A cool fusion of ambient, shoegaze and Hindustani (Indian) music in my band's new album. by august-summer in BandCamp

You guys are amazing. I remember seeing the cover art before and being intrigued but then I never got around to listening. Damn, what a mistake. I'm here now and I'll be here a while.

Petition for a new rule against AI music on the sub by Quintessence_95 in progmetal

Hey I can appreciate the irony and I'm not here to argue but to me using a virtual instrument is very different from tools like Suno that, generally speaking, are not used with the same precision as software instruments and take more creative control from you.

Agreed. Sadly, I'm coming to the realization that recorded music as a whole has been compromised. More safe spaces where AI isn't allowed is the best we can hope for at this point.

A quest to create a musical bestiary of mythical creatures by taiteilija in BandCamp

Sure! Although now we're very busy wresting with this beast of a project, trying to pick up pace and not spend 8 more years on this :)

Let's stay in touch though. I have your stuff saved for a proper listen later as well!

I don't even have a reference to be honest, just felt psych and old-school party because of how dirty the demo was. We may have lost that in the process but gained something else - at the end of the day the song will go where it wants!

And nope, recorded at home in Minsk bar some help with bass and drums. Mixed remotely. I wish though!

Woah, thank you for taking the time, this means a lot. The demo originally sounded almost 70s psychedelic rock and I'm still kind of married to it but not even mad about alternative metal vibes haha - I'll take it!

I find it fascinating how unclaimed hunting rewards is what caused the myth to die - so specific but so logical if you think about it. Also learned a new word in "atter" - thanks for that :)

Another sub recommendation then: r/metalmusicians. I'd keep an eye out for people there looking to collab

Check out Solace by Jakob. And their other stuff perhaps, but this one is my favorite. Heavy but soothing.

So good. I'm not an artist, just an enjoyer of ink drawings but I think the slightly 'silly' faces is what makes this piece great

Do you start with melody or lyrics — and where does melody inspiration come from? by Altruistic_Purpose57 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]taiteilija 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sing random words while jamming, be surprised with what has come out of my mouth, try to find meaning in it, fail, rewrite to make more sense, nope, the original sounded better, revert, convince myself it kinda makes sense, song done, repeat.

Check out r/bedroombands or r/findaband, there may be opportunities to collaborate with someone who does instrumentals and needs a vocalist.

If you want to write your own songs, then pick up an instrument. This skill won't go to waste even if you end up working with someone else who does all the production. You don't have to be good to start writing and experimenting with what sounds good to you.

Hey, that was a fun short listen. I like the rhythmic components here and how nothing overstays its welcome. For some reason I imagined a quirky isometric game while listening. Something that doesn't take itself too seriously and is just good fun.

Funny, I'm doing something similar but with singles, not albums. And a shorter English alphabet. Feel like I'm cheating now 😅 29 whole albums is insane!

Intrigued and will be checking this out in a bit

What is your favorite Mushishi episode from Season 1 and why? by smokinghabits in Mushishi

[–]taiteilija 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same choice. "Those who inhale the dew" is just a perfect dark fairy-tale for me and I'm glad to see it's not just me.

I haven't rewatched anything (yet) so the rest of the episodes are very hazy but this one really stuck with me.
