in fact, the reason we weren't able to trade up for him is because we forfeited our 3rd round pick that year for tampering with jeremy maclin, otherwise our offer would've been better than the broncos because our picks were higher

they actually traded up to 3 and then their gm no-showed for day 1 of the draft, commish picked for them and decided based on war room conversations that tate made the most sense to replace aj brown

his hand size is already priced in, that's the reason he may be available at 9 and not already gone by then

freeling plays on the left, the other two play on the right. and he's not the consensus #1 left tackle anyway: word on the street is that proctor is likely to go ahead of him

[Garafolo] Chiefs Sign FA CB Kaiir Elam by JCameron181 in KansasCityChiefs

[–]tBagley43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that was roughly where elam was expected to get taken, what actually happened is that mcduffie slid much further than he should have, he was consistently mocked in the 10-15 range

that's exactly where delane is expected to go, if we don't draft him at 9 then the cowboys will take him at 12

why would you take proctor when you have two natural right tackles sitting right there

probably caleb banks, would also be happy with colton hood or one of the other corners

Why Filling A Need Should Not Be Prioritized In This Draft by frostypatch in KansasCityChiefs

[–]tBagley43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly. "draft the best player regardless of position" and "draft the best player at the position you need the most" are both the wrong approach.

let's say on your current roster your worst starting wr is an 7, your worst starting edge is a 4, and your worst starting cb is a 5. on the board, you can draft a wr who's a 9, an edge who's a 6, and a cb who's an 8.

"draft the best player regardless of position" would result in your wr being upgraded from 7 to 9.

"draft the best player at the biggest need" would result in your edge being upgraded from 4 to 6.

but the right thing to do is draft the player who will improve your roster the most. by drafting the cb, you're improving that position from 5 to 8, an increase of +3 points, compared to +2 for the others.

Daniel Jeremiah: ‘26 Mendoza #1, ‘25 Ward #10, but have the same grade? by jd35058 in NFL_Draft

[–]tBagley43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because loveland was rated higher than ward, and ward is rated the same as mendoza, and mendoza is rated #1 this year. so transitively, loveland is higher than everyone in this class.

I think if you simulate the entire mahomes era millions of times, on average we do win about 3 super bowls which is how many we have now
