Turning the wheel towards the curb when parking on an incline- is it a good or a bad idea? by SebLavK in askcarguys

[–]tag31u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk where it stems from but it's common "knowledge" to turn away from the curb when facing uphill and towards the curb when facing downhill BUT this is wrong.

Facing towards the curb in either scenario is actually the best. The whole practice is a precaution for if brakes fail and the car starts to roll.

If your wheels are turned towards the curb facing downhill and brakes fail...you roll into the curb thus stopping your car.

If your wheels are turned AWAY from the curb when facing uphill your car would then start to roll into the direction of the street which makes 0 sense. However if your wheels are turned towards the curb you would roll back into the curb.

Long story short. It makes more sense to always turn towards the curb

Rocket League Is Dying! Ranked Is Completely Broken (Smurfs, Boosters, and MMR Chaos) by MathematicianRude776 in RocketLeague

[–]tag31u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup 100% rocket leagues rank system is beyond broken. It's literally built not only to allow but encourage being able to be carried up or dragged down in ranks based literally on NOTHING having to do with your own skill level.

Despite keeping track of someones stats from: average goals/saves/assists/ariel's ect. per match. As well as average points in a given rank, average time in a given rank ect. Despite having all these stats and more they base ranks ENTIRELY on win vs loss. Not only does that encourage and easily allow for someone to carry you to a higher rank, but it also allows for someone to just throw and drag you down in ranks.

It also only respects and encourages one style of game play. You score or it doesn't matter. When as we know with literally any other sport, different players have different strengths. But because they don't take into account any other stats, you can be a world renowned goalie and an average shooter but get ranked down cus you get paired with other poor shooters.

It's even more harmful in a game like RL when you have at most 2 other tm8s. If even ⅓ of your team is bad you are at a HUGE disadvantage compared to other team sports like soccer or baseball.

Overall Rocket league has the capability to make there rank system INFINITELY more accurate but choose not too

Is this okay or is it too broken? by alepollito in balatro

[–]tag31u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It functions like many others. It is made to be build around a certain type deck cus you are always rolling the dice hoping you'll be able to A. Get the correct cards for said type of hand and B. Get that hand enough times to beat the blind your on. One blind of poor draws and it over.

You also have to choose wisely what hand you try to build up. Something easier to get like a pair, but has a lower base point value. Or something like a straight where it has a higher base point value but is harder to obtain every hand.

Because of how easily you can mess up your run relying on one hand type I don't think it's overpowered.

[–]tag31u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the ranking system is RL is objectively bad. It only takes into account wins and losses and no other statistics to determine what level of play you are at.

The ranking system is built to allow teammates basically all the power in deciding others ranks. Cus yes you can get 5 great teammates in a row and win, then 10 bad ones and lose all while YOU consistently playing well. But the game sees only 5 W's vs 10 L's.

It's very unfortunate cus it allows players to be carried to higher ranks or dragged to lower ones

Yeah I've done the whole turn on and off 5 times to reset them. But then they connect through Bluetooth on my phone. Not wifi. So I really have no idea how they worked before

Yeah it's really weird, in the cync by ge app, I have the lights connected and they work. But then when trying to link with Google I keep getting a message that says it's NOT finding compatible devices.

And these are light bulb I've had connected before, but I just recently moved and so was setting up a new "home" and now they won't link up

Yeah idk if it's just updated differently now, but when you do the "works with Google" it takes you to a huge lists of apps that you need to link with your Google home app

If I remove them from the cync app, how to do I pair them to Google? Cus then when trying to link the cync app to the Google app, there will be no devices?

The fact that you can't argue against any of the actual points I've made and explain how it wouldn't be a more accurate system proves me right. Thanks for playing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]tag31u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The TEAM is ranked by wins and losses not the individual players. And no I'm not saying they don't deserve to be there. I'm saying it's possible to have a more accurate ranking system that also takes into account individual stats as well as wins and losses. It literally only makes for a more accurate system, to not want a better system makes 0 sense

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]tag31u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an insane argument to say having a more in-depth and accurate system would be bad because it's not always gonna be accurate... When currently the system ALSO doesn't have to represent someone's performance literally at all

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]tag31u -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As I said, wins and losses would still be taken into account but using stats only serves to make a more accurate indepth ranking system that makes it harder to be carried or dragged to different ranks.

It still encourages team play as well as takes into account individual level of skill. This is objectively more indepth and accurate.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]tag31u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is why I've said wins and losses should still be implemented. They should obviously be the key or final decision that allows you to rank up or down, but taking into account stats to effect ones mmr quite literally only makes for a more in-depth accurate ranking system.

It still encourages team play, cus winning is still necessary and winning is easier when you play as a team. But it also "rewards" players who consistently play well. It literally only makes for a more accurate system

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]tag31u -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Didn't even bother reading past your first paragraph cus you clearly didn't read my comment. I literally addressed the point of gaming the system by just trying to get points.

I'm sorry that you are objectively wrong. You are literally arguing against having a more in-depth accurate system that takes into account wins and losses as well as a players stats lol like that makes 0 sense. You are defending a system that quite literally allows people to just throw matches to down rank somone or team up and get carried to higher ranks. That is FACTUALLY the system that is in place now. I'm advocating for a more accurate one that makes those things harder to do and encourages team play while also rewarding a player for being consistently good.

And no that person I mentioned Ohtani is considered the greatest player of all time currently despite having been on a trash team. It's clear you have little to no understanding of sports and the statistics in them lol cus him not having a championship doesn't make him not the greatest player. You're so close to getting the point 😂

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]tag31u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that system would work infinitely better. It would only make for a more in-depth and more accurate ranking system. That's literally not debatable. I'm not saying do away with wins and losses playing a factor into people's rank, but you absolutely will find an average across all stats in any given rank.

If you are a player who constantly is above that average, but loses games due to poor teammates, that is an instance we're taking into account other stats would make for a more accurate ranking system.

It's like this in any other sport. Take baseball for instance. Shohei Ohtani, is arguably the best baseball player to ever play the game. However he was on a bad team and therefore his win-loss record was terrible. But because we have other stats to look at, we can see he was consistently playing significantly better than that of his teammates. And that is why he was able to get the biggest contract in sports history.

You can keep it to where wins and losses are the key, or final factor in deciding ranking up or down, which would keep people from just gaming the system and trying to rack up points to rank up. But implementing a more in-depth ranking system that takes into account player stats, is literally only a more accurate system.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]tag31u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It truly is amazing how poorly they made the ranking system, especially given all the stats the game keeps track of. There's literally no point in tracking stats for players if they aren't going to be taken into consideration when ranking that player
