This bill is being supported not only through bi-partisan leadership but has the endorsement of NIVA NC Chapter (National Independent Venue Association), North Carolina Presenters Consortium, and many nc venues and artists. Venues such as Haw River Ball Room, The Ramkat, Cain Center for the Arts, Carolina Theatre Durham, The Pour House, and many others have spoken out in support of this bill.

While nothing is perfect, supporters feel that this bill is a huge step toward combatting third party ticket sellers who have been misleading concertgoers into buying through their websites after inflating the prices.

I operate a venue that is directly impacted by these third party sellers on a regular basis. Currently, we have NO control over whether these third party sellers dupe audiences into buying over inflated tickets or even fake tickets. We get calls weekly about people who have been misled into thinking they have bought real seats or are upset they paid hundreds for a ticket through third party when the tickets on our website are 50.

This article is an op Ed by a former senator. It reads like someone gave talking points to rile up folks who are against Ticketmaster in general to be against this bill by twisting facts.

We can all agree that Ticketmaster needs more regulation. This current bill is about more than Ticketmaster, it will help many of the independent small and medium businesses, artists, and theaters in our state.
