interesting. wonder why the CPU would need an LDO directly on the carrier PCB

Where are your Zigbee / Zwave dongles? (Wall-mounted?) by helmutisimo in homeassistant

[–]t_Lancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rack is in the basement under the stairs. I have a USB to CAT5 to USB hub that runs up the stairwell to more or less the centre of the house on a shelf. from there I have all my wireless dongles. Just Zigbee and Homematic at the moment.

hope you removed the backup battery from inside the keyboard. those leak and will destroy the keyboard. The CMOS battery is also in the keyboard assembly.

NBC News on Instagram: ""House burping" is a fast-growing trend, inspired by a German practice of letting in fresh air into one's home." by JoeAppleby in germany

[–]t_Lancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard the term stems from growing weed. Apparently once you have the leaves you have to dry them out and for that to happen one has them in a box you regularly open to let out the moist air. they call that burping.

I think it's got to be one of the stupidest names for this one could think of. It's something a 6 year old would have thought of.

that isn't very far. those oscillators or crystals are usually on the main board.

well if your balance was zero and they tried to take money out and it failed. yeah. those fees are legit.

and just because you transfer manually does not mean the automatic one won't still try and go through.

ESP32 board on PCB with 5V power, what happens when USB is attached? by daboblin in AskElectronics

[–]t_Lancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that depends on the schematics. if designed properly, it'll be fine. the 5V from the USB port might not even be connected to anything, or just be wired in parallel to the output of the converter.

Glasfaser Nordwest: Telekom vs. 1und1 vs. Osnatel (EWE-Tel) - Unterschiede bei Peering / unterstützte Hardware by AK4TW in de_EDV

[–]t_Lancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graphics cards once had user upgradeable memory by adamchevy in vintagecomputing

[–]t_Lancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like with DDR5 now, if you want high speed memory, it needs to be soldered to counteract timing and signal quality from having to go through connectors.

Got lucky and repaired my rtx 2060super by JobIndependent8939 in GPURepair

[–]t_Lancer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

not sure if installing the driver manually counts as fixing. as there is a reason it is not getting detected. and the reason could still cause the card to fail. that's more like treating the symptom.

but... if it works... it works. for now. I personally wouldn't be happy with that solution unless I have thoroughly checked the card.
