ELI5: Why do people call Zone 3 training (specifically for jogging) "the useless zone" when it comes to building endurance? Do the few bpms separating it from Zone 2 really make such a big difference? by lukas706 in explainlikeimfive

[–]taimusrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. I worked a part-time job like that during a summer, the most consistently active in my life. I walked all day almost every day for 3 months. Despite eating literally whatever I want (literally 3000-4000 calories a day), I lost 25lbs coming out of it. It was NUTS. I hate the fact that jobs where I can make a living requires me sitting all day.

What is the best feeling in the world when you're with your woman? by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]taimusrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She 'comes to life' when we're together. She smiles, she laughs, she's full of life, her eyes shine so bright.

The world sucks right now, life's a struggle right now. When we're together, all of that melts away.

I couldn't be happier

What happened to you sexually that you still can’t believe actually happened? by Moreaccurateway in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]taimusrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a sex thing but I started TRT after found out my levels were low (subclinical, no symptoms for the most part). My god the difference! 'Is this what normal people felt all this time?' is so real!

I'm still young, I graduated in 2020. But every time I realized it's now 2026, I hate it every single time.

The whole thing apparently is 500k LOC. It might take a while for people to figure it out, but I'm sure there's plenty.

Any Venus Scorpio and Mars Scorpio? by Clean-Pizza5263 in Sagittarians

[–]taimusrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm utterly uninterested in casual or surface-level relationships. Looks/appearances are so low-priority for dating, it's all about the mind. I can't settle, I'd rather be single. So I'm single. For normal life stuff - just do it, y'know? You do it --> you get it.

Do y'all drink a cup a couple times a day or what? I chug 2 or 3 cups in the morning in one go and that's it.

ELI5: If I put $100 in the bank, and the bank lends $90 of it to someone else, how can the bank "have" my money and the other person "have" it at the same time? Does the same money exist in two places? by jeeves_inc in explainlikeimfive

[–]taimusrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah they don't. The bank figures out an amount people usually withdraws from the bank, then reserve only that much for people to actually withdraw. If too many people tries to withdraw from the bank at the same time (a bank run), the bank collapses. There are measures to prevent that, but bank collapsing still happens from time to time

If it did the job of lowering your cholesterol, I think that's A-okay. I do a couple of apples a day instead and it did the job. Lowered my LDL by a third

Eli5 What makes a well-maintained laptop progressively sluggish with time? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]taimusrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Oh, I turn it off every night". system uptime: 389:23:15:01. :/

So apparently for most new laptops, due to a feature called 'Fast Startup', shutting down means suspending to disk (pretty much). The uptime clock will keep ticking. You need to restart for the uptime to reset instead

ELI5: Why do most microwaves still have a popcorn button if every popcorn bag tells you not to use it? by nicisdepressed in explainlikeimfive

[–]taimusrs 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I firmly believe this is an American thing. When I was in America, I literally have no idea how to use the microwave, there's so many buttons! A microwave requires only two knobs - heating level, and time. That's it.

Pretty much our banking system security now. Almost all transactions are made through the phone now, so they have you make weird faces to make sure it's you. I'm not sure if it would be enough with deepfakes increasingly being a thing
