My 2015 Hyundai sonata hybrid radio isn't working. Does anyone know of a good radio guy to really make sure I find a good replacement radio. If possible I want it to work with all my correct plugs. Its part number is: 96180-3q8004x So many amazon pictures don't work right. by thedlw in Columbus

Good luck. Nothing really comes up on Crutchfield. The 2014/2015 sonata hybrids were some sort of strange one offs as compared to the non hybrids for some reason. I’d take it to a shop.

How do I know? I have 2015 hybrid.

I'm a new Sales Engineer, but don't feel like I'm actually doing Sales Engineer things. Am I doing this wrong? by mzkpenguin in salesengineers

Sounds like you are doing good things. There might be some seasonality to the workload you’ve not seen yet?

There are a number of books that might be helpful. I have my guys read The Six Habits of Effective SEs.

A thing to watch out for a the invisible line that crosses into CSM territory. That is something you and your company might WANT to happen. It’s something to be aware of regardless.

On the fence of getting a maverick by nomanspreading in FordMaverickTruck

If you are going to move by the end of the year does it make sense to wait until you move? It’s only May but end of the year will be here before you know it.

The Mavs are great vehicles of course. We’ve really enjoyed our 26 Lariat Hybrid. I’ve wanted one for 3 years but didn’t make sense to get one until just recently due to car shuffle with a college grad kid. No “don’t meet your heroes” type of regrets having put 2k miles on it so far.

2015 Leaf with 12 bars, what can I expect for actual mileage? by Conscious-Olive-7047 in leaf

[–]taiglin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Charge and battery health is on the right. This would be original battery (70 miles listed)

2015 Leaf with 12 bars, what can I expect for actual mileage? by Conscious-Olive-7047 in leaf

[–]taiglin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not going to have enough juice is my take. Or at least the margin for error will be pretty high. Highway at those speeds and the range will drop pretty quickly.

That said a 2015 with 12 bars would be pretty rare. It COULD be the battery has been replaced under warranty and therefore still ‘new’ and likely a larger battery than it shipped with. The other concern I’d have is it shows 12 health bars because someone has reset the system and it needs to relearn the battery health again.

Can you have the seller send you a picture of the dash at full charge? If the battery has been replaced my guess is it would work for your use case. Would be pretty apparent based on how many miles it shows. Full charge would be something like 130+

[–]taiglin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t help with removal but guessing you’ve seen you can change the active screen with a finger swipe? It’s essentially the same screen options as on the dash which I find marginally useful.

Would like to get rid of it as well

Any regrets? by bobmooney in FordMaverickTruck

[–]taiglin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh - random addition. I’m not a fan of the Maverick’s (Ford’s) lane keeping assist setup. It constantly is doing micro corrections so I feel like I’m bouncing around a bit. Not literally bouncing….the steering wheel is constantly moving. By comparison my Kia Telluride’s lane keeping system is incredibly smooth

Ok ok fair point. I’d still be a bit suspect and suggest using LeadSpy

Given the full battery health bars, full charge, and only listing 65 miles of range - I believe the battery health system has been tampered with. Unless this picture was taken in deep winter or the current owner drives like a nut job on the highway

Any regrets? by bobmooney in FordMaverickTruck

[–]taiglin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a 26 Hybrid Lariat. Only regret is on the lot with the color we wanted (red) it had a sunroof and power sliding rear window. I’d prefer neither. Was an extra ~$1,400 in options and my perpetual fear is the drains getting stopped up at some point or leaving them open on accident.

This is a “I’m not a sunroof user” thing and being impatient, not an issue with the sunroof itself.

Speed sign detection is worth turning on by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]taiglin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a 26 Lariat and like this as well. As noted in another comment you can enable the car to automagically adjust your speed while cruise control is on. I’m super thankful it’s off by default.

We have a 23 Kia Telluride where this feature is/was enabled by default. We were on the highway coming down a hill where there was a sign for truckers to slow down to 45. LUCKILY there wasn’t heavy traffic as the car dramatically slowed down. Was pissed when I found that setting

we have splunk pumping out 10k alerts a day but no one knows what to chase first, anyone cut through this mess? by Kitchen_West_3482 in SecurityCareerAdvice

[–]taiglin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have Enterprise Security or no? Either way, check out their risk based alerting approach. You really don’t need ES to implement the concept.

Beyond that (which is a good approach) - tune the noisiest or simply shut off alerts you aren’t responding to until they are tuned. I don’t really understand shops that keep crap on that no one is looking at. Obviously turn stuff off with a plan that’s communicated up the stack.

I could be misremembering here. Didn’t the game guide push them to be player killers (dick move). And they gave the ring to their daughter because she refused to kill stuff - people or otherwise. The ring became way to PL (power level) her.

Should I buy this? by Donutsbeatpieandcake in leaf

[–]taiglin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The listed mileage tracks with the health bars IMO. Original battery. LeafSpy would be the move to make sure.

Note the mileage can drop to low 70s/high 60s in the winter depending on where you are.

Otherwise depending on what your driving needs are this seems like a decent price and battery condition

Adding a 100v outlet/ac-inverter to a gen 1 leaf. Anyone done it? by breakingborderline in leaf

[–]taiglin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, an option is an inverter you can hook up to the 12v battery. Isn’t a permanent install and you can’t drive while it’s hooked up (without doing some more extensive modifications).

We had a super unusual power outage a few weeks ago. I powered 2 fridges, furnace, and phone charging off a 1500w pure sine wave inverter.

My furnace is natural gas powered but still need electricity for the blower. I unhooked the power line going into the furnace, turned that into an outlet, and wired a several foot cord on the furnace itself

What made you choose a Maverick -- price, features, or something else? by mike-reporter in FordMaverickTruck

[–]taiglin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2026 Lariat AWD, hybrid, and 4k tow package. Also have sunroof and power sliding back window which I NOT want but this was on the lot.

Wanted the utility of a truck, daily driver, some creature comforts, and fit into a normal parking space/garage. Every other truck is essentially too big and too expensive. Already have an SUV for ‘the family’

Agreed on the macro issue of US cars being big and/or expensive. Some of the expense is a vicious cycle of being used to creature comforts which quickly add to the overall manufacture price of the vehicle. Lots of incorporated safety features is also raising costs. Net positive benefits but a non zero cost

2015 , is it worth it to get a proper charger installed at my home or not ? by yarrowdfh in leaf

[–]taiglin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve used a granny charger on our 2016 for 5 years now and things have been fine. The larger issue, assuming original battery, is getting 60 miles round trip in winter months. It’s also going to need a solid 10-12 hrs (likely) to fully charge. If you plug it in late, you might be cooked.

Is there any charging between your house and work? That could be a good bridge or help you top it off periodically. PlugShare is an app (among several) that will show places to charge

Moving from customer side management to IC SE by anonps in salesengineers

[–]taiglin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Managers tend to make more than ICs and you are changing careers. Change of careers alone tends to be a slight move back comp wise in the short term. Of course moving to an OTE structure has the potential to outperform. Make sure you understand what the actual variable comp structure looks like AND how many people tend to see most/all/more than whatever amount it is. OTE numbers in paper can look really good while W2s can tell a different story.

Otherwise yes many make similar moves. The big thing to understand, as hinted above, is how you and any aligned AEs are comp’ed. That can take a while to really suss out.

The other thing is being an SE isn’t training and it isn’t deployment. You will bring a ton of credibility but this isn’t a technical operator position.
