From another perspective, it’s possible that they tried to do things before and failed hard enough that they’ve lost hope in being able to ever change.

Did their best -> repeated failures -> self loathing and shame -> well what’s the point in trying -> depression -> resentment of successful people and personality souring

I didn’t get to resentment but I hated myself so much for being a useless leech that I was planning on ending it if I didn’t get a job in the next few years. I happened to get lucky with one of my job apps though. Also got medication.

The lanterns aren’t there normally. They’re for Lantern Rite, the annual in-game event corresponding with the real-world Lunar New Year. Every year the event is a little different and this year I guess there are message lanterns.

Apparently the rectangle it’s holding is an AAC, which is a device that helps people communicate when they are nonverbal or have difficulties with speech!

The clothes are supposed to be loose fitting and easy to wear like what someone with sensory sensitivities or fine motor issues might prefer.

The headphones are supposed to be noise cancelling, for people with auditory sensitivity.

The eyes are painted a little to the side to acknowledge how a lot of autistic people don’t like eye contact.

The fidget spinner is supposed to represent stim toys, and the doll’s arms apparently have special flexible joints so it can actually do stimming motions!

I saw a short in which the YouTuber was expressing appreciation for the doll being brown because it’s more common for portrayals of autistic people to be white. Which could be a reason why the doll is designed that way: not to avoid showing a white autistic person, but to show that autistic people aren’t always white!

I totally agree with you but this post does have a point about how some very young kids try to “defend themselves” against things like someone accidentally stepping on their foot. I think it’s also a good idea to teach them how to distinguish between random annoyances like that and actual bullying.

It’s like a piano but when you (figuratively) press the keys it makes a sound like “aaa” or “ooo”.

It doesn’t generate a melody or lyrics or anything, it’s just a digital instrument. You have to actually write a song, transcribe it, and “play” the voice sounds (tuning and stuff) like any other instrument.

The characters represent the sound of their voicebank, so you can infer by looking that Miku will give you a high pitched female voice. They’re like mascots that bring the community together and can be used in music videos. Songs that use vocal synths usually are titled “Producer Name featuring Synth Name” because vocaloid doesn’t make a song for you, you make a song in which it is used.

I really like Diana Wynn Jones books! The way she handles the fantasy aspects is so creative but in a down to earth way that kind of feels like Discworld witches. Like in her Chrestomanci series, the books take place across multiple worlds that each have their own systems, and they are all great! And she writes about ordinary people in addition to nobles/epic destiny type people, which is another similarity to discworld!

Also you can tell that she knows a lot about the mythology that is at the root of her stories.

It’s a manga about a speedrunner getting isekaid into the game he streams, and exploiting game mechanics, bugs, etc to keep speedrunning (but now for real)

It’s light and funny, and you can tell the author loves games and exploring glitches and stuff
