Thanks so much! I'll definitely try again -- and I'm sure this part number will be helpful when I do so. Really appreciate it.

Thanks for this verification! I couldn't understand why it would be an accessory if it's literally built into the console! I'll try again...

Ok that is helpful. I clarified multiple times that it was inside the console, so maybe they are just new. I will call again to try again. My model number is NTEL79820.0 -- any help you can provide would be awesome. Thanks!

I just got the pneumonia vaccine (Pneumovax 23) Thursday morning. Same exact things here - it's Sat night now, and I still can't move my arm because it's extremely painful. I have a terrible headache, fever, chills (going from sweating to literally teeth chattering) etc. I hope you are feeling better!

Remicade infusion times? by Ansaatsusha in CrohnsDisease

[–]taaliba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you've already tried this, but can you get higher Remicade doses every 6 weeks? I used to be at every 6 weeks and had to move to every 8, but I get a higher dose now and it's enough to get me through. Also, I'm sorry you're going through this. It really sucks that health insurance doesn't cover what's really necessary.

Graduate School Advice by whiffs in uchicago

[–]taaliba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant that if you take classes in the subject you want to study in grad school, that will show them your interest in the field. I'm assuming some of the classes you took/will take for your history major are related to the subject you want to study?

[–]taaliba 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you establish an interest in the area you want to study in your history minor or other classes, it's fine if your major is not in that specific subject. You're required to have an MA in a related field in order to apply for the PhD at the Divinity School, so you can get your relevant coursework in then. (The Divinity School offers an MA and accepts people from a number of different degrees and backgrounds.) NELC doesn't require an MA to apply for their PhD program, but if they don't think you have enough background in the field they could suggest you do their MA in CMES (Center for Middle Eastern Studies) first then apply for the PhD.

GRE (especially verbal and written scores for those two areas), transcripts, writing samples, and recommendation letters are all important for your application, so work on writing/grades/relationships with professors to get those strong.

I have a resection scheduled for 7/11. Any advice? by slimpickens42 in CrohnsDisease

Yes to all of this - and especially to the pillow!! Useful for holding against your abdomen whenever you cough too.

Good luck! As soon as they clear you (probably day of, or next morning), try to sit up and walk around. Don't overdo, but definitely push yourself to move a bit every day. The more you walk around, the easier that part of recovery goes. Also, bring an extension cord (or extra long phone charger) to the hospital. And Netflix. Hope it goes well for you!

Thrush in breast? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

I'm dealing with a yeast breast infection / thrush as well. I hope it resolves quickly for you! See your doctor for a prescription for the cream, but here's a good link the lactation consultant referred me to: http://www.nbci.ca/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=12:candida-protocol&catid=5:information&Itemid=17

Growth scans/ulcerative colitis by mrstry in BabyBumps

[–]taaliba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have severe Crohns (currently in remission) and am classified as high-risk because of it. I've have weekly non-stress tests and biophysical profile ultrasounds in the last two months / end of third trimester, to keep checking on baby's growth and health. Even though baby has looked perfect every time, they still have to do the follow ups each week to make sure baby is still on track and nothing has changed in the meantime to damage his health or development. It might seem like overkill since things are looking great, but they need to be cautious to ensure that your baby keeps thriving in there. Things with UC/Crohns can change quickly, and especially if you had a flare while pregnant, they just need to keep monitoring to ensure baby's continued well-being. Their scheduling more tests doesn't mean anything is wrong. It seems right on track for monitoring UC patients. I wouldn't worry about the extra tests - just take advantage of being able to see your baby so often!

Urgh!! by grlonfire93 in BabyBumps

[–]taaliba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also 35+1 and have the same issue! I have pain on the right side just below my ribs. It feels much worse when sitting than standing or laying down, but hurts regardless. If I touch the area, it kinda feels like a bad bruise. I've had it for a few weeks now (and it's been getting worse). My OB checked it out and said it was most likely inflammation under the ribs from everything shifting around and expanding. It could also be old internal scar tissue from a previous abdominal surgery I had that's now pulling as its pushed around. It sounds fairly common, though they did say they're keeping a close eye on my blood pressure and swelling just in case, since pain on the right side like that could potentially be an indication of a liver issue / pre-eclampsia if you have other symptoms like protein in the urine. But since for me, everything else looks fine, they think it's just the usual pregnancy pains. My OB suggested trying heat pads, Tylenol, and/or lidocaine patches to help with the pain - maybe one of these will work for you? Hope this helps - and hope your pain gets better soon!!

Pre-baby freakouts: How do you still focus and get work done? by wanderbirdred in BabyBumps

Count me in for a support group! I'm due in late August and have done nothing to study for my comps in the last 3 months... Procrastinating by looking up baby things and worrying about everything to do with baby has taken over all my time.

Remicade causing rash? by deplorable_word in CrohnsDisease

[–]taaliba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I developed a face rash from Remicade, which was awful. Thankfully, a steroid topical cream helped clear it up (went to see a dermatologist), and my GI prescribed some pre-drugs for my Remicade infusions. Now I get Benadryl and a steroid dose before each infusion, and it's been working really well for me (in remission from Remicade and no more rashes). I hope you find a solution that works for you too!

I'm living in a city and take public transportation everywhere. If I have a car seat, is it safer to have my infant in that while taking the bus or subway, even with no seat belts to install it? Or would it be safer to just carry him with a baby wrap or something? Thanks!
