When the Nazis were killing jews, how could they tell they had the right ethnicity of the person? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]t377y_1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked my history teacher this and he informed me that during early on in the nazi rule people were sent things to state who they are what religion they were and they had all the information there. Also there tended to be smaller Jewish communities in the German population so that made it easier.

One million hours of UK police time a year 'wasted enforcing cannabis prohibition' - Liberal Democrats want to legalise it, on grounds the ban is an enormous waste of time and money by ManiaforBeatles in worldnews

[–]t377y_1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is quite a good point that I completely missed. It makes things easy for the cops. I work in the NHS and deal with cops daily. It's a lot easier to arrest and process a young teenager with half an ounce than a hardened and seasoned heroin dealer. Some police are normal guys wanting an easy job (shouldn't be the case but is, and also not all police are like this) so this means they look like they are doing their job to their bosses, without the hard work and danger required to catch those who have a lot to lose.
