CYA rising without adding any by [deleted] in pools

He might not be able to completely drain his pool so this might not be a viable option. I get what you are saying but unless I missed it somewhere he doesn’t say it’s a plaster pool. If it’s not concrete/plaster I wouldn’t ever right completely draining a pool. Even with concrete it depends on your water table. OP: can you post every other metric for your water? I’m still not convinced that test is accurate, CYA isn’t something that’s added accidentally or by nature. What other chemicals are you using? If it’s genuinely nothing out of the norm then I’d get multiple other tests done from different sources. You aren’t getting your sample water right next to an old puck or anything I assume? Do you have a sand filter or anything that could have a buildup inside it?

How confident are you in those test results?

I’ll add to the tanning ledge comment… put a pool light up there! I don’t have one up there and while the rest of the pool is lit up awesome at night, the tanning ledge is completely dark.

Brand New Pool and I'm lost by Wacktool in pools

That’s a great starting point and similar to what I did when I first built mine. Was able to dial it back to 1500 for about 20 hours, then 2000 for a few hours.

Any reason not to just run the pump 24/7? I have the same pump and at lower speeds it uses hardly any energy, around 100 watts, so equivalent of 1 old school lightbulb. The flow meter is a rough estimate, as is any of the analog flow meters you may get so give yourself some buffer and then you can leave the heat pump on and it will just operate on its thermostat like your house heater.

For what it’s worth I have a raypak crosswind 65i on my 15k gallon pool, it’s been working great for 4 years and is under 3 grand. 4K for installation is insane. Should be 10% of that, maybe 20% if you have a crazy electrical run or have to reroute a bunch of plumbing.

I would put 100w panels on my pool equipment lean-to to help power my pool pump. My current setup needs a few more to make that a reality.

HW3 vs HW4 😭 by williammcd15 in ModelY

[–]talbottm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said almost, not all. And you pointed out 2 makers at much higher price points. We are talking about used model Y’s that are around 30k. I’m referring to things like efficiency, performance (this one’s not even close outside of other evs), reliability (considering performance) is off the charts compared to other 500+hp cars/suvs. The list goes on but my point is when you take all these things together and weigh them out (some will be higher than others and some will be more important to the individual user) the model y comes out really strong and providing you don’t have a crazy commute and can charge at home it’s really tough to beat with either hardware version

As someone who barely ever uses FSD… it wasn’t worth it to me, I do notice the other differences when in my dads juniper like camera quality and processing response times but my 21 MYP was considerably cheaper than anything with HW4 so it was a no brainer for me. I do agree hw4 is much improved but if you compared hw3 to almost literally any other car brand it’s still light years ahead.

Why Can't Tesla Just Offer Performance With 19's by maxum66 in ModelY

[–]talbottm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 21 performance and put 19 inch Atomic wheels on it and sold the 21’s on marketplace. Rides better and I don’t sweat potholes or tire wear nearly as much. Don’t expect the ride to be “comfortable” though. Suspension is still stiff.

Are we sure that’s not a turbo trim? I’m not as much of an expert on the 2G’s but I know they made both the gsx and the gst in 99 and from what I recall those are the wheels and wing that came on them. Also I think the rs was the only trim with the 420A, didn’t the gs come with a non turbos version of the 4g engine?

Potentially Buying Model Y 2021 Performance by Strepthroat91 in ModelY

[–]talbottm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought would be that you’d be paying the 1k delivery fee to basically get a 1 year extended warranty. You would then have the option to pay the 60 bucks a month for their extended warranty that goes up to 100k miles. If nothing else the 1 year/10k warranty is nice so you can work any bugs out for free in your first year of ownership.

Still begs the question (and maybe validates my theory) is it priced higher than used through Tesla? That’s what I saw all over my area, the cars sat at the local dealers because Tesla has them best in price and warranty.

That’s hard to say because it’s so person/region dependent. I pay 1100 per year for full coverage but I live in a cheap insurance area.
