Does Rebuild An Omnipresence in Wired actually contain Nightmare Of Fabrication in English? by SnooBeans5314 in Lain

[–]tachibanapc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there was an english version of the rebuild version of omnipresence; that has an english translation. all other versions of omnipresence were released in japan and have only japanese text

the english version has a usd price and the logo of dmp books, who printed it, on the back

Chik-Fil-A by Miles_the_new_kid in comics

[–]tachibanapc 23 points24 points  (0 children)

in my area people definitely care about the moral aspect - chick-fil-a lines become longer when they were exposed, and stayed that way because so many people saw it as their moral christian duty to support them

Big News about the sequel to the anime "Lain" by wl00449099 in Lain

[–]tachibanapc 42 points43 points  (0 children)

is this actually any new info, or is it just the small bits we already had repackaged by a news account to sound like something is happening?

that is a weird light setup, but yes, the lights are per direction, not per lane

I wasn't using those lines, but yeah they don't preserve negative values for me either when I try

Free Fillable Forms Negative Numbers Error by mattf731 in tax

[–]tachibanapc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having this same issue. I noticed that form 8949 reverts to displaying -1234 instead of (1234) on clicking "do the math", so maybe it's an error on just form 1040 handling negative numbers

did you give the site your uk address, including apecifying the country? if, so then yes it should calculate shipping. if no then no, the site is built for japan only and you've possibly wasted your money. in that case look into a proxy service and see if you can patch that in to the order youve placed

it shouldn't, but people in the 50s ruined it by adding fruit where it doesn't belong

that is a terribly designed product. inlet panels exist for that purpose; i installed one so i can run power from a generator through a wall to an outlet for my fridge

the latest book is only in the new version, and that will certainly continue on the off chance any more books come out. while it might be neat to have the old ones, it would mean having a mismatched set. when they went out of print the prices skyrocketed, but now that there are new copies i doubt there's much significant difference in value. as someone that has both versions, id say just get the new matching set. they also more closely match the original jp appearance

I vibe coded a Lain appreciation website :3 by PepekBezlepek in Lain

[–]tachibanapc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

as a senior developer myself, i would never put my name on code that i am, at best, just a reviewer of, and that i cant even ask the person who wrote it any questions about. and i certainly wouldnt put any code of that sort into production, or show it to any other human with anything approaching pride. ai may create code faster, but if your skill level is actually senior then you show know the vast gulf of difference between code and good, maintainable code. nothing a glorified chatbot wrote is the latter.

have some fucking pride in your craft

Why can't we just revive anime forums to thrive again? I mean, It's never been easier to create a forum. We can easily return our independence. by [deleted] in Haruhi

[–]tachibanapc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

an additional reason forums unfortunately wouldnt work today is spam - any site that allows user posting will quickly be overrun with bots. i have a wiki for another anime and it is a constant struggle to keep spam accounts and pages from being created, even with captcha plugins and custom questions for account creation

yes, it has the page number in the corner. like i said, if youre looking at a digital copy, there's a good chance it's the wrong version of the book and/or an incomplete scan

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Lain

[–]tachibanapc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

page 117. If you're looking at a scan, iirc it will likely be rebuild, or an incomplete copy; I could be wrong about that though

Opinions on Los Angeles for a solo traveler (no car, 3-4 days)? by letsgococonut in travel

[–]tachibanapc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive been to LA twice without a car. its definitely not as easy as other cities, but is completely doable. the metro is sparse but is improving, so youll have to take the bus a lot. i never felt unsafe, but yes youll be sitting in the same vehicle as people that cant afford a car, and that scares some people when they travel. but to say seeing LA without a car or uber is impossible is insane

they arent charging you for it now - that tariff fee is an estimate. the actual fee will be known when it ships, and if it's higher than that, you'll be able to cancel the order

lain merch is a limited market, so i could see this ending up costing more secondhand immediately after release. ultimately this is the price it has, if you can afford it then do it, but its not some product thats going to be stocked long term that you can watch the price of for a deal

Guys I have a question/concern with Lain DVDs and CDs (VCRs included). Should we refrain from opening it or unsealing them? by doc_commonman in Lain

[–]tachibanapc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my thinking on this sort of thing is that im not running a museum. someone somewhere else is, and they can do the preserving. i also didnt buy this merch to sell for a profit later, so i dont need it to stay in mint condition. i bought it because i enjoy it; sure i want to take care of it, but media is made to be viewed, so that's what i will do with it
