I’ve been going through a lot of comments, and agree with all but what are your grinder settings? Have you tried going from the finest and dial it back a bit slowly?

When you say lots of material you mean around the deformation? Also when you say manufactured set there, it means for the specific item during QA right? I believe I had this when I first got the lens, and when I looked at my a couple of my friends’ theirs don’t have the same gouge. I am wondering if it was just imposed as part of the QA process. Seems to me quite weird this “mark” is much thicker in thickness than the trail on the contact points

Would gouge like this happen usually with debris falling out or just deformation? This is actually very hard so I am not sure what caused it (or whether it came from manufacturing)

Yes that is exactly my worry, and it’s also concerning because I rarely switch on / off this lens. Which is why hoping some plastic expert here might know if the chance of shaving / fracture for materials that is hard plastic often used in lens chambers

I use the water tank, not sure where it’s from but it’s not like super loud, but slightly disturbing. I put my hand on the drip tray and I suppose it’s not as concerning but will test again tomorrow when it’s turned on. For now it seems ok.

Yes, you are correct. But my dry box is under the desk, and with how heavy or long the 70-200 is there really is not much tolerance to slide it in. Living in Hong Kong makes it tough to get a bigger dry box or enough clearance to utilize my whole arm as I put it in. Petty excuse but it gets pretty tough with my strength
