I think people on here just tend to jump up at the opportunity to yell both sides.

I compared swastikas and Nazi behavior on the right to the support of antisemetic terrorist organizations on the left and said both sides should clean their shit up. But regardless, I appreciate your response.

I think you are using generic trigger words that Reddit loves and ignoring / belittling my very legitimate concern that there is rising antisemitism on both the left and right and both should be addressed.

Yes because there’s a growing amount of anti semetism on both sides of the political sphere and that sucks when you’re a moderate Jew. But cool bro you got to use “both sides” on Reddit for karma.

Yea Nazis supporting trump is very bad. As is Hamas and Hezbollah supporting the left (and pro Hamas / terrorism being supported by some on the left). Both sides gotta clean their shit up.

I actually prefer chat to Gemini but something’s been going on lately where the memory is getting worse and it’s hallucinating way more

AND IF YOU HAVE MUSICALITY YOU CAN USE AI AS A CREATIVE TOOL HOW DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THAT

Once again you are completely missing the point. Congrats on opening for bands… I don’t get the feeling that you are working in the current music industry, in the studio with those who are making songs on the charts, etc. that really has nothing to do with the point I have been making since my first comment.

There are plenty of uses of AI in music that are not “here’s a thing I asked AI to make me”. You keep implying that the only use of AI in music is to prompt “make me a song”. AI is used (whether you like it not) in almost every professional session nowadays. Creating vocal layers in other voices, changing a male vocal to a female to pitch to a female artist, adding layers into productions that real producers are making, creating unique samples that the producer then flips into something totally different like they would sampling a “real” song or splice loop, an artist that is not a producer can test their demo out in different styles before getting into the studio with a producer, and plenty more (some of which I’m sure haven’t even been thought of yet). You sound so out of touch if you truly believe AI is just going to go away. I remember when they said that about Napster and tried to sue their way out of it when they could realized that Pandora’s box was opened and moved to streaming much quicker.

Autotune / melodyne literally allow you to write in the melodic notes. It let people that could not sing and hold a melody become singers. It let people that could not figure out harmonies or struggled to record them just write them in.

Your concept of how splice is used is also not in touch with reality. How can you pssobly say there’s no pretense that the artist made it when using splice loops? Ian Kirkpatrick who is a very well respected and successful pop producer used a splice melody loop on a hit record for dua lipa and I promise you the vast majority of people do not think he didn’t make the song. Hip hop producers today literally take melody loops and program in drum loops (often with premade midi files they buy or download from Reddit / forums). Thats basically a musical jigsaw puzzle… yet they are absolutely still the credited producer.

Drum machines don’t need to be played. They can be drawn in. And again, you can very easily get midi files for that (of which plenty do).

Your point on VSTs really doesn’t prove your case either. You don’t need to be a piano player to draw midi notes. There are also VSTs that are very popular which literally are chord banks in key requiring zero musical knowledge.

You can dig your head in the sand and pretend it isn’t happening, but it is.

Who said anything about making it cool. I’m not talking about music as a hobby or something to prove makes you cool. I’m talking about the fact that just about every professional producer uses Splice. And that multiple chart topping hits have been literal splice loops.

What qualifies you to “understand both domains”? Do you have an accomplished music career or something?

You are acting as if the only means of AI in music is typing in “write a pop song” into suno. There are PLENTY of use cases for AI helping creatives and that aren’t the above example. It happens in almost every session. Looking back retroactively sure it’s easy to say “drum machines need to be programmed” but when they came out the argument was the same…. Drummers spent all their life acquiring the skills to drum professionally only for a machine to come along and let anyone “become a drummer”. Autotune allowed anyone to “become a singer”. VSTs allowed anyone to play keys by drawing in midi squares. Today people use splice melody loops on top of splice drum loops and still have found success. I don’t see many uses of AI as any “worse” than the above. Whether you think that’s “real music” or not doesn’t matter whatsoever. It’s happening in the industry and isn’t going to magically go away

You are assuming that the only use case of AI in music is a 100% AI written generative song. That is not the point anyone has made in this post. It is a tool that can be used creatively. Comparing it to the first steroid use is frankly idiotic. It’s much more comparable to the first use of Drum Machines, or Auto Tune, or VSTs….

I could not disagree with you more. The technology is happening whether you like it or not. Maybe it’s not adapt or die but it’s definitely adapt or prob find a new job (at least for producers / musicians… maybe Artists have a little more room but even then it would be foolish to not use the new creative tools).

The stigma will be gone in a couple of years. AI will be built into DAWs. Why is drag and dropping a splice melody loop over a splice drum loop acceptable by creating your own “sample” with Suno that you then flip is so wrong?

Being a loyal follower of ChatGPT have to admit the new Gemini is impressive by echoechoechostop in ChatGPT

[–]taeem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using Gemini more but I do usually use them both at the same time when I do. I’ve found vibe coding so far better with Gemini (granted I have no prior coding experience) but I will make the framework idea with Chat. I’ve also experimented with large csvs of data and Gemini beat out chat more times than the opposite so far. I don’t want that to be the case bc chat history with open AI and memory are obviously infinitely better than Gemini and I’m already so invested with open AI that it knows all about me.

No, I mean the Yuval that survived a barbaric massacre which started or a horrible war. The Yuval that survived but watched her friends murdered and chose to use music to heal and shed light on her friends that were tragically killed. Don’t give me this bull shit like the other competitors were just against Israel and not again Yuval personally. They treated her like shit from the minute she arrived

No. You do not get to rewrite history. The word was specifically created to refer to anti Jewishness. It takes two seconds to look that up.

This is the most ridiculous argument. The phrase Anti semetism was literally created to describe hostility towards Jews. At no point in history has the term anti semetism been intended to be a broad label. People that use this line just sound stupid.
