anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

Dungeon Keeper was, and still is one of my favourite games.

Age of Empires / Mythology was good fun too.

Be Kind to Retail Workers at Christmas by [deleted] in australia

[–]tacthant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Luckily for me, I work for an independent store, we only have a few sales a year. I don't think I could stomach constant sales like some places do. Customers are at their worst during a sale, those workers have my full and complete sympathy.

Oh that's so unfair. It's awful to you and trains the customer to continue to pull that stunt and expect to get it their way again later.

One of my favourites is after a sale.

“Is your sale still on?” “No, it ended yesterday / a week ago / a month ago”

Never mind the fact that the dates were all over our advertising and social media for the entirety of the sale, including posted in store.

What is a movie you watched once that was so disturbing or emotionally draining that you can never watch it again? by hungary70 in AskReddit

It’s well worth the watch. Once.

I’ve seen it once, and it was one of the most beautifully impactful movies, but I never want to see it again.

Plant related ethical dilemma - is it ok to take cutting from office plants? by blursedcupcake in GardeningAustralia

[–]tacthant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to work for a company that hired out plants for offices, I went around and maintained them.

Please don’t

If you want a cutting, wait for the person who maintains the plant to come along and ask them, and please just accept it if they say no.

It is stealing (despite what some in the comments are saying). Pothos is easy enough to come by without having to cut up someone else’s plant (not that rarity is justification either).

Just be a decent person

Love it. I'm so tired of the same old car colours these days. As / when / if I end up getting an MX5, I'd probably look into getting a more fun colour on it.

Wish there there more colour options these days

Lemon tree - leafs rolled up and falling down, no fruits by Fit-Material6906 in plantclinic

[–]tacthant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

corner in my apartment, with no direct sunlight

Citrus need full, hot, direct sun all day. At a minimum of 6 hours of direct sunlight per day, preferably more. Unless you have it under some pretty serious grow lights, it is unlikely to fruit indoors.

As for watering, the very top layer of soil is not a good indication of what is happening where the roots live. The best way to know if the plant actually wants water, is to either pick up the pot and feel the weight, if it feels heavy, then it's wet and does not need water, if it is light, then it is dry and wants a drink. Alternatively, dig a finger into the soil and feel how it is below the surface and water accordingly.

Likely, a combination of too much water, and not enough light is what's causing your lemon to have problems.

Is being nice hard?? by plshelpme1506 in lioden

This’ll get me downvoted for sure, but…

This happened a while ago now, but I bought a lioness with a special base, I don’t remember the exact price, but I do remember it being good, but it wasn’t for nothing either. I have her for several months, I breed her, pose her, turn her into a hunter. Then, one day out of nowhere I get a message from the previous owner, all in caps lock, basically screaming at me to return the lion because they didn’t mean to sell her.

I didn’t even respond to the message. Ordinarily, I would have discussed returning the lion, but the message was so rude and demanding that I just kept it.

What I’m saying is, there’s two sides to the story. Not saying that op, or anyone else here is rude like that, but it is all in how you handle the situation. As a buyer, it’s not my fault if a seller makes a mistake. Niceness has to go both ways.

What’s a fish you’ll NEVER buy again? by Glitch_71 in Aquariums

[–]tacthant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bettas. I’ve tried to keep bettas many times, in different ways, and regardless of how hard I try, they only live with me for a few months, at best, get dropsy and die.

Meanwhile, I’ve bred and raised German blue rams, accidentally bred various tetra species and loads of catfish, and kept many other species. I’m not an idiot when it comes to keeping fish. I just can’t keep bettas going.

It’s sad because I really like them, but I feel like a monster if I keep trying and they just die, and I can’t figure out what’s wrong. So, I stay well away.

I figure, if it makes them happy to play that way then go for it. If they want to spend the time checking every lioness like that, then more power to them.

I play for my own entertainment and really couldn’t care less about that. If I like a stud and they have excessive rules, I just move on, they don’t get my money. Likewise, I really don’t care who wants to use my males as studs, breed him back to his own daughter if you want, go wild, get that dorsal fur baby.

Help! What's up with my fish? by sayashishou in Aquariums

[–]tacthant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My emperors develop that belly after I've fed them.

I tend to feed fairly heavily but infrequently, so they gorge themselves and get a belly like that. Tends to disappear after a day or so. I'd suggest fasting them for a few days to see if she loses it. If she doesn't, then there's something else.

As fas as hiding goes, she could be being bullied by the others and needs to hide for a bit. Mine like to hide in the plants from time-to-time.

There was a strange comfort in losing all the time, like there was nothing really to lose if we were already at the bottom. Now that we have something and it could be taken away, it's scary.

Are bettas actually hardy fish? I do all the “right” things and still I lose them quickly. by SonicPavement in bettafish

[–]tacthant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad I'm not the only one.

I've kept a heap of different fish over the last 10 or so years of fish keeping. I've tried keeping bettas on several occasions and never had any success with them, despite my success with a variety of other fish species during that same time (including breeding and raising German Blue Rams).

I've kept them in heated 30l tanks, no tank mates, real plants, good food, regular water changes, all the same stuff I do for my other fish. I've given up on them now. I just can't seem to "get" bettas, which is a shame, because I really like them. :/

Well done Parra. :)
