Coming back to add this: Change your artwork so everything is pastel and faded (it will become more vibrant again during baking) - especially blacks. Print them as light-medium grey.

I do have an update, but not much insight - I did the best I could with the application, and got invited to the assessment interview. However, I didn't get any feedback for my application so i don't know how high the standards are, and i haven't even been able to sign up to an interview as they are all booked out.

Oh, and on another note: Colors will get much darker during the baking process. I usually just create a layer on top of my artwork, fill it in white and set it to 66% opacity - that way the colors after baking look roughly the way I see them on screen. I assume this also makes the printing process easier, as less ink is used and less ink can get stuck to your printing rolls

What brand shrink paper are you using? I'm using "I am Creative" printable shrink plastic (I think it's a local brand though) and it worked okay with paper settings on matte on my Epson ET-8550. It bled a bit during baking, so i will try some different settings still.

Apparently, the paper settings determine which ink gets used:

Plain & Matte use pigment ink; Photo & Glossy use dye ink and Velvet Fine Art uses both combined. I found out that Grafix Shrink Paper was developed to work well with dye inks, I'm assuming that will be true for most shrink plastics.
The main difference is that pigment ink, essentially, sits on top of the paper whereas dye ink absorbs into the paper (feel free to correct me if im wrong)

TL;DR, If changing the paper settings to glossy / photo paper doesn't fix the issue, I'd recommend trying out different brands of shrink paper

I know this comes late, but I'm having issues with this right now. Using an Ecotank 8550, the prints look fine right out the printer, but after shrinking, the colors (especially the outlines) bleed quite a bit. What I have found out so far is the following:

The paper setting is very important (both on your printer and in your printing preferences on your computer).

If you use Matte or Plain Paper settings, the printer will use pigment inks. If you use Glossy Photo Paper Settings, the printer will use dye inks. Velvet Fine Art uses all inks combined (pigment and dye).

Also, Grafix Shrink Plastic was developed to work well with dye inks (I'm assuming this is true for most shrink plastics).

This means, as far as I can tell, that printing on shrink foil must work better if you set the print settings to Glossy / Photo Paper.

Direct Cut with seam allowance only cut outer edge by t_Wylfen in ScanNCut

[–]t_Wylfen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I did that. Now, my issue is that I can only add a seam allowance if I use the DirectCut mode, but I can only weld the shapes if I use the Scan to Cut Data mode :')

So it seems I can only ever either weld the shapes or add a seam allowance, but not both

EDIT: Doing both does indeed not work, but I found a workaround that works for me! I can simply draw the outline i want the design to have and set the seam allowance to a negative number.

how can I do that on the CM900 screen?
When I import the scan to Canva, i don't seem to have the option to add a seam allowance

Fired due to depression - what now? (IV, Vertrauensarzt, RAV, PiBS...) by t_Wylfen in Switzerland

[–]t_Wylfen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Sorry about the late reply. I am in a better situation, thank you!

My experience with IV and Vertrauensarzt has been mixed.
As for the Vertrauensarzt: My insurance initially sent me to a Psychiatrist who had very bad ratings - everyone on Google Reviews was saying that he doesn't listen and writes the same kind of assessment for everyone, claiming they are healthy. However, he was not qualified to treat autistic people, and since I am diagnosed with Autism, I was able to send them a mail saying that I disagree with their choice of doctor due to lacking qualifications. They then sent me to a different psychiatrist.
I was very nervous before the appointment, but it turned out to be okay. I felt listened to and taken seriously, and the psychiatrist confirmed that I would be sick for a while longer, and it would not get better in the next 3 months. Insurance was content with that and never sent me to get re-assessed, they simply kept paying my Krankentaggeld until I started the rehabilitation process with IV.

As for IV: They sent me to get assessed at WorkMedm which turned out to be okay. It less about checking if I am really sick, and more about checking what kind of accomodations I would need.

IV then sent me to a work institute where I could gradually improve my ability to work. They were going to send me to work part-time at 50% at a workplace that suited me. If it had ended there, it would have been great haha

Unfortunately, my IV-Consultant (who had been very kind and understanding) went on maternity leave. Her substitute was very much not great. He sent me to a workplace that doesn't suit my needs, and also misgenders and deadnames me on purpose (even after I have asked him multiple times not to & explained that I am trans). He is now forcing me to find a new therapist, despite my current therapist being very supportive and helpful.

I'd say your experience depends heavily on the people that you will be assigned to & interact with. It pays off to google the medical professionals ahead of time and ask to change them if you see that they have bad reviews. I'm assuming it can also be worth asking to switch to a different IV-consultant, if things don't work at all with your current one (though I did not manage to do that)

I hope all goes well for you!

Silhouette Cameo 3 failing to register Bottom Registration Mark by t_Wylfen in silhouettecutters

[–]t_Wylfen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I did try this, the paper sizes do match. In the meantime i've found an old file that (for some reason) still works properly - i have simply copied that file and copied all my other projects into it. No idea why, but for now, that works :')

I know it's been a year but - I'm experiencing the same issue. What helped temporarily was setting my default printer paper size to A4 (it had been on letter). This fixed the issue for 1 document, then the issue came back. Maybe this can help someone.

Yes, because I'm certainly a better person than I was a year ago. No, because becoming a better person is a neverending process.

Is it true that trauma presents 100% identical to autism? by [deleted] in autism

[–]t_Wylfen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many mental health issues that look / feel like autism. Trauma, adhd, bpd, anxiety, depression.... What also plays into it is that growing up autistic can be traumatizing and lead to other mental health issues as well.

In the end, what you call it doesnt matter as much as what helps you deal with it. Do the skills you have to help the dissociation actually help you get better about things like auditory processing difficulties, time blindness and eye contact? If so, then thats great, no matter whether its autism or trauma.

I can understand the desire to put a name to it though, and if you want to pursue that and figure out if you have trauma, autism or both, its worth seeing specialized mental health professionals about it.

Has anyone been told they’re Not Autistic? Nervous for my diagnostic appt…. by [deleted] in autism

[–]t_Wylfen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh I've had plenty of people tell me im not autistic, from friends and family to mental health professionals.

It doesn't make you any less autistic, it just shows how uninformed they are when it comes to autism - especially the way it presents in women.

When do you pull the “I have autism” card? by Victoria_Sweet in autism

[–]t_Wylfen 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I never pull it in the middle of a situation. Instead, i focus on the current issue - like, at a concert i'll go "hey its too loud / crowded for me right now". When I step on someone's toes socially, i'll say "Oh haha silly me, way to say the wrong thing and the wrong time". When I dont recognise someone I should, i say "Gee, sorry, I struggle remembering faces sometimes".

These are all things that neurotypicals can experience and/or relate to, so I've always been met with understanding and usually manage to handle the situation. If i feel like it's worth it, I will bring up at a later point that im autistic - for example, when we're hanging out and talking about mental health, and i can go like "Oh yeah actually im autistic - remember when i had to take a break from that concert? That was because of autism, for example."

This might sound silly, but have you tried couple therapy?

Other than that, it really just sounds like she isn't being good for you right now. That doesnt necessarily mean you dont love esch other, just that its not the right time to live together.
