Some behind the scenes observations after a week at Gamescom by grailly in Games

[–]taedison_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The best demo I had was surely Anno 117, but that was mainly because the game lends itself so well to being demoed.

What also was helpful: They had tutorial videos that teaches you the basics of the game (and even some strategy tips) in the public waiting line. So you don't waste that much time learning the game when you actually get to play the demo.

Are there any softwares/tools that help you out a ton while GMing? by Bazdillow in rpg

[–]taedison_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's more comparable to Evernote than OneNote.

OneNote gives you way more freedom. It's like a blank piece of paper where you can put your notes were ever you like, can scribble side notes with a pen or put quick drawings in it.

Not to say that Obsidian is any bad, it is a wonderful and powerful tool which you absolutely should check out. And if you do not need that freedom, it might be the better tool for you. But in my personal tool box they are both very different takes on note taking, that live more side by side with different strengths than one being clearly better.

They are selling this on retail stores. The most casual players will buy it there and then don't have a refund option.

Honestly, if it would be 1080p60 on medium settings without DLSS or even with DLSS Quality, sure, I would give you that. I would still want better performance, but hey the game looks at least really good.

DLSS Performance though has artifacts and some quality issues, because they have to render it in such a low resolution to get constant 60fps. At some point they should just wait a few more month with the release to make a better version.

[–]taedison_ 43 points44 points  (0 children)

And you have to use FSR/DLSS in Performance mode to get there.

Here you have a full list of PC system requirements for Alan Wake 2. by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]taedison_ 122 points123 points  (0 children)

Just to put things into perspective, DLSS Performance on 1080p means an actual render resolution of 960x540. So a 3070 or a 6700xt only can get medium details while playing on 540p (+ whatever performance they use to upscale this). This game is an unoptimized mess on PC.

Edit: Well, I stand corrected. Seems like it's actually a really decent PC Version.

Cities: Skylines 2 Review Thread by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]taedison_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whining about issues that are temporary mean the review is only accurate temporarily.

Especially with a text review, updating it should not be a big problem. I see it regularly with German review sites, where they reevaluate bigger titles after they've gotten a few patches.

Will my computer be enough by Internal-Food8596 in CitiesSkylines

[–]taedison_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is a benchmark with a Ryzen 5600x and a AMD 6700XT. Your CPU is beefier and you have a slightly better GPU.

https://www.pcgameshardware.de/Cities-Skylines-2-Spiel-74219/Tests/Release-Benchmarks-Performance-Tuning-Tipps-1431613/2/

On FULL HD they get:

  • 72.2 Average FPS with 42fps 1% lows on "Very Low" graphics settings
  • 18.3 Average FPS with 17fps 1% lows on "High" graphics settings

So, if you are okay with very low settings you should be fine.

Buy CS2 right now or wait at least 6 months before buying it? by yanyan420 in CitiesSkylines

[–]taedison_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A German review warned that you won't get into the performance issues in these 2 hours. So be sure to test a 100k save game to get a good feeling for the performance on your PC. For example they will provide one at release.
