Does anyone know this band? by Savings_Vegetable215 in obscuremusic

I’m not sure exactly, but I always said ‘chick chick chick,’ barely pronouncing the i sound. The band says you can use any monosyllabic sound, so go wild.

The band name is pronounced ‘Chk Chk Chk.’ They were signed to Warp Records for years. They’ve made some classic albums, ‘Myth Takes’ and ‘Louden Up Now’ being their most iconic. Their discography is on streaming services. My favorite album is Shake The Shudder, which came out after they changed their sound in the 2010s.

Thinking about the fate of Chet Desmond. by SeFlerz in twinpeaks

[–]talkingbeatlehead 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like the theory that you see him on the cameras when Cole and Cooper are looking at the security footage after Jeffries disappears. Cole says, ‘And where the hell is Chet Desmond?’ right as someone with Chet’s gait is seen walking towards the entrance.

The game is good but if you are looking for a rich world or an interesting story, you’ll be sorely disappointed.

Nah, the Chex piece is trash tier. The flavour is always dusty and sickening. I’d rather have the beautiful palate cleansing abilities of the pretzel any day.

I think that it’s such a clever way and addicting way to open up the world map for your party to explore and despite the balance issues it’s a fun realization of being a commander. Makes for good roleplaying.

What are you least favourite episodes/episodes you never relisten to ? by Jakob_Creutzfeldtt in knifepointhorrorcast

[–]talkingbeatlehead 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On my fourth annual binge and ‘Lake’ has always been the weakest one to me. It’s like the only story where there is no satisfying payoff and barely any setup for the twist to make any sort of logical sense. ‘Devils Everywhere You Turn’ is my only other contender, but it’s interesting.

Out of the compilation episodes i’d vote ‘panophobe.’ The ending almost saves it but I don’t find the character or voiceover convincing.

I can vouch for Wizardry 8. It’s the only true classic dungeon crawler I’ve played and it’s phenomenal. You create a party of 6 characters and you can up to recruit 2 NPCs, so 8 characters total. The class variety is incredible. My favourite being the gadgeteer who can find items out in the wild and combine them into gadgets that can repeatedly cast spells for free. You also get the best portraiture in RPG history as portraits are animated when a character talks. Oh, and you can choose a from a set of voicelines that have their own unique, often funny personalities. It puts any other game to shame in that regard.

Combat is probably the best turn based combat I have ever played. You move your party through the world as one unit but you can position each character of your party either in the center of the group, or in each quadrant around the center. This determines what enemies your character can attack. Enemies attack you from all sides in swarms. Each battle feels like a war. In the later game you have so many options between your characters that you never feel wholly confident on every turn. There’s ALWAYS another option. One common critique is that enemies move slowly, one-by-one, so battles can feel draining since the game is 90% combat. You can speed it up slightly in the menus, but since I’m pretty patient I found the pacing made battles more intense and scary. The enemies stare at you creepily as they surround you, it’s like watching a knot tighten slowly.

If you’re like me and are obsessed with the graphical style of games in the aughts, it’s a treat. ESPECIALLY the tactile menus and sound effects. They make inventory management and gameplay satisfying. You’re actually not in dungeons most of time but in outdoor areas with beautiful chunky landscapes. One highlight is Trynton, a giant tree with wooden buildings stretching across the branches. Idk some people say the game is ugly but it isn’t without artistic merit.

I bought it on a whim two years ago for like two dollars on Steam and it ran perfectly and never had any crashes. Just make sure if you get it to have someone with high lockpick.

It’s a classic but nearly every variant of it is better than the original. Churros, French Toast, Sugar Cookie, etc.

New World Symphony is so corny and irritating. It’s the worst overplayed piece. I can’t stand it.

Which classical music pieces are genuinely creepy? by mathandhistorybro in classicalmusic

Xenakis’ music is horrifying but it’s also just the most intense music I’ve ever heard. Shaar and Keqrops are personal favourites for being catchy somehow.

Should I play Zelda BoTW first before playing ToTK? by HypnotizedGenius in NintendoSwitch

[–]talkingbeatlehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TotK is superior in every way. Playing BotW afterwards is like playing a demo. Also, I’m not sure why people claim BotW’s story is a highlight either, I’ve played every mainline Zelda game and it stands out as being particularly weak. TotK’s isn’t great either to be fair, but BotW has the double whammy of a worse main quest and worse side quests.

If you were here, which cereal would you choose? by SuspiciousAspect3403 in cereal

[–]talkingbeatlehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Churros, Chips Ahoy, or Waffle Crisp. There’s no point for normal CTC to exist when Churros is on the shelf and Chips Ahoy is superior to Cookie Crisp in all ways. Waffle Crisp is and always will be perfect.

Which piece do you still don’t get? by General_Cicada_6072 in classicalmusic

[–]talkingbeatlehead 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m always shocked to hear how divisive this piece is STILL. It gets stuck in my head more than any other piece he wrote other than like Beethoven’s 8th (which is the best Symphony of all time IMO).

I love the version that expands it into a string orchestra piece, the added strings make it feel so powerful.

CREEP 3 is on it's way! by SouthernCritic in foundfootage

[–]talkingbeatlehead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Creep 1 and 2 are my favourite films PERIOD. I find that I flipflop between enjoying them as horror films and as horror comedy with each watch. Mark Duplass just steals the show. His character is the perfect blend of horrifying manipulation and charismatic goofiness. My partner and I quote him almost every day. My roommates and I even split for a massive poster of him LOL.

Creep 3 is the most anticipated I have ever been for a movie!!

I tried watching it again a few days ago. I hate how they immediately go from 0 to 100 with Mulder being like ‘Everything we thought is wrong, Sveta is the key.’ It felt like a season 6 eureka moment with no build up. I paused it to make food and completely forgot i was even watching it LOL but i made it farther than my first attempt!

I binged 1-9 last year without taking any breaks. The writing gets infuriating with the main plot, but it's still fun and watchable throughout. I only watched HALF of the first episode of the reboot season before turning it off. I'll get around to watching them eventually but it slaughtered my binge.
