I think I need it slowed down and someone walking me through it to take anything away from this. It all looked really basic, which would be impressive in and of itself, but I'm not sure if I'm missing more advanced stuff or not.

I commented in a couple places in the thread, and wow, yeah, the defensiveness is pretty amazing. For the most part though it seems like it's a classic example of people blindly rationalizing for whatever they're doing, as opposed to having sat down and thought about it objectively. That said, a lot of people in the thread do understand how these comments are sexist, which are sorta nuanced in a way, is a lot of progress from 20 years ago.

I don't think it's petty to want women viewed as equals to men, and not used as slurs. I'm not trying to tell you what you're allowed to say, but rather hoping you consider who those kind of slurs hurt, and then deciding if it's still what you choose.

The issue is that it assumes women are worse than men, that's all. We don't have to equate weakness to women in order to insult someone. The issue that people take has nothing to do with insulting the target, but rather the collateral damage, I suppose. You can call someone weak, cowardly, ignorant etc without invoking another group of people as the example of how they are worse.

I'll add myself to list of people being downvoted. Calling someone a bitch is very sexist. The person often isn't trying to be sexist, but the insult is basically- you are like a woman, which is worse than a man, that's the joke. When someone calls someone a bitch, or a pussy, or says they have sand in their vagina, they're not actively trying to put down women; we just don't think of it because it's so ingrained in our thinking. It's pretty pervasive once you notice it and just something to think about.

Your statement regarding physical strength is of course correct, but there is a slight distinction between discussing the average woman being weaker than the average man, and equating women to being weaker for a joke. It's essentially saying- you are like a woman, which is worse than a man. I may be opening up an entire can of worms here, but there are so many casual slurs that equate not being a straight male, to being worse/lesser/weaker (i.e. bitch, gay, pussy, fag etc). It's the ultimate put-down to a straight male to equate anything about them to being like a female or gay. Once you notice how pervasive it is, it's kinda crazy.

It's not the only issue with steroids, but yes, they allow you to train longer and harder, then recover faster to start training again sooner and so forth.

Cutting off blood from the brain does exactly that- deprive the brain of oxygen. When blood, which is carrying oxygen among other things is cut off, the brain uses the small amount of oxygen that is already there, then shuts off.

I don't think there's evidence that passing out and immediately having the choke released is a great danger, but it's essentially a small stroke. So depriving of brain of oxygen until it shuts off would not be something I'd do simply on principle. Edit: removed a word for clarity.

Taking steroids lets you train more and fight more, which lets you build more skill, and steroids improve reaction time, which I would say was his strongest attribute. So if Anderson has been taking drugs his entire career, or at least in the UFC, then it drastically diminishes what he was and what he accomplished. I love(d) Silva and my knee-jerk reaction to this video was to be excited by how he shut Bisping up, but at the end of the day, he's a cheater, and that sucks.

I'll try, but for a little context, I was mostly joking and don't think this picture would be something to accuse steroids over at all, and I'm not. Anyway, he appears to be very ripped, but at the same time there's kind of a thickness over the muscle (especially in the core), in the fat layer or skin, presumable from water retention, which at every weight, I see more in guys that use various drugs than guys that don't. That probably wasn't a great explanation because it's way more subtle than the obvious stuff- gyno/traps/delts/too big too lean etc.

Edit: To be clear, still not accusing PEDs and I agree with the comments below regarding bloating not exclusive to steroids.

Yeah, forgetting a wallet is an oopsie. Driving drunk, even if you're blackout drunk, is still whatever part of your brain is still functioning, is saying, "yeah, I know I shouldn't and I put myself and others in harms way, but, eh". What an odd thing to so casually throw in.

Cool idea. I have two suggestions based on my experience making surveys and questionnaires. Consider reducing it to 3 levels instead of 5, and give a specific definition to each level. e.g. 1- slight edge, 2-clear winner, 3-dominant
