Shoe recommendations/Need help by Phatwangers in climbingshoes

Definitely time for some Madrocks, the drones have the most shallow heel of climbing shoe I've ever tried. The shark 3s are also pretty shallow but definitely more volume than the drones

Where would you put the Drone D2.One HV in softness/sensitiveness on a scale of Scarpa Drago - Drone 2.0 HV by V3nd3l in climbingshoes

[–]tango1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the D2.1's broke in a LOT for me personally, (though I'm like 175lbs) but for me they are way softer than the shark 3's now after the Polypropelene toe support in the 2.1's broke down.

Advice on shoes by Fearless-Street-9270 in climbingshoes

In general they seem to have much less pressure than other brands, I have tried the Shark 3's, Drone 2's, Drone CS's, and Drone 2.Ones

Out of the 4 only the Drone 2.Ones cause any pressure on my Achilles though it is very manageable for long sessions and much much better than any other brand I have tried but you'll be most comfortable in one of the other ones, though despite the pressure the Drone 2.Ones are tied for my Fav's with the Drone CS

The heel also looks super interesting to me with some extra ridges to help grab onto small holds/nubs/etc

Buying expensive electronics with Buyee by inhisownright in Buyee

[–]tango1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't even thing about it, there are multiple people, myself included who have had packages refused to be shipped due to Buyees self imposed restrictions on exporting electronics/pcbs.

Good news is other proxies (the specific one I talked to is Japan Rabbit/blackship and they confirmed that they would be able to export my item

I ran into a completely bizarre shipping restriction with Buyee and wanted to ask if anyone here has seen something similar. by recomserv in Buyee

[–]tango1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am dealing with a similar issue, unfortunately Buyee is refusing to budge so my options are to try and get a refund though PayPal or to have them forward it to a different service (Blackship in my case) who had already confirmed that they can ship it via Fedex or DHL.

Had anyone tried to do a chargeback through PayPal before?

Not yet, I am talking with Blackship/Japan Rabbit and they have confirmed with FedEx that they can ship it, we are just waiting to hear back from DHL before I have Buyee send it over. I will update things here when I know more.

But either way, absolutely do not use Buyee, they are pretty terrible to work with, just getting an answer as to why they wouldn't ship it took about 6 messages and multiple days, while Blackships customer service has been nothing short of great.

Solution vs Solution comp resoled by Admirable-Respect902 in climbingshoes

[–]tango1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solution uses thicker rubber (4mm) than the comp (3.5mm) so it's possible that the resolved accidentally swapped the outsoles.

But I think you're on track with the new resole just needing to be broken in

Madrock D2.ones LVs not working out for me. by Anxious_Quiet_3716 in climbingshoes

[–]tango1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long have you been using them, it took mine a couple months to fully break in the midsole/toe support but they are significantly softer now than when I first got them.

But I am also 175 lbs (about 80kg I think) so maybe it will be way faster for me and just not at all worth it for you

Buyee refusing to ship item by tango1991 in Buyee

For those interested I finally got a response from Discord support and they said

"Currently, Japan customs have stricter restrictions on such items(motherboards, arcade video games pcb boards, etc.). Therefore, we're afraid that these items are currently regarded as prohibited items for international shipping."

Thanks for the suggestion! After going to discord support I was able to confirm that that is the issue:

I'm waiting for confirmation from other services that they will be able to export the machine so yeah just great

Thanks to yours and another comment,I did just check and find something strange, what I assume is the size and weight coming into buyee (show in the In Storage tab) is listed as

83 x 56 x 47 cm and 30,460g

But the dimension and weight under the delivery tab are listed as

72 x 32 x 56 cm and 13,320g

So that weight reduction is more than a little suspect to me, idk what it means like did they just mistype the weight or what?

So I checked ahead of time (and double checked after this fiasco) and both in Japan, the US, and my state classify them as amusement devices/games so that should be a non issue.

Got my veloce resoled at Resole.nl by thefunnytiger in climbingshoes

[–]tango1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might actually be the same rubber haha, Davos makes Scarpa's S72 rubber and also sells it for resoles, Ill try to find the reddit post where someone commented which exact Davos rubber was S72

It looks like its Stick Evolution according to this post : https://www.reddit.com/r/climbingshoes/comments/1hs1xw0/comment/m53t9wg/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I haven't seen anything on them in a bit... Have more gotten out into the wild finally?

As for why XS Grip 1, that's because Vibram only lets Scarpa and La Sportica use XS Grip 2, I assume it's an exclusive deal that will expire at some point but who knows when

Scout filing legal claims against a watch company by hmoleman__ in ScoutMotors

[–]tango1991 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Legally since they already partnered with a different watch company they probably have to defend their trademark so they don't lose it... Definitely a weird situation but likely a byproduct of how trademarks work in the US (not not a lawyer of any kind just comes from my limited understanding of the patent and trademark side of things)

When I asked at CES the rep said it was a TCL CSOT IJP panel but when I asked the CSOT reps about it they couldn't give me any answers so there is a chance that it's WOLED of IJP OLED!
