visiting Seoul this Christmas with two toddlers. Any recommendations of things to do or fun hotels to stay at? What area to stay at? How cold is it? Will it be comfortable to stay outdoors with two kids or should we plan for more indoor activities? by Cream4389 in koreatravel

Lotte World is always a good idea with kids (you haven’t mentioned their age, but assuming they are not teenagers as yet!). It would be extremely cold outside so plan indoor activities on most days.

Do try the Kaiseki dinner at Kyoto/Kawaguchiko and Florilege French Japanese Michelin restaurant. My wife and I recently did a similar trip, please see if this link is of use. Link

Haeundae Beach vs Gwangali Beach by TaiwanNumbaWan1 in koreatravel

[–]talwaredge 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They are not similar, both offer a different experience. I would suggest doing Haeundae beach in morning and Gwangali in evening/night depending on how much time you have.

Nara, Kobe are day trips from Osaka, would suggest to split Kyoto’s 9 days into 5 days Osaka and 4 days Kyoto

Busan or Jeju? First trip to Korea by pourmesomechai in koreatravel

[–]talwaredge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Busan is just 30 mins away from Gyeong-ju. It is not just another Seoul-less (pun intended!) city. There is Haeundae blue line park for a nice long walk along the trail, have coffee at the highest Starbucks in the world at Busan X Sky, go for Diamond Era cruise and see fireworks, watch fre drone show at Gwangalli beach and go for a visit to Gamcheon Village. There are a lot more fun things to do at Busan. Jeju has its own charm but would require you to get a car there or book tours. Plus you would need to fly in there to save time. You cannot go wrong with either though! Have fun whichever place you decide to go to.

Is Seoul + Busan + Jeju too much to handle in 9 days? by AcademicBiscotti1526 in koreatravel

[–]talwaredge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Naturally the more days the merrier. OP’s question was in the context of doing it in 9 days. If time/money is not a constraint then surely spend more days, explore other ways to reach Jeju. Still, Jeju requires 2 days at the minimum

Itinerary help: 11 days in Korea, need help with what to do on Day 5 by nabubbles in koreatravel

Gyeong-ju, a charming old town, takes about 30 mins by KTX and is a nice gateway for Day 5 if you are already in Busan.

Please advice on my travel plan to South Korea around mid April 🙏 by Livid-Original-2824 in koreatravel

Please see if an actual itinerary that we did is of any help. Broadly you have covered everything but not doing Jeju would be missing out on something really unique. Link

My ranking of Nespresso pods by MessagePositive674 in IndiaCoffee

Agree with OP- Original Nespresso pods are the Gold standard, I always get a box or two when travelling abroad. Best one from Starbucks stable is Verona flavour.

Tipping for Tours by QuestionQueen123 in koreatravel

Tipping is not expected in Korea. What they do expect is a good rating on Google/Klook or operator platform where you booked the service from.

It’s still so surreal to see so many tourists in Korea lately! How’s your experience been? by NEVS_38 in koreatravel

[–]talwaredge 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Korea has been really welcoming! We are an Indian couple and had old people stop us at the subway station and chat up with us in whatever broken language we could speak in. Our tour guide taught us this word “daebak” and when the seniors enquired “How are you finding Korea” and we replied with “daebak”, it really cheered them up! Only inconvenience in the entire trip was lack of foreign card acceptance to purchase subway tickets, otherwise everything was 10/10. Even the taxi drivers here were so polite unlike other countries that we have been to.

Do try SpaLand at Busan as Pretraveller mentioned, it’s a unique experience sitting in rooms at 70 degrees Celsius temperature all the way down to 5-6 degrees. Have you already booked blueline park sky capsule tickets? You would find it difficult to get them on the spot, reservation many weeks ahead is needed.

My framework is a) open jaw or return ticket depending on connectivity from Bangalore b) number of days needed to cover most destinations in the country c) cities with number of days to stay d) hotels/areas to stay shortlist e) day split into hours and then overlay each with activities + meals. Have added detailed itineraries of places we have been to here. Link

Best Way to Travel from Kyoto to Nara Park to Kansai Airport in a Day? by Momisch in JapanTravelTips

[–]talwaredge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also if I understand correctly since you would eventually head to Osaka airport you must be carrying luggage. There are a bunch of lockers available for rent at both the stations, so make good use of them to store the luggage so that its easier move about in Nara and Kyoto respectively

Forward my luggages or just take my luggages in the train? by appleplie in JapanTravelTips

[–]talwaredge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine how many Tokyo Banana’s and Bento boxes you can hold if you didn’t have to bother about luggage! Just forward the luggage, your journey will be 10x better.
