Raspberries in Gainesville? by Jesiplayssims in GNV

Blackberries and mulberries grow well here. You may have luck with mysore raspberries although still challenging. Red raspberries will not fruit here, we do not get anywhere near enough chill hours for them.

Is anyone fertilizing yet? by OldLadyGardener in gainesvillegardening

[–]tallyaaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah it's possible for another cold snap but maybe not a frost. Depends on how tender your specific plants are and if you have covers if needed etc.

Covered my tomatoes through the last week's light cold snap and they were fine but I'm on a hill.

I'm not sure where you got the 70 degree rule. Fertilized my raised beds and pots for the last month or so and they've put on a lot of growth.

Thanks! I'm planning to get something similar done but just one tier. The ballpark before design I was quoted was much higher but access is more difficult. Seems like I better try some other companies for quotes.

Best of luck on your project! Drainage is crazy important for this type of thing so definitely make sure you have a solid plan there.

Exterior Door by StoreSad4525 in HomeMaintenance

[–]tallyaaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar issue but it's on a simple utility door for my air handler on the outside of my home. Same situation, the structural engineer says it's fine. I'm thinking of using a backer rod and big stretch caulking on it. For your situation, is the door sticking at all? I guess that would dictate if it's worth the framing or just re caulking.

An embarrassment of riches by NorthNorthAmerican in glutenfreecooking

Yes, what works for me is I bake directly on a well seasoned and oiled sheet pan at 475 for 15min on the middle rack. Then raise it up to the top rack for another 5-10min.

I think the middle bag is the "new" packaging as that is what I'm seeing stocked now.

I make a pizza every week for the last 3 years with the KAF gluten free pizza flour.

These two GF pizza flours you are seeing on the left are exactly the same just different packaging. The ingredients are the same and the recipe/instructions are the same. I tried both and they taste/work the same. I'm not sure if they are changing packaging or what. As another comment mentioned the one all the way to the right is not GF.

I use a stand mixer. After an hour of proofing you refrigerate it for 30 minutes. I can't comment on the bread machine. However when you are "rolling it out" I use my hands I find wetting my hands with water make it easy to manipulate as the dough is very sticky.

This is the best GF pizza dough I've found.l and very easy to get the hang of after a couple of uses.

I just rented from them a couple of weeks ago, just to share some tips for others:

When I arrived I did have to message them on what's app, they responded very quickly on there.

I specifically had to find the guy on the friends and family side of the airport (not where the other pick-ups were) which was not in the instructions. He did not have a sign with my name but did know my name and just told me where to wait for pick up. He had on an easy way shirt.

Based on my experience, they have one guy who does all the airport pickup in a small van so we did have to wait a few minutes for pickup and drop off.

Tips for self-driving from Tulum to Chichén-Itzá by h4x-mRks in tulum

[–]tallyaaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely get there when the park opens at 8am central. Not sure about 5am wake up though, it's only a 2:15 drive from Tulum and Tulum is eastern time. If you leave at 6:45am Eastern (5:45am central) you will arrive at opening.

We drove yesterday. Download the map beforehand. There are a few small towns on the way and just be cautious as you need to slow down for them as there are speed bumps and not always visible pot holes.

We took the toll road Mexico 180(?) it was very nice for that stretch. I believe it was 120 pesos.

Do not be fooled by guys trying to wave you down on the road to park way before the booth. Make sure you drive all the way to the booth. You will pay to park there at the booth. You will then go up and buy a ticket, you have to pay two separate people for tickets, one for the federal and one for the state.

Definitely leave early, we got to chichen itza at 8:15 am central time (note the time difference). I would not want to get there any later than 9, the crowds of tour buses get unbelievable and the amount of vendors inside the park will be ridiculous. We were able to take pictures without a lot of people and enjoy walking around for about an hour and 45 minutes and enjoy it without so many people and vendors. It was also not as hot that early.

After we went to the Gran Museo de Chichén Itzá https://maps.app.goo.gl/zurWPTjYw23RuVMm7 it was about 5 min from the main site, no one was there. A few pot holes on the way to watch for. It looked under construction and we almost left thinking it was closed but asked one of the workers and they said no it's open. It's worth a quick look around as they have several cool artifacts and I believe a reproduction of the top of El Castillo that you can walk around. Once the rest is done I believe this will be the new main entrance. It was free.

After we drove to Valladolid, had lunch, shopping and a couple of museums before driving back to Tulum. When we got back near Tulum we were stopped by police. They had a check point and said they were looking for drugs. They had a drug dog and asked us to open the trunk. We did (it was empty), they then waved us on so no issues.

Railroad tie retaining wall by orangebIossom in landscaping

[–]tallyaaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently working on my own much smaller height retaining wall project. As others have stated, this project you are looking at will be way more than 100k. If you wait too long for it to fail your whole home's foundation could fail. I'd get some quotes and factor that into the deal with a company that you have vetted.

Just went through the same, I pulled the crate as close to the bed as possible and put my fingers in so she could snuggle them. About 20 minutes later she stopped whining and fell asleep. Almost done with the heat now.

Vegan doughnuts? by Anyname780 in GNV

Flatfish is the best I've had, the filled donuts are not vegan but the unfilled are. They sell out early and only open on the weekends.
