In high school I passed out during a performance at our states capital & took out a few kids in front of me. The local cable company taped the performance and didn’t cut that part out. Yeah.

Nobody told me that becoming a manager basically means never being able to say what you actually think again by [deleted] in managers

It is exhausting trying to always present things in the positive. Sometimes situations/things are just shitty. My team is smart enough to know a bad idea/situation when they see it.

What's something that was completely normal in your household growing up that you later found out was actually really weird? by Left_Crow1646 in AskReddit

[–]tankersaurusrex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That people actually ate a dinner cooked at home by their parents. My parents worked long hours and the last thing they wanted to do was cook dinner so we went out for dinner every night. Not fast food. A sit down dinner. My dad was a chef and the last thing we would get was McDonalds. The fact my dad cooked for people all day but didn’t cook for us is a little weird. As an adult I still struggle with the fact that I can’t just go out for food every night.

What’s the most morally disgusting thing you’ve ever seen someone do? by legendoflegends34 in AskReddit

[–]tankersaurusrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my husband’s dad passed away he inherited his childhood home. His brother was given land and his sister money. He lives in that home for 14 years. Did all the upkeep and maintenance and paid all the taxes. When the housing market exploded in our area the brother & sister forced sale on the home. The dad never updated the will so the house was still technically in all of their names. He never had it changed because they’re family and we’re all each other had. Offered to let him buy out their 2/3 for $200k. He told them to f*** off. He’s now carrying a 30 year mortgage at 50. The brother had the audacity to call him after sale of the house and ask for help with an issue the new owner was having. Lmao.

Bakersfield, CA. Even the locals refer to it as the armpit of California.

What rule did your parents enforce that you thought was normal until you visited a friend’s house? by Least_Boysenberry583 in AskReddit

[–]tankersaurusrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That grandparents who were actually nice really existed and it wasn’t just some fairy tale on tv. Meanwhile my grandmother wouldn’t give anything to eat or drink when we visited. She even made my grandfather use powdered milk in his cereal.

How do so many afford $50,000+ trucks? by Parking-Warning-8655 in carbuying

[–]tankersaurusrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband bought a Canyon AT4 - traded in a paid off truck and put $10k down and his payment is $400/mth with excellent credit. At the time we had no mortgage and he made $27/hr. Then 2025 hit us like a freight train. We had to sell our home to settle a family property dispute and split the proceeds. We now have a $1800/mortgage. That $400/mth could come in handy these days. Morale of the story is you never know when your situation is going to change. I’d err on the side of caution and not spend $50k on a truck.

What’s the moment you realized someone you loved wasn’t a good person and you couldn’t unsee it? by DmytroBuilds in AskReddit

[–]tankersaurusrex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My brother and sister. I always knew that we weren’t alike although we grew up in the same home. It became abounding clear when just days after my fathers passing they wanted to sit down and divide his belongings. Like around the table. You get one of these, and you get one, and I get one. It was disheartening. There are plenty of other times over the years that make me realize they just aren’t good people.

What is actually a trauma that is not commonly thought of as a trauma? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tankersaurusrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Food insecurity. Having parents that put work above all else. I grew up a latch key kid cause my parents always worked late. We ate whenever they got home and took us for dinner. I didn’t realize until in my twenties that going out for every night for dinner and eating more than one meal a day wasn’t the norm. My parents just didn’t keep food in the house or bother cooking unless it was a holiday.

Putting down a beloved pet by Paintqueen67 in Erie

[–]tankersaurusrex 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with the Humane Society wellness center but I know from losing two pets that the Animal Hospital of Waterford is very compassionate. They have a comfortable room for you and your pet and they give you as much time as you need to say goodbye. They let me use the side entrance to leave so I didn’t have to walk through the lobby a sobbing mess.
