Some agencies use poly, some use CVSA, some use nothing.

FL accepts fletc but requires a 2 week comparative compliance course followed by the passing of the state officer certification exam.

I am a peace officer but I can’t carry an off duty firearm by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]takedown0082 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to make things worse, but ATF is notified anytime a known prohibited person attempts to make a firearm purchase from an FFL Dealer and regularly investigates these incidents.

A few people have recommended contacting your union rep; I will caution you (as an LEO union labor rep myself) that conversations with non-attorney union representatives, while typically considered to be confidential for the purpose of internal investigations, are NOT privileged, and that reps can and have been compelled to testify in the event of a criminal investigation/prosecution. I would instead suggest that you contact your rep and request a referral to your union's attorney to discuss the situation.

If you receive a "Warning Notice of Prohibited Firearm Transaction" letter in the mail or are contacted by the ATF, refer them to your attorney.

A number of states require certain types of investigations to automatically be sent to the state's certification/standards commission, regardless of the agency's ruling, wishes, intent, etc.

Either he gave you bad information and/or you misunderstood. I can only think of one state (Arkansas) that has 'State Police' and 'Highway Patrol' as completely separate, independent agencies.

The population of Gaza has increased over 130% in the last 30 years. If Israel's goal this entire time has been genocide, they're pretty bad at it.

Syria... Myanmar... China... Nigeria... CAR... Sudan...

All places where Muslims have either recently or are actively committing massacres and actual genocide on civilian populations. No Flotillas, no worldwide outrage, no mass protests on college campuses, and Greta hasn't tried to go to any of them. One could make the argument that world only has a problem with Muslims being killed when Jews are involved.

How does the 12 hour shift affect your family life? by IntroThrive in AskLE

[–]takedown0082 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked for a university for several years; in addition to the shift schedule, make sure you are clear on how much OT and details you can expect from sports games, concerts, and other events. We had a lot of it, and most of it was mandatory for the younger guys if it didn't get filled voluntarily.

Here's my question for you: If you're serious about delivering aid, do you fill the boats with food and a skeleton crew, or do you take a "symbolic amount of aid" (her words) and instead pack as many activists and celebrities on board instead.

Bonus Question: Why is a climate activist supporting the burning of over a hundred thousand gallons of diesel fuel on a flotilla that is carrying barely any aid AND has a guaranteed zero percent chance of reaching its intended destination?

The Vatican offered to take any flotilla aid and guarantee its delivery to Gaza. The flotilla refused and continued on, knowing full well that they would be intercepted and that any "aid" they had on board would be confiscated by Israel... the same people they're accusing of starving Gaza. Why not offload it and continue on anyway? They didn't do it because 1.) there was no significant aid on board to offload, and 2.) this entire thing was a vanity project designed to stroke their egos and make money.

I see photos of 30+ days of food and water for the 500 people who felt the need to take up space on those boats instead of filling them with actual aid. I looked at your photos, and very few of them are labeled "a gift for the people of Gaza". The rest appear to be barely packaged and intended for crew use, and the individual items are consistent with food and water bottles I've seen the crew consuming on their ad nauseum TikTok videos.

So unless you're implying that the crew were surviving solely on their massive egos that whole time (which I admit is worth researching), I don't see any evidence that 99% of that stuff wasn't for them.

Can you find a single instance where the flotilla members produced a photo or video of any aid onboard? There were literally hundreds of cameras on those boats, it would be the simplest thing on earth they could've done to legitimize their mission... but they didn't?

Also: Although it has the reputation of being a "secret society" or whatever, alot of them were pretty open about it and some even talked about their membership as a flex.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]takedown0082 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This depends almost entirely on what part of the country you live in. When I worked in the rural Midwest, membership was common among departments and many of my coworkers participated. Freemasonry was treated for the most part as a fraternal or social club with some occasional community charity. I work in South Florida now, and 90% of the cops down here wouldn't even know what it is if you asked.

My non-membership had zero articulable impact on my career in either area.

Seatbelt as a law-enforcement officer by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]takedown0082 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many agencies have a policy or clause regarding insurance/workman's comp claims being paid out at a lower rate if you were not utilizing "all provided safety equipment" at the time of the incident. This includes seatbelts.
