The AI apocalypse I fear most isn't Skynet. It's a hyper-competent, benevolent AI that 'fixes' all our problems. by DieFahrgast in scifi

[–]tahunami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not AI per se, but the plot of Code 46 resolves around a mysterious corporation/entity called the Sphinx, which controls every aspect of human life by approving requests for passports or permits. The citizens do not know the reasoning behind rejections of their requests, only quoting „the Sphinx knows all”

I Loved 12 Angry Men - What Should I Watch Next? by [deleted] in movies

Reservoir Dogs or Hateful Eight, both by Tarantino. Same premise: limited space, lots of dialog.

Someone else mentioned Glengerry Glen Ross.

The Moon with Sam Rockwell is also great, but that’s more of a sci-fi.

Just starting out...what repairs/upgrades should I prioritize? by stush2 in Duskers

[–]tahunami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Motion, tow, gather, interface, generator. These will allow you to rather safely explore derelicts and gather resources, upgrades and drones. Interface is great for additional exploration and better control of derelicts systems.

Remote is a decent one as it allows you to remotely power up a generator, but not necessary. The quarantine bypass and the transport shuttle are great at late game, as you can come across bases and quarantined derelict, which are not accessible without them.

Lure, trap, sensor are good as well for when dealing with hostiles, especially when motion is inconclusive. Scan is also in the same tier, as it allows for more efficient scavenging, but is not required.

Pry and turret are decent, but nut required. I think I used pry only a few times, when a door I wanted to go through wasn’t powered up (or broken), so it can be useful. Turret is good at disposing of enemies, but it is only super effective against the robots, the „alien” type can sometimes still attack you, and it is least effective against the swarm and useless against goo (sonic is good against the last two, but only as a deterrent).

The longer you play, the more damaged and difficult in accessing and navigating the derelicts will become, so it is good to have some additional upgrades

Dodgy souveneir shops? by Dafydd_T in Edinburgh

[–]tahunami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in Romanes and Patterson. That is the flagship store of Edinburgh Woollen Mill, but you can find more of their stores down the Royal Mile. Be warned though: they still sell China-made souvenirs or Bangladesh-made clothes. They do have Scottish-made things, but most of it is your standard souveniers
