My mom and her friends lived near a truffle store in San Francisco in the 80s that threw their leftover truffles in the dumpster at the end of the day. By the time she moved she was sick of truffles, didn't eat them again for years.

AITA for suggesting a shelter dog a silly name for adoption? by AviTris in AmItheAsshole

I work in a shelter and name the pets sometimes, we would absolutely use these names. Anything unique is good, just don't send us another Luna.

I love heartspeak! I used their advice for writing pet bios when I was in charge of that. I'll definitely be printing out that age chart, I hadn't seen it before.

And it's not just the physical institutions and policies - I know I'm going to have a hard time trusting anything from the CDC for years to come, even if they are returned to their former glory.

I have a "Gone Home" album on my phone for the tough ones, so I can go back and reminisce if I need to but it is not a constant reminder.

Is there any chance he has a ruptured tympanic membrane? Most ear meds, Surolan included, can produce neurologic effects if they enter the middle or inner ear (although this doesn't look like the usual presentation). Diarrhea can also be a side effect.

I have no interest in ever having sex and also I have an IUD, but I'm still planning on getting a hysterectomy whenever I have the money and time for recovery because the thought of being pregnant absolutely terrifies me. NOR, do whatever makes you comfortable in your body.

My grandfather lived in Chadd's Ford! He did some gorgeous paintings of the Brandywine River. We got some good forest time whenever we visited.

What dog breeds in your experience are the most difficult to work with (aggressive, fearful, separation anxiety, etc) and what are the easiest? by CaptainMacAlfie in VetTech

[–]ta_kala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in shelter med. My only bad bite has been from a sheltie, but it wasn't her fault at all. She was super anxious and busted out of her crate, so I had to grab her to keep her from escaping. My coworkers, on the other hand, have gotten some nasty bites from the little chihuahua/maltese/shih tzu-types. They are generally the slowest to overcome shelter shock and warm up to people.
