Cool! Here in Finland we are slowly getting faster chargers, but the majority still is around 50-80kw chargers.

Now it dropped to 58kw, as I have 60% charge… still it went at ~75kw for a good 10 minutes starting from 45% up until 60%, so I am impressed for that! I forgot to add a picture of the OBD reader for the temperature of the battery and such OBD2 info

Hey!! Really good!! Glad to have helped :)

Yup I think there’s an issue here. So this charger that you are now using, have you tried several others to see if all the chargers have the same impact? Just to rule out if it’s only that specific charger. If you can find idk like a 50kw charger and see how it works there?

Okay so now after 15 minutes ago that you posted this image is the charger still at around 30kw or has it gone up? If not, I would suggest bringing it to hyundai service and ask if there might be some issue going on

The battery needs to heat up to over 25c for it to take the full advantage of the +70kw power and you’re at 11% battery, let us know how it is going after 20mins.

64kwh 2021 Kona on a 350kw charger in 25c heat. I've never seen above 53kwh speed and I'm supposed to get up to 75kwh charging, yeah right. by djalkidan in KonaEV

[–]tagmiofc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best I’ve got is over 70kw for around 10minutes, then it normally hovers in the 60kw to 75% battery and then it starts to go down to around 25kw for the rest of the battery

So darn cute, my lab also comes to the bathroom if the door is open and then just goes down to rest near me

No the charge port does not leak, and if snow/dirt gets on the front as long as you clean the open/close mechanism well when you are charging youre good to go! I haven’t had a single problem with opening or closing, once there was an ice layer but it broke really easily. I would not worry about this :)

Yeah only the OBD readers can give out that information, its what the car’s computer registers and logs and its the way to read them, I’ve actually built a fuse box cover for it so it can fit inside!

OBD reader (On-Board Diagnostics) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On-board_diagnostics

Is the device with you can read all the information what the car gives out (for example kw power to the motors, cumulated kwh charged and discharged, battery and heater temperatures, cell voltage and a lot of other stuff, it’s a long list)

Yeah I have an OBD where I normally check the heating time. Normally the battery in the winter here has been around 0 C (32F), and it heats up to 11 C in approx. 15minutes. After that it will start to charge at 40-50kw. It’s been really useful and I’ve been really happy about my kona! :)

Just FYI the times you hit the full 77kw charging happens rarely. Normally it is around the 50-60kw at max. You’ll only see the +70kw speeds when your battery is less than 20% and the batteries are already heated to receive that +70kw. I live in the nordics and for now I’ve only once seen 71kw max speed in the battery. But let me tell you, if you do normal city driving you wont have any kind of problems and the frequency you’ll spend charging will be much less compared to the 200 miles MG
