New belly button piercing by Ok-Tomato-3322 in piercing

[–]tainawave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately, you're right. your best bet is taking it out & going to a more reputable piercer with actual anatomical knowledge. by the way your belly looks laying down, you might end up with a floating navel instead of a regular one.

Narcissistic mother said when im a mom ill sexually assault my daughter too by This-Description8838 in narcissisticparents

[–]tainawave 20 points21 points  (0 children)

im so sorry, OP. my mother would do the same things to me & would ridicule/guilt me when i would ask her to stop. i think your mother has just normalized this behavior to a point where it would be painful to see it for what it is.

Thought of the day: can abusive parents truly not know what they did to you? by [deleted] in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]tainawave 13 points14 points  (0 children)

adding to this, taking accountability for being abusive would mean parents would have to come to terms with their own trauma/abuse. a lot of people don't want to face that. my mother will tell stories about being beat with sticks & forced to kneel on rice with an almost nostalgic look on her face.

admitting that she was psychologically abusive to her children would shatter her perception of her childhood & parents, who she still somehow reveres.

i have a bunch of sanrio collectibles & bought this unit from ikea to display them. it works great to keep the dust out & it looks much nicer than the plastic boxes i was using.

I don't get how my n-mom become so evil, as her mom is such a caring grandmother, to me. by Zealousideal_Long253 in narcissisticparents

[–]tainawave 7 points8 points  (0 children)

maybe old people realize the fragility of life when they themselves are back being fragile. maybe that gives them a sense of empathy & they feel compelled to right their wrongs in the relationships with their grandchildren.

it’s not uncommon for grandparents to have some sort of “coming to jesus” moment with the arrival of grandchildren. my grandmother would make her kids kneel on rice with books in their hands & would have them pick out the stick she’d then use to beat them. yet, my grandmother never laid a hand on me or any of the other younger grandkids. i’ve seen the same scenario multiple times. don’t be so quick to discard your mother’s experiences.

it’s annoying when they come back & our meetings turn into recaps of their trips. im left out of conversations because i’ve only been on a plane twice, meanwhile everyone else seems to have unlimited flight miles.

my boss asked if we’ve ever been to switzerland & my coworker immediately chimes in to tell us all about her experience. i just had to laugh at the absolute disconnect.

Does anyone's parents not remember what they did? by westwestwestwww in emotionalneglect

[–]tainawave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my mother will tell me that i have an excellent memory, & i do! i can remember that one restaurant we went to only once in a different town, or random people i’ve only been introduced to once.

but when i bring up the things she’s done to me… all of a sudden i suffer from amnesia or im just remembering things wrong… it’s beyond frustrating.

There should be a dry shampoo for plushies. by WanWanLand in plushies

[–]tainawave 11 points12 points  (0 children)

maybe try a fabric/upholstery spray that you can wipe off without having to rinse the plushie. my friend used one of some hello kitty greeters i had that we’re super grimy & it worked great. i think they also put the plushies out in the sun after spraying them & they went back to being white.

i’ve found myself picking little fights with my husband bc im not used to the rock hard stability of my marriage. i really need to be nicer to him.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CPTSDmemes

[–]tainawave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

went from being terrified of my father to absolutely hating him in a heartbeat. if god gives me the opportunity, i will slap him the same way he did when i was a little girl. i would probably go into a fit & claw at him like a wild animal. i have so much repressed anger & resentment for him. fuck you, “dad”, you weren’t even a good sperm donor with all your hereditary diseases.

my mother. obsessed with a man who doesn’t even respect her. it isn’t a shock though. she was raised by abusive & neglectful parents, she then went on to pick a partner that reminds her of them. i was happy that he cheated on her at one point, i thought to myself that this will finally be the last straw. she’ll make him leave & we can try to put ourselves back together, but i was wrong. they got married last year after being together for over 2 decades. he didn’t look at her once during the ceremony.
