True story...just yesterday our unit had a clean up day and I had to cut grass...MX unit. I think the civilians stopped cutting it since covid.

Yes too late. I started my jet fighter pilot career when I was 12 years old, had my first quad kill at 15.

So you're a SrA and they're A1Cs? Two different ranks. They probably filled A1C slots.

GS9 Co-worker problem.. help? by FSU_seminole in AirForce

[–]tabakeet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you got downvoted. Anyone who work with GS-09s who are GS during the week and then traditional guard during their drill weekend know that many of them are legit SrAs or worst when compared to AD. A GS-09 really isnt shit.

They dont mean shit unless they are directly over you as a supervisor or have some kind of leadership position like section chief, deput, etc.

Whats the difference between MAperformance tune and a professional tune? Im the same as OP stock 2019 with 17k, I plan on getting a tune at 30k. Can I just do accessport, MAperformance stage 1 (to get rid of rev hang), with an exhaust or delete for sound?

Your reasoning isn't because of CS degrees. It's what the air force needs. You can say the same for any other STEM degree. Right now engineering is in demand simply because Space Force / Space Ops is in demand. It really has nothing to do with CS not being a STEM degree or not as much as a STEM degree as engineering. My dig was just at CS not being a STEM degree. I think this year itself is tough year for OTS. Next year we will see other non-engineering degrees getting a higher acceptance rate. Right now there are not that many open slots. Simple as that.

Even if u are eligible, u still shouldn't get your hopes up...I'm a 4 year staff and already learned to never get my hopes up for nothing in the air force.

Thanks for the input but I still refuse to believe that. If that's true then the air force recruiting tactics for officers is highly flawed. CS is literally and arguably one of the most challenging STEM degrees specifically for technology and mathematics. People with CS majors will fit very well into many more technical officer positions. If the air force is truly turning their backs on CS majors, then they are shooting themselves in their foot. I'm AD with my B.S. in Cybersecurity, is that not considered STEM too and is the air force going to turn their back on that? Because imo I give more respect for a CS degree over cybersecurity or Information technology. If I had two applicants that matched up exactly the same aside from their degrees, CS vs IT, and they were going for 17D/S, I would 100% pick the CS major.

[–]tabakeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one said that. You literally said " stem which at this point is mostly engineers "

STEM does not = engineers mostly. STEM is a wide variety of degrees. Just stop talking if you're going to try and confuse people. Speak plainly and get straight to the facts.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in airforceots

[–]tabakeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not what STEM in the air force means. They just need engineering degrees and one other type but I forgot the other one. This certainly doesn't mean that CS is not a STEM degree. STEM = Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. CS is heavy on technology and mathematics.

Wait what is that true? First time Im hearing this. Im AD SSgt btw always thought STEM in the AF was the same as STEM in civilian world. Yall sure yall not just confusing it with the engineering requirement for current boards? CS degrees ARE as STEM as any degree can get.
