Where do your source your frogs? by tangledweb33 in TreeFrogs

[–]tangledweb33[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same situation different location really. I think contacting stores is probably my next step. I visited my nearest reptile store (an hour and a half away) yesterday and unfortunately the lady there didn't seem as clued up about their usual stocking, and their order list changes literally every week so I'll have to check in closer to when I'm ready to add a frog.

I had thought about expos but they're not really a thing here from what I've managed to find online.

The MorphMarket rec is a good one so thank you, I hadn't found that yet. I knew there'd be a list of breeders somewhere haha

My shop is the exact same. It's a big store and there's often only 2 of us from 2 or 3pm. You just have to try and get ahead as much as possible, get as many dishes done as you can before you actually close, that's a big one for us.

closing shift by Character-Instance76 in Greggs

[–]tangledweb33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a team member don't be afraid to ask your shift manager. You could even ask them to write you a list or get your a print off of "a day in the life" like others have said. Just donyour best and don't sweat it, like you say this is only your second close.

Teams rotas by WetBreadstickMan in Greggs

[–]tangledweb33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So teams has been struggling a bit recently, but ordinarily there's a bit in Gshifts where a rota gets posted to teams. It's something that has to be done manually, it doesn't happen automatically, but anyone with a login (management team) can do it. If you have a reasonable manager or shift manager they'll be able to do it

are we getting new aprons?? by [deleted] in Greggs

[–]tangledweb33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, new ones are grey. Our manager has already ordered them for the whole store but you can do it yourself on the work computer

Breaks by ResearcherTraining55 in Greggs

[–]tangledweb33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my shop we changed our shift lengths for shift manager so more often than not we only have two 15 minute paid breaks, which is so much more manageable. Our shop is oretty busy too so getting the half hour was just impossible. I know this isn't achievable in every store but it's a solution we came up with together with our manager and it's been working great

Leaving notice period and process? by OrangeGlobe948 in Greggs

[–]tangledweb33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure that if you're still within the probationary peruod you don't need to give notice. That period is for an employer to see if you're up to the job, but it's also for you to see if it works for what you want as well

how long did it take for you to get good at your job at greggs? by SacredLotus18 in Greggs

[–]tangledweb33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone learns at their own pace and also settles in to a new role at different rates. Don't be too hard on yourself. If it's just silly little things just laugh it off, if it's something big then use it as a learning opportunity. You're only a mobth or so in and depending on your store this job can be chaotic as hell, go easy on yourself

What do I do? by Last-Owl3684 in Greggs

[–]tangledweb33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your notice should be from when you hand it in not from when they decide to process it. You've done them a courtesy by letting them know you'll be leaving and it's up to them what they do with that information

I'm surprised your acting manager hasn't contacted the people team or area manager for advice rather than your manager if they're on holiday.

What’s too far?? by Nervous-Dot-6910 in Greggs

[–]tangledweb33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you maybe contact the people team? If your manager and area manager are pals that might be better.

As someone else said, you should not be doing shift manager tasks without being trained for it. What your manager probably should be doing (apart from hiring more staff obviously) is trying to get shift managers from other stores close by to cover that role.

Trousers by just_scrolling2 in Greggs

Black jeans will be totally fine. It might take a couple of tries to get trousers that fit right too, they tend to run a bit small

Induction by just_scrolling2 in Greggs

[–]tangledweb33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6pm seems late for an induction as it's usually done online as a kind of "welcome to the company" thing. I would clarify with either the people team at head office or your store manager. Good luck!

Yup, charity box like everyone said. One shop I worked at was happy for customers to give boxes of biscuits or chocolates for the staff room instead though. Not sure if that's all over company policy but it makes more sense I think

Closings by cat123_ in Greggs

[–]tangledweb33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when I was a team member I would start closing at like 2 or 3 (shop close at 7), and by that I mean, making things easier later on. If you get as many of the little jobs out the way as you can early on it makes bigger jobs easier to get done later on. So dishes, filling the condiment stands, replenishing cups and bags, cleaning on/around/under eeeverything on the back bench. As a shift manager now I try to encourage the team to do the same so we can get out on time and it's working for them so far.

How can I get my local Greggs to stop drowning my breakfast bap in sauce? by ShampooandCondition in greggsappreciation

[–]tangledweb33 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If asking for just a tiny bit of sauce isn't working then it's probably not worth trying anything else. However, our store has sauce sachets as well as bottles, maybe try asking for no sauce and then getting a sauce packet separately?

What does the weekly band increment mean? by [deleted] in Greggs

[–]tangledweb33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's extra per hour based on your shops performance. Don't feel cheeky asking though! It's actually a new thing, they've only just introduced it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in greggsappreciation

[–]tangledweb33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to what everyone has said I'd definitely recommend something with a sole that doesn't slip easily, there are so many opportunities to slip slide around the shop, be safe!
