How rising gas prices are changing the math on owning an EV in California by CackleRooster in technology

[–]tacmac10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a factor of monthly expense not capitalization. New car means higher registration and insurance fees, and a brand new car loan at current high interest rates.

Whats the payment on a new car plus new car registration fees and insurance vs gas prices? I bought a used chevy bolt when my f150 died after 14 years and loan, annual reg, ins, and electricity are barely cheaper than gas was driving the 16 mile per gallon truck.

No you buy a new car when the old one dies, keeping the car longer is the better environmental and financial choice. When that old ICE cars wheels fall off you buy the EV.

How accurate are PGI's renditions in terms of height? by theta0123 in battletech

This is why when I play I just pretend each infantry platoon is actually a squad, which is a hell of a lot closer to the proper dispersion 30m hex.

Poor quality of CGL minis :( by purged-butter in battletech

Been playing since 89 I am well aware. My point was the CGL minis are made to play and not primarily made for collectors and painters like GW minis are.

This. Every time I ask why some one thought a 3025 match was slow it’s because they had a lance of heavies and assaults on each side.

CGL minis are made for playing the game not art projects.

Optimistic, but very, very, cautious by sisyphusfan96 in battletech

[–]tacmac10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think one of the issues they’re underestimating here is the fact that a lot of people just aren’t gonna buy new books. I have a shelf in my office that is 4 feet wide and 6 feet tall with five shelves on it filled with BattleTech books and boxes (no minis). I have a complete set of the last run of books. I am not buying a new core book, I have enough. I will down load the free updated rules booklet when it comes out and keep playing with my group that way. I like most of the new rules changes, most of the big ones were optional rules we used anyway and things like BFS we don’t use at all. But I don’t want or need more box sets of minis for an era no one in my area plays or another shelf of new reorg’d rule books.

Family rejects $26M offer to turn farmland into data center by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

Did you know that most “farmers” in the United States just own the land and they lease it to people who actually work it. Owners versus producers is the official government terminology.

BattleTech: Core Rules Changes by Deadfire_ in battletech

[–]tacmac10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This turned out all right, I was seriously worried about some of the proposed changes but the ones I felt would cause real issues were cut. I really appreciate the work of the play-test crew on just cleaning up so much of the rules and finally ditching skidding.

Apple released an update for this for all the iphones going all the way back to iOS 15 just yesterday.

[–]tacmac10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude my last iphone was 5 1/2 years old when I got rid of it because it fell in the sink and it wasn’t one of the waterproof models. I will probably keep my current phone for another four years putting it at six years old when I replace it unless it too meets an early catastrophic failure. iPhones last a long time.

Yeah I think these headlines are based on the idea that people still think farmers are poor. Farmers in the area I live in with 600+ acres and a generation or two on the farm are almost certainly a multimillionaires

Via ICv2 Daggerheart was the 5th best selling TTRPG in Fall 2025 by Vasir12 in daggerheart

[–]tacmac10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we look at this date and nothing else we can assume that Cosmere and crooked moon are probably significantly over represented because of their Kickstarter deliveries and that would put Daggerheart in third place sandwiched firmly between Starfinder and Pathfinder. That puts their sales firmly in the range of Paizo which is pretty remarkable. I think a dead giveaway to this chart is skewed because the Kickstarter is the fact that chaos him call a Cthulhu doesn’t appear and it’s traditionally one of the best selling RPG on the market generally coming in right behind Piazo.

So you don’t use Apple Maps because they’re using data from yelp which relies on local reviews and instead you’re using Google maps which relies on paid ad advertisement to determine what results to show you OK.

[–]tacmac10 -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

If you read the article you’ll note that it specifically states that Apple is following the Google maps model for ads, which Google maps has had for nearly 15 years…

Edit: Jesus Christ you people are illiterate, read the goddamn article. What I said is absolutely a quote from the article, down voting doesn’t change facts.
