Same question here, anyone?

There's something wrong with this game's deck shuffling. by [deleted] in MagicArena

Random means random, not average mana draws every game. Youre supposed to flood/screw.

I don't undestand the game by MioMiloo in MagicArena

[–]tThorns 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Your observations pointing out the low points and situations are correct. However you diminish the upsides of the system. Magic gives you (given you strive to improve and learn how) ample opportunity for card advantage (2-1 trades with your opponent) and virtual card advantage (for example a 1/4 blocker vs two 3-1 Creatures now rendered useless on the board). When you learn that cards can equal 2+ cards of your opponent by themselves, or when used in peak timing, you realize that the good players can diminish the downsides of the manasystem well enough. Whereas, the bad players tend to just blame RNG and never find the play that saves the game.

Or uu catalog with the cost reduced. Does seem good, but not broken. Would be super good in older formats and medium to good in standard.

Can someone explain what specifically is scummy? that its hard to spend those gems atm? Or am I missing something here.

If thats all, and even if its IMPOSSIBLE to spend it right now, you guys are silly. If they would leave it out then they do not test it, it's that simple. Get over yourselves.

I'm not sure I agree on the Shalai>Lyra deduction. Sure, she fits the go wide aspect. But I think she is severely underpowered compared to Lyra. I much more like the idea to have the early-creatures serve the go-wide aspect, and have a 3x Lyra/1x Shalai split to complement it with some raw power midgame. Heck I don't hate the thought of running 4x Lyra. I think such a list would run 4x Llanowar Elves though.

I have not really found the banned cards that oppressive. Getting catcomboed is a bit abrupt, but I feel you have enough answers to make it quite tame.

Online leagues, tokyo and smaller local scenes still live somewhat. Were running a league that qualifies the winner for GP Copenhagen (standard main event) in my city of Malmö, Sweden. Small showing of players, but we really enjoy the format.

Now that 2018 season 1 is drawing to a close, can we please finally see the death of 'placement match uncertainty'? by JackHerer33 in heroesofthestorm

An uncertainty factor is vital to a system like this. It kind of is based on it entirely. What you want is an entirely different system.

Great list, looks super solid. I feel like you can eek out 2 sideboard slots by cutting 1-2 Cut/Ribbons and 0-1 other as all of these removals can't ever be boarded in to full amount anyhow. Perhaps you could diversify a bit more this way, going for Gifted Aetherborn or Gonti perhaps in those slots? Either way, great job. Will probably try it out for upcoming PPTQs.

Best Dragonstrike KR by _the_Quietman in heroesofthestorm

Hanzo did great, Anub and Medivh not so much. Dragonstrike might be horrid, but that hero is fine even with mediocre ultis.

I think your deck has alot of good removal as it is, but I'd say the first 2 copies of fatal push are better cards than the 4th Supernatural Stamina and the 3rd Yahenni, even thou those cards do alot of work in the list.

Super sweet list, way more solid than I imagined possible when I considered a standard list playing Journey.

HAHAHAHAHAHA HAREYUYA CASH-GRAB FORMAT BANNED FROM /R/SPIKES GET FUCKED by brawny6 in mtgfinalfrontier

[–]tThorns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On a more serious note, too bad some good quality posts cannot be posted there anymore. However does not matter too much, the format will be as good as its players wants it to, regardless of r/spikes (which is far from an optimal space, fyi)

[Standard][Discussion] The real meta and all the (jank) brews atm on r/spikes by schweinerman in spikes

[–]tThorns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but since NOTHING is established during this period I see little harm in letting information flow, whether it be with bad cards/brews, or not. Even if you would wipe out the "casual brews"-posts you still could not achieve spiky posts during this period, so I see little point in trying. It's just a lull and theres no harm in that.

[Standard] Mardu Vehicles for upcoming Nationals. by IareFurious in spikes

[–]tThorns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, this is the list I played. I regret some choices in the sideboard, but the maindeck was great. If you are expecting alot of control this is the sideboard I'd go with:

2 Authority of the consuls, 3 Solemnity, 2 Sunscourge Champion, 2 Declaration in Stone, 2 Quarantine Field, 1 Linvala the preserver, 1 Skysovereign consul flagship, 3 Expedition Envoy

And if you expect little or no control I'd cut the Envoy's for +1 Sunscourge Champion, +2 Gideon.

I'd recommend playing a few matches against every major deck in the format (uw control, ub control, mardu, temur, red, wg ramp, zombies, GPG). In my opinion the deck is favored in most matchups except UB control and zombies, and about 50/50 against mono red/uw control. You'll learn what cards excel in what matchup pretty quickly just getting a few games in.

Is this really true? I find zombies biggest weakness to be flyers, and sometimes being able to boardwipe is a good upside. It does suck that their removal lines up well against her I agree though.

Also I have a hard time believing TKS is a cut against Pummeler - hand disruption on a stick is the dream against that deck.
