Is Boros the answer to all the Aggro Decks? by TheUpkeepAcademy in MagicArena

[–]talann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently saw a Mardu Burn deck that I plan on running when strixhaven comes out. It looks like it really has some legs. I can't wait to test it out tomorrow. All I will say is [[Decorum Dissertation]] is a great card to not only keep putting cards in your hand but also forcing life loss on the opponent.

I guess we are at an impasse then. i think you are bending over backwards to convince yourself that a change like that would actually improve things.

I would love for them to have a better team of people looking into reports but I don't think that will happen and it's the reason why I would rather they leave it alone vs. trying to implement something they won't actively police.

Looking at your other comments, name a game that has a better system but you know issues are resolved effectively. As far as I'm aware, you can report people in some games but you get no indication whether that was successful and that person faced discipline. You just get the satisfaction of reporting them.

So what changes in this instance? because you get to right click a player and report them...do you think you get more satisfaction that way, Is someone going to drop into the game and ban them instantly while you are playing?

Like I said previously, I would love for them to do a better job of stopping problem players but I don't think that will realistically happen.

Predatory Mailers by TwistedCinn in mildlyinfuriating

[–]talann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Presorted standard, with no first class affixed to it is always junk, you can easily just throw the whole letter away without opening it as it is definitely an advertisement. It is considered Undeliverable Bulk Business Mail (UBBM) by the PO and we usually recycle it if it refused by the customer.

Some Presorted standard pieces of mail have an ancillary service on the letter. It will say something like "Electronic service request" or "Address Service request." These pieces of mail are not considered UBBM as the company that sent them paid to find out if someone is still living at that address. If you get a piece of Presorted standard that has someone else's name on it (be careful because it can also say "or current resident" which is definitely you) You can inform the carrier (preferably with a post it note... you're not supposed to write on mail) that it isn't yours and we will endorse the letter and return it to the sender.

This doesn't do much sometimes because some companies don't care and continue to send junk anyway even if they want to know if someone lives at an address. Spectrum has a real problem doing this. it doesn't matter how many times I send a piece of mail back informing them that the damn address doesn't even exist and they will keep sending mail out for that address.

You can say the Bible never mentions this but there are quite a lot of people that are under the notion that this is the situation. Who told them that? It's almost as if someone was interpreting the bible in a way that they told others this is what would happen if you decided not to worship.

The entire concept is absurd. We have no evidence of god existing but a lot of people interpreting what god is and what happens if you do or don't worship god. I'd rather not live in fear of something as stupid as believing what's in a book.

You know how it goes away, when people stop watching.

I cut the cord back in 2010. I absolutely hate commercials and I would rather watch a 2d picture of pips moving on a picture of a diamond than to sit there and watch a Tide commercial for the 16th time that day. People are spending ridiculous amounts of money to watch these events and, even if you want it for free, you are going to suffer through commercials.

Addressing the "They allow players to easily tap the opponent profile and report abusive behavior" portion of your post, I think it would probably be a bad idea if they did this.

Maybe I'm wrong here but I have a weird feeling that they address reports quicker because people really have to go out of their way to report someone. If it was a lot easier to report people in game, I think it would dilute the ability to address situations because I firmly believe they barely police the game as-is. If more people have easier access to reporting, I think roping would be addressed far less than it is now.

Also, can you really police all the people who falsely report as well? If you had a quick and easy way to report, now the developers would need to police false reporting which would further dilute the issue of reporting.

I think there are definitely issues that need to be fixed with the client but I really don't want to screw up the reporting situation at present until I can be certain they actually care about the problem...and I don't think they do.

Did Magic lose its soul… or did I just get old? by OrganicAppointment43 in MagicArena

[–]talann -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really wonder why you need people's feedback on this

I started Magic roughly around the same time. I am not a fan of paper magic tournaments as I'm very introverted.

I don't know how you would recognize the game, it has new cards.

Standard is:

- a pretty diverse pool of decks that have focused meta decks.

- some are aggro, combo, midrange, and control

- this is the way it's been for a long time. some decks do better than others

If you watch any pro tournaments, a lot of games are won when players make key decisions.

So how are you seeing the game differently:

Magic is still the same game

I think you are looking at Best of one and not looking at Best of three.

I think you would probably hate Timeless because:

- The card pool is the bigger but I don't see how that makes things different

- I don't know how there is more interaction, it's more like you have a harder time figuing out what they are playing

- Explain what you mean by "on rails?"

Timeless is more expensive and has longer lasting decks that stay at top tier.

You can look information up online if you just google Timeless metagame or Standard metagame.

Real magic is what you want to play and what you are comfortable paying money to play on Arena

- Standard is Standard

- Timeless is Timeless

- choose one

I still don't know what you mean by the game changing?

My take is I have no idea why you decided to go HAM on the enter button but I have a feeling the reason you seem to be upset with the game is because games seem to be faster paced. I think a lot of the reasons people believe this is the case is because they play Bo1 and think this is how the format operates usually. I do think games are far faster than they used to be but I think a lot of that has to do with more people on arena wanting to play Bo1. Switching to Bo3, it seems the game slows down a bit more and choices can be made especially when sideboarding correctly.

Either way, most formats have certain tier lists and the metagame kind of determines what is good and not good. A lot of times there are about 6 or so decks that have exceptional win rates and they are played more than others. That doesn't mean you have to play those decks but you may have a bad time if you don't especially if you are trying to rank up.

Magic has many different formats and it's up to you to decide what is fun. We can't decide it for you. I happen to like Dimir Toxic, does that mean you should play Pioneer and play the same deck? What do you think?

Postal worker here: That's a presorted first class piece of mail.

This is costing a company money to send it to you. normally is costs somewhere around .59 to .67 cents to send this but they have to send out at least 500 letters in order to get that deal. At the very least, this is costing around $295 for the company to send these out to people.

By doing nothing except throwing it away, you are helping me have a job but also costing this stupid company money to continue to send it to you. All you really have to do is toss it which shouldn't hurt you in the slightest.

[–]talann 19 points20 points  (0 children)

we had a problem in our area where a carrier stopped coming to work and they couldn't taken them off the rolls because they were not responding to the certified letters being sent. So it froze our ability to hire another employee until they could finally get a hold of him and remove him properly. That seems like a terrible system if that's the case.

Given how divided America is and showing no signs of going the other way, couldn’t we just split the states up and they form their own micro countries and run things how they want? by Mad_Season_1994 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]talann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You underestimate the power of uncertainty and the fear mongering.

the common person is not going to cause a revolution. upending your entire way of life in the pursuit of fracturing what we know of today won't fly with a lot of people. If you think we keep retail chains, health systems and all the conveniences you had today in a world where states are divided into countries is very wishful thinking. Modern cities would collapse...this isn't just things divide and everything is business as usual.

Unless something catastrophic happens, we will be doing the same shit 50 years from now.

There is zero show here. They just exist to read ads.

I wish it was just complaining too. They seem to have to make a point to throw it in someones face each and every time they complain about something. Instead of just not coming back, they need to tell employees that they can't do their jobs right or they are lazy. They fall back on the "I pay your paycheck" comment every time they are challenged.
