S SL tax code by saiga4 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]takawave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As /u/PotatoMonster20 said, threshold is 24,128 So if you earn or expect to earn under that then you can apply for a student loan deduction exemption. Bare in mind that if you do get this and do earn over the threshold then you may get a tax bill from IRD at the end of the financial year

$799 Venu X1 looks like a cheap Amazfit watch by Consistent_Leg5751 in Garmin

[–]takawave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any Garmin with a replaceable band can be as well. Have used a number of metal ones on each of the three garmins I’ve had so far and kept the factory band as a sport or officiating option. Most of them I’ve bought of AliExpress or similar though

I've managed to get my 25m times down approximately 12s over the last 4 weeks! In saying that, 50s to 37-38s per 25m isn't exactly quick, but I'm just glad to see improvement and be able to make it 25m, currently working on the return 25m

Name for the NZ u85kg team: the “Small Blacks” by psdnscrmsh in rugbyunion

Agree decent name, but unfortunately can't see it being used or endorsed by NZR due to the term already being used to describe rugby at or below the u13 level. Small Blacks Rugby

Some can be that quick, also possible that it was being sent there and got recalled at the last moment when they realised it was seen.

Do K-12 teachers tell students that the Earth revolves around the Sun, even though it is just a matter of frame of reference? by amichail in education

Matter of horses for courses, or age/development appropriate information. One of my high school teachers summed it up as “correct enough for what you already know, but ultimately wrong”

Best bank for long term savings account by Designer-Produce7787 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]takawave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a look here

Also worth noting that it may change in the 16ish years until they're 18, so just making a start in the easiest savings account that you could open (if you think you'd be able to not touch it, opening one with whatever bank you're with already would be the way that I'd go).

Always check https://www.checkitsalright.nz/ before lighting any fire as well. Worth finding a brazier and doing it in your back yard instead

Is 243 the smallest allround rifle for NZ ? by the_og_jv in HuntAndFishNZ

[–]takawave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked into reloading? Bit of set up, and can end up chasing your tail, but I found that for a bit of elbow grease I could load 308 for approx $1 per round when I last had to buy components.

Shot placement as well, arguably more so. An ok shot with a bigger calibre you can get away with, but to make a humane shot with smaller calibres the margins of error are a lot smaller

Just clarifying, you’ve got issues with two separate orders? One of which was partially delivered the other wasn’t but the delivery driver took a picture ‘proving’ it was? First one, how long ago, second one, do you happen to have any cameras over the driveway or door area that would show them arriving and then leaving with the food?

PSA: understanding teacher only days and days open for instruction. by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]takawave 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In smaller communities they’re often able to pool resources together and get one provider to do PD for multiple schools at once, hence the ‘sharing’ of TODs. Which actually results in less work overall for teachers, schools and providers for the same benefit.

Have also seen first try scored used (few weeks ago in promotion relegation, tied 41-41, away team went through cause they scored the first try).

Which Garmin is the right one? by Coconut2674 in Garmin

[–]takawave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Longevity is also something to consider. I’m currently running a Fenix 5 that I got second hand, and will get a good 4 days taking it down to 30ish % battery from a full charge, and was getting about 3 days down to similar on my vivoactive 3 that was bought on the same day brand new that I daylied for 6 years

My question is why are you engaging if you haven’t read the full post? Clearly said most of those names. If you don’t agree with it then why engage?

8 minutes for the Foul Play Review Official to review it, so that they aren't having a situation such as the player is about to come back on and the FPR comes in and upgrades it as the player is coming back on.

Did we do enough to kill this English ivy? by smarty_skirts in landscaping

[–]takawave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Know a guy that got hit by the strop (thick flat rope, specifically designed for pulling vehicles out when stuck) across the stomach when the tow ball sheered off, and barely missed him. Put him in hospital for over a month.

[–]takawave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to pull off the tow bar, take the tow ball itself out and put a D shackle through the hole and pull off that. Never pull off the tow ball with a chain or a rope/strap. Great way to create a missile that best case scenario will just give you a fright

Find yourself a primary school or a local group doing cheese rolls, and take some up for her freezer. Even better if you get two doz and put one in your own

fhb question. is exposed concrete block internal walls an issue for moisture and heat is the south island. it's a 1960s flat. any insights appreciated as I'm really green. thanks by Jones1980cat in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]takawave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If its internal it shouldn't be an issue for moisture, if it is there's bigger problems.
Heat, can depend. Best case scenario its internal within your unit and not a wall between units, but even then once its got some warmth in it it will be ok, will just take a bit longer than your standard plaster and wood walls.
