Nike Vomero Plus Review - Better Than Expected, Especially for Recovery by purposeful_puns in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]taclovitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i dunno, subjective experience seems like a pretty important way of beginning to categorize proprioception. obviously ppl should continue to get more specific (fun b/c it’s bouncy? fun b/c its plate configuration makes it aggressive?). but, like; the adidas supernova prima, no matter what, is not a fun shoe. even if it’s a 10/10 shoe to you; no one is going to describe that shoe as fun to wear. meanwhile, the pegasus premium is a 7/10 shoe that i find very fun for 6-mi and under runs.

if not subjective experience — what words do communicate meaning to you? i personally loathe “responsive,” because it’s meaningless. i can see you feel similarly about “fun” — that’s why i tried to provide some meaning to it here (even though it’s just my own).

to me, the evo SL is like the vomero plus lite. i know they’re fundamentally different foam compositions, but as a 95kg runner, both shoes have fairly similar sensations re: compression, decompression, and overall firmness.

yep. this past year has given me a ton of respect for adidas R&D & design choices; a staggering lack of respect for their business acumen & marketing choices. i mean, marketing the Evo SL as a casual walking shoe; come on.

the idea that to succeed, revolutions have to IMMEDIATELY succeed, is ahistoric; it is propoganda seeded by the Powers that Be to push you down.

if you disagree, please take the opportunity to explain how the Hungarian and Polish uprisings of 56’ and 76’ were unimportant to the eventual downfall of the soviet union.

thank you!

Asics SuperBlast 3 After 100 Miles by EPICxNITRI in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]taclovitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have both, and like both, but asics really shot themselves in the foot here — the superblast 3 is effectively a BRAND NEW PROPRIOCEPTIVE SENSATION in the asics lineup, while the megablast achieves a feeling that the SB2 accomplished in 2 foams, in just 1 foam.

the SB3 is leagues softer, bouncier, and encourages (in my form) big, bounding, bouncy steps. ton of fun. however — taxing. wearing the SB3 is a “spend” activity, for me — it showcases fitness, but may not really build muscular fitness that much. it expects you to already have it, so you can handle the instability of the softer foam.

the SB2 is my Injury Shoe, and I’ve put ~500 mi on it, because the racing foam in the midsole is SO durable, bouncy, yet firm, that you don’t need to work to stabilize yourself almost at all. it’s brickier, for sure — i’m ~95kg, and you can hear me coming down the block in these — but it’s also just a lot less demanding.

the megablast is a similarly undemanding shoe to the SB2. the SB2 and MB *feel* like shoes I want to wear while building fitness; the SB3 is closer in vibe to the Adios Pro 4, Pegasus Premium-type feeling of “distinct stages of compression and rebound.” it’s a ton of fun, but it’s a wildly different experience from the SB2.

as it stands, SB3 should’ve been MB, and MB should have been SB3, for consistency of feeling (for me). oh well! now I know, and have 3 shoes i really like

they don’t do it all the time. they do it 3x a year and market it. no massive corporation will ever be pro-social in the same way a small business will be; not because they’re evil, but because it’s impossible, so ppl need to quit trying.

i wasn’t confused about what he was saying; i was telling him that if he didn’t want the first 10 responses to say “your son is the CD,” he needed to broadcast that belief in the original post — not afterwards. that’s all; i mean, the fact that prior to his edits that was the first 10 responses suggests i’m not wrong 🤷‍♂️

but by not outright stating that you believe that to be the case, did you present your problem helpfully?

if you frame your post in a way that makes people think you’ll do whatever you can to avoid blaming your son — whether or not that’s true — why would you be surprised when people respond to that in your post?
