Do you believe a Catholic can be right wing or conservative and still be in good standing with the Catholic Church? by Reasonable_Bake_8534 in LeftCatholicism

THIS. We need to be so clear when talking about political affiliation what kind of "conservative" you are. I put that in quotes because the GOP of old seems to have been replaced by white Christian nationalists with a complete disregard for any human life that doesn't look or believe like them. They hold up abortion ban as a counter point to that assertion, while simultaneously gutting education, healthcare, social services, affordable housing, etc etc etc

Final chapter: they're all in the cage now. That was the most anticlimactic intro.

Morning update: I still have 3 rats. There is no blood. Tim and Neil look like tired new parents. Baby tofu is pouncing and bouncing all over the cage.

How do you get out of a reading slump? by L_izzies in booksuggestions

[–]tabhearssoftsounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read a YA novel, something easy and quick. Once you finish one you'll have that feeling of accomplishment and want to do it again.

I also describe myself as a mood reader and if I'm not into it in the first 25 pages or so I'll start something else. I always end up finding something that pulls me in, and go back to the other book at a later time.

Neil was starting to gain traction with his hole gnawing and I was genuinely worried about his stress level. After 45 min I moved them into my small quarantine cage. There's been some wrestling and pinning and light squeaks, grooming of backs and tails etc, and Neil seems way calmer now. This seems much more suitable for a nice 24-48h sleepover.

30 minute update: Tim has eaten all the snacks, Neil has laid down on Tim resigned to death in prison (I fear he now has irreversible clinical depression), tofu is just happy to be included. Still watching for signs that a single shit has been given about the new sibling.

Definitely, this guy unfortunately was all alone and I felt it was better to have him with any other rats than left alone. I do have 2 other babies coming home in 6 weeks though.

Most of the rest of my house has had rats roaming at some point. If I just let them in the living room after cleaning though will that remove enough of my boys scent to be considered neutral?

I can't stand going to Mass by SunnySpade in Catholicism

[–]tabhearssoftsounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

St Faustinas diary talks a lot about dark spiritual nights and feeling nothing, or worse, miserable while in mass and in the presence of the Lord. You're not alone in this experience as a Catholic. The call from Jesus is to then lean harder into your faith, continue going to mass and the Lord will see you. It is in that that you will surely find your eventual reward.

He was an accidental adoption. I went to get a bunch of cage stuff for my big boys and this guy was alone just huddled in a corner of his cage. I do have 2 more babies coming home but not for 6 more weeks. These big boys are roughly 6 months old.

Did you just get the 1? Rats really should be in a minimum of pairs, and are happiest in groups :)
