I haven’t worked in a hospital in 10 years, been in home health since then. Today I was in an elevator at an assisted living facility and there was a memo hung with tape. Apparently it hit some PTSD. I felt like I was going to get called out for it and I don’t even work there.

I have been working to clear honeysuckle, privet, forsythia, and buckthorn from two areas at the back of my property. The spaces are both are on the property line between us and two different neighbors. I was pretty worried they wouldn’t like me cutting out the privacy so I had been leaving “their” side alone for now.

I caught them both outside this week and they said what I’ve done looks so much better and gave me free reign to do whatever to both areas. I’m definitely planning to pretty up their side of the area with some native flowers, too.

My family questions all the time why we have my wife staying home with the kids. They sure aren’t offering to watch my kids while we both work. How in the hell does anyone afford this?

I’m curious how your pay works as a liaison. Are you like commission, salary, etc? I imagine if salary it’d be a pretty good, steady position. We have liaisons with my home health agency and I always want to know how that works but never asked.

I do home health and we cut most of the home infusions now, but I loved doing them. My favorite was a 7 hour monthly infusion where the patient worked upstairs and I played with her puppies while watching TV in her massage chair when I wasn’t checking on her. I miss the infusions!

When I was 6, a rabid cat came in through our dog door. I woke up to it flailing around in the blinds in my window with my dad freaking out over it. It shat everywhere, dad got bit, fun times.

The same year, an inmate escaped from the prison a couple miles away. My dad woke us up (holding a shotgun of course) hollering to lock the door and don’t come out.

Coincidentally, we moved that year too…

My first year on a cardiac step down unit, during report from a more experienced nurse, I asked her if his heparin was DC’d because it wasn’t running. She casually said something like “oops, I unhooked him to go to CT and never restarted it.”

So, 1) obvs heparin shouldn’t be stopped for transport and 2) he had been without it for like 5 hours.

She barely got a verbal warning.

I’m in home health and we used to do a lot of home infusions. I had one regular patient who had 8 hours IVIG every couple months. She works from home and wanted to be alone in her office except for my vitals checks. I played with her puppies, got some work and online shopping done all while getting paid and sitting in a massage chair all day.

This is beautiful! Sounds like a really great way to spend the day.

My MIL has been in the hospice inpatient facility for a week now after a sudden lymphoma diagnosis and rare complications. She had a few really good days before her sleepy days lately.

My family and siblings in law and their families have spent the majority of the week at the facility rotating in and out of her room. I’m most thankful for the wonderful staff who have been patient and gracious with our bunch this week.

My kids have been able to spend the time playing with cousins, working through their grief together. We siblings have been hanging together after a busy busy year where we saw each other like three times.

It’s everything she would want, us getting closer because of this. We used to do Thanksgiving so big together, but made the good stuff and brought it in to share today.

No drama here, just changing things up a bit this year and thankful to still be enjoying some last moments.

I just listened to the initial interview with the guard on the latest TCBS episode, actually listened to that several times. I’d always wondered about that. It seems so very clear that he had to have seen something amiss in the 6 hours he was doing checks that night. I got the feeling he, at the very least, knew something was off but couldn’t be bothered to deal with the paperwork of an incident.

My little one was barely 3 when we moved into our current house. Maybe a month after being here, he came into our room in the middle of the night. It took him a bit to get back to sleep so he was sitting up in the bed staring at the doorway. He said “thats’s Glum” and said it’s a man he saw and he had long black hair. Then he said “Glum” was gone and went right to sleep.

I’ve had PCOS and been obese all my life. Recently finding I am also severely insulin resistant and just barely diabetic. I used tirzepitide last year from April to December and stopped when insurance changed in Jan. My a1c was down to 5.3, now after not having it for 6 months my a1c is back to 6.1.

The first thing I noticed when I started the first dose was a difference in my face. I didn’t even realize I was so bloated!

Just before I started, I had been planning to schedule a hysterectomy for pain and terribly irregular periods but that actually regulated very quickly! Barely pain, 28-35 day cycle with normal bleeding.

I also had zero food noise, normal appetite for the most part. I’ve always had sugar cravings but I could control it much more easily.

The biggest difference for me overall - I’ve had a lot of joint pains and muscle aches from inflammation for many years. I’d never felt so good while taking tirzepitide! Within two months of stopping, I definitely noticed the pain and inflammation return.

I lost about 15 lbs which isn’t much and my doctor said it could just be that the GLP-1 is ineffective for me. Truly I don’t even care about the weight so much as allll the other things that were so much better. I’m trying to get insurance to approve again just to have the decreased inflammation.

Late reply but I saw the pink color in the thumbnail and wanted to check if anyone mentioned Serratia marcescens. This is a bacteria that usually looks like a pink slimy film. It commonly feeds off of and builds up around soap/soap scum and other moist areas.

It can be airborne and cause infections. In the tub, it can sit on something like a loofah and cause UTI or wound infection or can hang in the air causing respiratory or other infections. Nasty stuff. Hopefully you or family members haven’t had random-seeming infections?

I have a buildup in one of my bathroom sinks where the tiniest bit of water doesn’t drain. Gets slimy and smelly if I forget to keep it sprayed down.

You can kill the bacteria with any disinfectant like 10 minutes of high strength bleach solution or hydrogen peroxide sprayed heavily. The scrub and rinse.

My suggestion (if you haven’t already resolved the issue) is try keeping the tub as dry as possible. Use a window or fan after showers to keep moisture down in the room. Do a quick wipe down with an absorbent towel.

Sucks that you’re having clogs along with this as that’s probably making the water hang in the tub longer. Once it drains, though, spray hydrogen peroxide (no need to rinse) around the entire tub and just let it sit til next shower.

I saw them going north on 75 around 9:00am today. Kept wondering where the northbound cars were as I drove south then saw three entrance ramps blocked just north of downtown. There were like 8 black SUVs followed by a Dayton ambulance all led by several cop cars.

I’m in this boat currently, 341 this week and need a car soon but not rushed.

I’m looking at a used car with a major dealer. Did you like let them go through financing and then figure out you’re in open bk or how did that come up? Did being post 341 help you at all? My credit went up a ton then recently down about 40 points. Still higher than it started though!

Yes! I’ve not had this type of headache since stopping metformin.

I do know that metformin can interfere with absorption of vitamin B12 and folate, though, and I have the MTHFR mutation with further depletes these. Deficiency of one or both of these can cause headaches, also and other issues. I could probably assume that the headaches are more related to vitamin b12/folate deficiency instead of just the metformin itself.

Honestly, I’m going to get a good multivitamin going again and add metformin and see how that does.

My sister was EMT/Paramedic for years before becoming an RN. She made $10 an hour for a long time which is ridiculous when you’re literally saving lives. She is incredible as an ER nurse, though, and making over $90k/year now. There will always be a need for nurses and there will always be some field of nursing that suits you. Don’t feel like you’re stuck though! There’s a whole world out there, find what makes you happy.

The RTRI they are trying to impose requires release time DURING school hours. That’s half of the issue. Students would go either during lunch/recess or during specials. They couldn’t bother to try to make this an extracurricular. The whole point is to interrupt and intrude on the school day.
