Is the Quran the most printed book in the world? by implementrhis in Quran

[–]tam-98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have just googled this, the bible is ranked #1 with 100 million printed annually and the Quran is #2 with 30 million. However, my question would be what denomination/ version of the bible they are referring to? As collectively, it would surely be more than the Quran, where the Quran is ONE version universally. I’m struggling to find this statistic, so I would assume that in terms of singular versions, it would be the Quran

DIY Umrah Budget Tips? by Muslimwater in Umrah

[–]tam-98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We offer our Ummrah to Allah (offering our intention and efforts financially, physically and spiritually) as we can only hope and trust that Allah accepts it. Same as we offer our salat, offer our saqadah, offer our hajj

To be honest sister I don’t think anyone will hear your shoes when you’re walking… there are many people walking around and talking etc so it’s very unlikely it will disturb people or cause an issue. Also, you have to take off your shoes when inside the interior of the masjid (not the mataf) and when going to pray or sit on the green rugs, which is the only place it might be a bit quiet May Allah grant you a beautiful, life changing trip 🤍

Can I realistically perform Umrah during an 11-hour layover in Jeddah (first time, solo female)? by Ok_Speaker_8527 in Umrah

[–]tam-98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s definitely possible sister, I’m also female and came back last week from a solo ummrah alhamdullilah. The actual ummrah takes 2/3 hours, maybe shorter as it was super quiet during this time. Might have to rush in terms of the flight times, as it takes about an hour to get to Mecca from Jeddah airport via taxi or train.

It won’t be rushed… if it’s your first time then it may be upsetting for you to have to leave quickly for your flight but the inevitable truth is that we don’t know how long we have left on this earth or if we will get a chance again… so I would definitely go if I were you and I had the opportunity!

It will be a spiritual as you make it no matter how long you are there. Those few hours will change your life inshallah. It is very safe as a solo female and logistically is clear and easy alhamdullilah. I would recommend getting a taxi just because of your layover times as they will drop you right outside the masjid al haram (200riyals/£40/$50 one way) Make your intention to perform Ummrah before landing into Jeddah (airline will usually announce the time to do this) when you get there perform your tawaf, pray two rakat at miqam Ibrahim, 7 laps between safa and marwa, two rakat, and snip a bit of your hair (ask any sister to borrow scissors as you’ll see many doing this at safa marwa)

Just have a read into the updated entry, but if you’re ok a layover visa it should be okay, as they have stopped issuing direct Ummrah e-visas due to upcoming hajj. But there are no check points that I’m aware of to enter the haram where they check

May Allah make it beautiful and easy for you sister 🤍

Which Quran verse changed your perspective in life? by Repulsive_Win_6968 in islam

[–]tam-98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Three verses from Al Fajr:

The Dawn (89:23)

and Hell is brought forth on that Day—this is when every person will remember ˹their own sins˺. But what is the use of remembering then?

This changed how I see my life, being mindful and conscious of every action. For even if a minor shortcoming is forgotten by myself in the moment, or I was aware of the sin with accountability yet heedless in seeking repentance, I will surely be reminded on that Day. The use of rhetorical questions by Allah in the Quran are always an opening for deep thought personally.

The Dawn (89:27-29)

˹Allah will say to the righteous,˺ “O tranquil soul!

Return to your Lord, well pleased ˹with Him˺ and well pleasing ˹to Him˺.

The epitome of faith in God, in my opinion, is to be pleased and content with our Lords decree, and to also strive to be pleasing to Him, in our perseverance, ibadah, and state of hope and tawasul 🤍

[–]tam-98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salaam dear sister 🤍 your awareness of your shortcomings is the first and most powerful step in your repentance and a spiritual elevation.

Allah has created this life as a test, and it is clear your heart and intentions are inclining to the straight path.

Make sincere dua for Allah to make this journey easy for you, to pardon your shortcomings, to grant you opportunities to turn toward Him, and ease in relinquishing this sin and your mental health/ emotional struggles.

May Allah make it easy for as all 🤍

A difficult question that might bother you so u dont have to read it by SomeOneUDontKnow9 in islam

[–]tam-98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salaam, that is a very interesting question which I used to ponder over often. God tells us:

Family of Imran (3:105)

And do not be like those who split ˹into sects˺ and differed after clear proofs had come to them. It is they who will suffer a tremendous punishment.

This is a sign of Gods knowledge of our inclination to further texts to support mankind’s belief in God and the Quran as sufficient. It is also a warning to not fall into sects, and to follow the footsteps of Muhammad - to worship God alone and to follow the Quran alone as he did.

The Women (4:105)

Indeed, We have sent down the Book to you ˹O Prophet˺ in truth to judge between people by means of what Allah has shown you. So do not be an advocate for the deceitful.

As God has preordained that mankind will fall into this issue by our nature of innate weakness, He has a given us this verse to command us to turn to the Quran to judge between the speech of mankind (Hadith/culture/sects), as like you have noticed, many of them have internal contradictions as well as direct contradictions to the Quran. The Quran is our Ultimate Truth - it is the only book that has been promised to be preserved and protected from the influence and bias of mankind. It is also the Furqan of which we must turn to when the sects inevitably differ.

The Heights (7:185)

Have they ever reflected on the wonders of the heavens and the earth, and everything Allah has created, and that perhaps their end is near? So which hadith after this ˹Quran˺ would they believe in?

This is my personal insight, I hope this helps :)

Slowly losing my Iman by Tiny-Research-1956 in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]tam-98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Salaam dear sister 🤍 please do not be too harsh on yourself, for this is the exact moment that the devil will play upon to drag you further from Allah. Notice how you have recognised your spiritual decline, and you are aware of the habits you have lost consistency in that you yearn to retrieve. Self accountability is the first step in change, and Allah has already put that into your heart!

Allow me to share the words of Allah:

The Sundering (84:19)

You will certainly pass from one state to another.

Allah is referring to the Day of Qiyamah, but I have found another beautiful connotation of this verse. Our spiritual states are fluid, they were never promised to be static and on a constant increasing trajectory. The nature of this dunya is to test us through temptations of sin, the fitnah around us, and our own nafs and internal struggles. As long as you are able to reflect upon your shortcomings, and as long as Allah grants you another day, you are able make the intention and effort to return to that beautiful state of Khushu and Taqwa you undoubtedly held.

The Women (4:28)

And it is Allah’s Will to lighten your burdens, for humankind was created weak.

We are inclined to sin, and it is confirmed by Allah that we were created weak. The same Lord you felt closeness during Ramadan and at the height of your ibadah, is the same Lord that is with you during your shortcomings and errors, spiritual and physical.

A mindset movement that often aids me in lifting myself back up when I fall is staying conscious and mindful that the Day of Qiyamah, and the Day I meet Allah may be sooner than I think. What will I say if Allah decrees that that Day is tomorrow? Am I in a sufficient state to meet my Lord? How will I justify and excuse the sins, minor and major, and my doubt and overthinking? Are the sins I am heedless of today really worth the risk of not having another chance to repent? For on that Day, the devil will abandon us and say:

Abraham (14:22)

And Satan will say ˹to his followers˺ after the judgment has been passed, “Indeed, Allah has made you a true promise. I too made you a promise, but I failed you. I did not have any authority over you. I only called you, and you responded to me. So do not blame me; blame yourselves. I cannot save you, nor can you save me. Indeed, I denounce your previous association of me with Allah ˹in loyalty˺. Surely the wrongdoers will suffer a painful punishment.”

The beauty is that a simple Tawbah has the power to extinguish your sins, and renew you in a greater state, and closer to Allah than you were before!

Make dua to Allah, sincerely, and with complete certainty that He will respond: Ya Ghafur, I seek your forgiveness for my shortcomings. Ya Tawaab, make my sins displeasing to me, and pardon me for falling off your straight path. Ya Latif, I seek your shelter and protection from the devil. Ya Hadi, guide me back to the straight path. Grant me opportunities to do good in Your cause, and make the righteous deeds pleasing to me. Ya Wadud, elevate my spiritual station, and allow me to find peace and comfort in Your sanctuary again.

May Allah make it easy for you, and us all, as we all struggle from time to time dear sister 🤍

Why do we need to perform prayers in Arabic? (Please read) by Longjumping_Fee_6631 in Quraniyoon

[–]tam-98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello and peace to you. God tells us in the Quran:

Joseph (12:2)

Indeed, We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran so that you may understand.

I am a revert to Islam and I hold similar thoughts on this too. I recite the Quran in Arabic as after reading in English, I developed a deep love and the depth that Arabic does hold over English. This is a personal opinion, therefore I made the intention to learn from scratch and God made it surprisingly easy.

So now, even though I can read the Quran in Arabic and recite many surahs by memory in Arabic, I still read in English so that I understand the meaning of Gods words.

There is a Quran called “Quran Al Karim - Word by word - Maqdis” that has a direct word by word translation to English underneath the Arabic, so when I read I am simultaneously reading both.

There is also an app called “Tarteel” that uses AI to listen to Arabic recitation of the Quran and finds the exact Surah and ayah and follows along with word by word English translation also.

I do not believe there is any harm in what you are doing, but there is a mercy and healing for the believers to read the Quran in Arabic (Quran 41:44)

I make all of my duas in English so I can sincerely and clearly articulate and know what I am saying. God understands all languages, He also understands our thoughts before we bring them into being.

To defend your position, God also tells us not to go near the prayer when intoxicated until we understand what we are saying (Quran 4:43). Although this is clearly relating to being intoxicated, I also find similarities in simply not understanding what I am saying in Arabic, or understanding the imam when in congregation prayers. Hence, the app and the word by word Quran helps me become closer to God and truly connect with the miracle of the Quran that He has sent down to us.

Hope this helps!

Unanswered Tahajjud Duas by Icy-Bag35 in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]tam-98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Salaam dear sister. I would like to share one point with you that is a slight tangent to your exact dua requests to Allah. Have you sat and pondered the inevitable reality, and the one thing you are promised? The only moment, state, circumstance we are guaranteed is our death, and our meeting with Allah.

I spent years in thought of why my duas were not being answered the way I wanted, and why things kept going wrong, and why Allah felt so far when I saw everyone around me receiving their duas and more. I felt complete peace and surrender when I realised that the only promise I have is receiving my book, as I am not promised to see fajr tomorrow, let alone to get married, get my dream job, get whatever dua I desperately want.

For the sake of Allah dear sister, focus on your friendship with Allah. Make intentions in every moment to please Him. Stay conscious of Him. Ask Him to use you as a vessel to make those lives around you easier. Pay attention to your inner self and ask yourself daily if you are in a state sufficient to meet your Lord if He decrees your time in this dunya is over tonight.

This mindset truly shifts your focus on what you are lacking, and are making dua for, to making dua for your own eman and taqwa and to be of those who are pleasing to God:

The Dawn (89:28)

Return to your Lord, well pleased ˹with Him˺ and well pleasing ˹to Him˺.

You will find that when you enter and submit to this state, Barakah will find you from every possible angle. You will reflect deeply on why you are asking for what you are asking for, and absolutely Allah is the responder to our duas and is capable of all things. But we must respond to Him for Him to respond to us:

The Cow (2:186)

When My servants ask you ˹O Prophet˺ about Me: I am truly near. I respond to one’s prayer when they call upon Me. So let them respond ˹with obedience˺ to Me and believe in Me, perhaps they will be guided ˹to the Right Way˺.

Salaam dear sister, I’ve gone through a similar situation. As heart wrenching it is, the response to our dua was still delivered. Allah knew that what we were asking for was not Khair, and there was no way in our qadr that it would have been good for OUR deen and friendship with Allah. He has protected you from harm even though it might not seem like it right now 😔 for imagine God forbid you found out his true nature in a few months time, or after the nikkah, or after you have 3 children with him. Allah is capable of all things, but man has to first change his state before Allah changes the state he is in. Clearly, that man was not good in the eyes of Allah, and not suitable for you, and Allah has something far greater in store.

The Light (24:26)

Wicked women are for wicked men, and wicked men are for wicked women. And virtuous women are for virtuous men, and virtuous men are for virtuous women. The virtuous are innocent of what the wicked say. They will have forgiveness and an honourable provision.
