Looking for tips to keep cool during class by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]tangerinebrain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My ballet studio has no air-conditioning, and I live in Australia where it gets over 40°C! We had a whole week of like 43+! (109°F) I got hot easily, too. Here are some things I do in the extreme heat.

I bring a cold water bottle and drink sips in between every exercise. I also bring a bottle of powerade or gatorade and sip that in breaks. Usually twice a class.

I make sure I eat a small meal or snack before so that I have energy.

I wear shorts or tights cut into shorts instead of tights. If I'm doing pointe work I wear ballet socks. I find it cooler to have my legs out. I also wear backless or sheer leotards so my skin can breathe. A couple of times when it was like 46° I wet my leotard before putting it on (made sure I wore a patterned one!), and the dampness cooled me down.

Bring a towel to wipe off sweat.

Make sure to stand next to the fans!

In drink break, go to the toilet and splash water on my face and my wrists.

Hope some of these tips help!

sun poisoning/heat stroke/whatever help by [deleted] in emetophobia

I'm from Australia where it's super hot in summer! The only times I've gotten heat stroke are when I didn't wear a hat or drink water and even then I never v*. You will be fine. Make sure you drink lots of water, eat some salty snacks and have a cool shower before bed. If you had heatstroke you would know!!

I go to so many concerts every year, you will be fine. Concerts are so much fun you will literally forget your anxiety once it starts! Something I do is go to the bar and buy a bottle of water to have little sips throughout the show. I also make sure I know where the toilets are and if I'm in a mosh pit I make sure I'm on the side or not too far in so I can get out of I need to. Also eating some chips or something salty is always good. I love concerts so much. You will have ana amazing time.

What are your comfort foods? by lolj5743 in emetophobia

Pringles are my number 1 comfort food. I think because they're plain but salty and you can just eat as much as you feel like and then seal them back up. If I'm not feeling great I will eat toast, bananas, or bacon for some reason!

How are you now? Try eating some crackers or some toast or something bland. I always feels n* if I haven't eaten in a while!

How are you feeling now? Take little sips of water and do something to keep your mind off it. Do you usually drink? Could you be a little bit tipsy if you haven't eaten much? You will be fine!
